Moving on
Leyland said he'll try to save Fernando Rodney now for the eighth inning of close games while trying to avoid him in the seventh if possible. If Jose Mesa can shore up that inning and become a second setup guy, he said, "That would be a gift from heaven."
What will happen from here seems to depend on whom you ask. Leyland said he has an "adjustment in the bullpen" in mind but won't reach a final decision until Wednesday. Dave Dombrowski seemed to indicate they won't make any transactions immediately to fill the role.
"We don't feel that we have that particular need [to make a move] today," he said.
So what it could mean is a change of roles for some of the guys already on the staff for now. Dombrowski also mentioned that Roman Colon is back throwing, feeling better than he has in a couple years, and could be ready to pitch again in Detroit within in a couple weeks.
A fun game to watch. Good hitting(Infante's at .333 now), excellent fielding on both sides. Monroe and Ordonez flashing the leather(good to see both of them displaying intensity and emotion). The pitching was a little suspect, particularly Seattle's. Jeremy couldn't get a win earlier when he was pitching well, but guts out a not so pretty, but well deserved win tonight. Good thing for Todd everyone doesn't bunt and run as well as Ichiro. He's an amazing player to watch. A lot of guys stepped up tonight. Shef is showing the team that they can lean on him for consistent offensive leadership. Inge is finally sniffing .200, and when he gets there everyone but Rabelo will be over that mark. This is what we were talking about earlier, the bats have to stay hot. One run wins are going to be tough to come by for the next 12 weeks, but please don't push the panic button yet Dave. Wait and see what these guys can do. Eight in a row; what was their longest winning streak last year?

Longest win streak in 2006 was 8, which they reached on May 27th. To find the last time the Tigers won 9 straight, you have to go back to the World Championship 1984 season, when they opened the season with 9 straight wins (which was also the last time they won 8 straight before 2006).

It was a great win. It was weird night for Jeremy though. He actually didn't pitch as bad as the runs may have shown last night. I was thinking the same thing at the beginning of the year he was pitching his brains out and couldn't get a decision and now that he is giving up some runs he is getting a few wins. WEIRD. I do think that these wins the last few series are going to be important coming into the next week when we will face Minnesota, and Boston. We will see what we are made of. But nice win tonight, but a couple of weird things.
The bottom of the batting line up were the winners tonight, Polanco is having a harder time the last 3 games or so. Not a slump, just not finding the holes, he has gotten robbed a few times.
GO TIGERS
Great job Infante

As athletic as Monroe is, I'm not surprised he can make a catch like that, and it sure was a great one. Maggs though...man.....he's got no business even getting to that ball, much less going down to make the catch. Unbelievable. I liked his clumsy jump & bump with Monroe, too.
And Jonesie, that's the way to shut 'em down, big guy. :-) Baseball.....how can you not love it?
I guess we're 0 for 1 with Rodney so far. I'm not going to jump off a bridge over it, but I'm hoping for improvement.
Did anyone see Bonderman shaking off Pudge, then Pudge looks toward the dugout and shrugs, then the guy lines a hit to left? Listen to your catcher, young feller.
