Friday’s lineups: Tigers at Braves

The last time Daniel Norris batted, he hit his famous home run at Wrigley Field last year before leaving with an oblique strain. He has not taken batting practice recently (the Tigers couldn’t even take batting practice outside the last couple days thanks to all the rain in Detroit), and he made it clear a couple days ago that he’ll be focusing his efforts on the mound rather than at the plate. So it remains to be seen whether he’ll have the green light to swing or if he’ll simply be bunting or taking pitches. Meanwhile, Victor Martinez resumes his second job as situational pinch-hitter.

The only two Tigers who have faced Braves starter Matt Wisler are Justin Upton and Jordan Zimmermann, with three plate appearances combined (and no hits).

Reminder: This is a 7:35pm ET game, not 7:05, or 7:10, or even 7:08.

Castellanos WAR 1.6 Upton 1.6

Norris was spectacular against Freeman, the hottest hitter in the NL over the last 30.

If I didn’t know that was.Matt Kemp I wouldn’t have recognized him…..he’s put on quite a lot of weight…doesn’t even look like the same guy.

Dang Porcello not doing us any favors…..just gave up a three run inning .
Yankee/Baltimore game useless we need Boston to GET SOME RUNS

Norris great and offense feeling it….Boston we need ya

Kimbrel left two to get on before ending it

Team looked loose and relaxed tonight. I guess they’re thinking this is fun too.
Miggy for MVP? Anybody?

7 comments. You can always tell when it’s a low stress game. Thank you Boston.

Yes. Miggy for MVP.

My whining about Miggy is over. Going to finish around his career mark of .320. He’s decided to try and drag us over the line. My hat is off to you Mr. Cabrera. And Also a hat tip to Daniel Norris. Really high upside potentially. Keep saying that our rotation next year should be MLB top 7. And what else can you say about Upton taters; they are all smashed into the stands:
1. Ian does it again and we lead one batter in.
2. Loved the JUp hits to right field.
3. Kept 3-4-5 for the Braves to minimal damage.
Tahnks for the gift Boston. If we can win the three left, I think we’re in. Boston should take one of the remaining two. Orioles will likely sweep the Yanks. Tomorrow, we see if ZMan hasenough magic to continue the ride.

Nice to start the series out with a win . Quality start from Norris also.

We are so lucky to have Miggy, I have said here before I want him to retire as a Tiger and go to the HOF as a Tiger. He is making all of us that love the old English D very proud. Great game tonight.
