Those looking for signs of warm hope amidst a miserable Michigan winter now have a date. Spring Training begins for the Tigers on Wednesday, Feb. 14, when pitchers and catchers hold their first formal workout at the Tigertown complex in Lakeland, Fla.

The Tigers’ first full-squad workout is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18. The team announced both dates on Friday after announcing their full Spring Training schedule earlier this offseason. Reporting dates for both groups are the day before the first workouts, but reporting dates are almost irrelevant nowadays since so many players show up and work out on their own ahead of time.

The spring game slate opens with the Tigers’ annual exhibition against nearby Florida Southern College on Thursday, Feb. 22, followed by the Grapefruit League opener against the Yankees in Tampa the next day. The Tigers open their home Grapefruit League schedule against the Blue Jays on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Tickets for Tigers home Spring Training games go on sale next Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10am at tigers.com. For more information, check out tigers.com/springtraining.
