Update on Polanco

Secondary examination confirms 2nd- to 3rd-degree separation, but the timetable for his return looks better. The new outlook is 4-6 weeks before he's ready to play again, which makes a regular-season comeback much more likely.

Hopefully we will see Polanco some more this year. He is a really important part of this club. You can't find too many really good second place hitters like him that do not strikeout, can hit for average, and most importantly can move a runner over. I read the notebook with the comments on Ordonez. I had noticed before the homerun last night that he had not hit one in awhile. I had not realized it had been over a month. He still is not hitting as good as he can. I would not be surprised if he gets a day off this weekend since we do not have anymore for awhile. Guillen has not sat in awhile either. I do not like to see either one out of the lineup but would not be surprised if they get days off soon. Granderson has really seemed to be struggling lately. I am glad to see that Young, Monroe, and Rodriguez are hitting better lately. The key, particularly for the first two, seems to be that they are trying to put the ball in play more rather than swinging for the fences. Great outing by the bullpen tonight overall. Go Tigers!!!!

I'd like to go back to Brent Clevlen's homer Wednesday night in Fenway. I know that beyond the Monster there is a street, a building, a railroad track, then a highway. Does anyone know where that landed, because it looked to me like it was heading for that highway. And I wonder how long a shot it was.

Nothing on the Perez acquisition yet?

Ordonez hasn't been doing the job expected of a number four hitter for some time now. Am I the only one out there who wonders why Leyland continues to put him in the line-up as the clean-up hitter?

Speaking of Clevlen -- Don't know much about him, but seems like a really good hitter. I wonder how important he will become to the tigers.

Re Ordonez, yeah he seems a little bit physically whipped lately. But....who do you put in the four hole? And how does that affect the rest of the lineup? I do like Pudge as leadoff, it makes him an entirely different (and better) hitter.

Speaking of lineups, I remember earlier this season that Leyland didn't like to change the lineup around, that he wanted everyone to be used to their spot and who hit around him. Now we're getting a different lineup everyday.

I think the obvious choice for a cleanup hitter is Monroe. Period.

I still think Guillen should be leading off as Granderson is really having a difficult time handling the pressure of the role right now. I was impressed that he got his bat on the ball against the lefties yesterday though. that might be a very good sign. He needs to shorten his swing and if he can't then he should be dropped into an RBI spot lower in the lineup. Looks like Perez would be the logical #2 hitter until Rock gets back
