Rotation change (again)

Jeremy Bonderman will be pushed back from Sunday here to Tuesday at home against the Mariners. That will give him a couple more days to deal with his blister. Chad Durbin will pitch Sunday instead, and Nate Robertson will move back from Tuesday to Wednesday opposite Felix Hernandez.

The lineup, meanwhile, is pretty standard, with Guillen back in the lineup for the first time since Monday:

  1. Granderson, CF
  2. Polanco, 2B
  3. Sheffield, DH
  4. Ordonez, RF
  5. Guillen, SS
  6. Rodriguez, C
  7. Casey, 1B
  8. Monroe, LF
  9. Inge, 3B

In completely unrelated news (unless Magglio falls into a hitting slump), you might notice Ordonez's hair looks a little bit shorter when he steps to the plate tonight. He got it trimmed in the back yesterday after it reached the point where he was worried his cap would fall off when he was running. It's still long, but it's not quite on his shoulders anymore.

Anybody else starting to get worried about Granderson? He was magical in spring training and rarely struck out while hitting the ball to all fields and running like a demon.
Not a good scenario when your leadoff guy is hitting .250, not a base stealer and among the leaders in strikeouts.

He is one of the most exciting players in the league but it is time he gets it together a bit.

BTW the Tigers have 3 hitters in the top 10 in strikeouts. Ouch!

Big start for Durbin. Someone is going down when the Professor returns and I would think he and Seay are on the bubble.

Shelton is struggling again in Toledo. I would not be surprised to see the Tigers deal him off. Actually the only guy hitting is Timo Perez (well Hopper is hitting over .300 but there is no room for him on the roster for awhile). Vasquez is looking good down there. He's walked only 8 guys in 6 starts and is averaging over a K per inning. Their bullpen has been very strong. Darensburg is yet to give up a run and Byrdak has been lights out as well. Lopez and Larrison have been really good too.

Anybody here ever get to Toledo to watch the Hens play?

I hope this year I can make it to Comerica for the first time. I do plan on seeing the Tigers in LA and Seattle though.

Well here's hoping for a nice clean victory today for Verlander. He has all the tools to be a major force in the bigs. I like the way he works too. Keeps everybody sharp.

Well, I can't say I get to Toledo to watch the Hens play Dan. However, it was pretty nice tonight when I looked up at the scoreboard from my seat a dozen rows up directly behind homeplate and seeing 100mph on the scoreboard on Verlanders fastball. I was pretty sure Ordonez had his haircut when I saw him come to the plate. Both his doubles down the rightfield line were pretty nice. Gordon's error in the first was just scorched by Sheffield. It was good to see the Tigers patient enough to earn 7 walks in the game. I must agree that the Tigers strikeout way too much, particularly Monroe, Inge, and Granderson. Good 9th inning today by Jones, no hits. Granderson showed his speed on the triple as well.

Ok, is it 6pm Saturday yet. I will be a few more rows back but still right behind home. Go Tigers!

Jones looked invincible last night. That's great to see.

One of the highlights of the evening though had to be the handling of the little nubber out between the plate and the mound by Rodney. He did NOT throw the ball away! That (and I am not being facetious here) is a very good sign. Rodney entices quite alot of those types of batted balls and he needs to be able to convert them into the easy outs they should be. Good on you Fernando.
