Polanco update
He's day-to-day with a bruised left jaw. X-rays were negative for any structural damage, and other tests indicated no concussion. Head trainer Kevin Rand said Polanco is eating and talking fine, which is a surprisingly good sign. The fact that the pitch hit the helmet before it hit him was the difference between a bruise and a break.
Can someone tell me why Mario and Rod are saying that Infante is going to start in center field on Wednesday? It's good that Curtis is getting a few days off this week but why wouldn't you put Monroe in center and Thames in left, unless they worry about Monroe having too much ground to cover with his hamstrings (he did play left last night though).
I didn't mind seeing Santiago go down when Dmitri came back but now we only have one bench player who plays the middle infield positions (and 3rd base? Does Gomez only play outfield?) and I'd prefer to protect him for those positions when we have 5 outfields as it is already.

Maybe Thames IS playing and Monroe is resting, too. Or Monroe could be DHing. I can see DY maybe not playing quite as much this first couple of weeks. I don't know...I'm more upset that it's a day game that I won't be able to see!!

Good to see Polanco back tonight and glad it wasn't worse.

I'm glad he's back and ok but I'm wondering if he couldn't have used an extra day or two off though. He's 1 for 10 and has grounded into 3 double plays, which is not like him at all.
