Thursday afternoon’s lineups: Tigers at Twins

No Ian Kinsler (concussion protocol) or Victor Martinez (right knee) again. With a doubleheader, a late-night trip home, then a night game-day game transition back in Detroit from Friday to Saturday, manager Brad Ausmus is giving Cabrera a game at designated hitter. Jarrod Saltalamacchia gets the start at first base.

kind of a big day here boys – time to buckle down and win

Obstacles to success are piling up.

Not that far when the leaders refuses to take distance

2 hits, 1 run but ouch, a DP.

Miggy DP on the first pitch. What was the rush?

STOP PITCHING TO DOZIER…

Sudden evaporation of a lead.

First pitch hitting results in the best BA results in MLB, by far.

HR Sanchez displays his usual form. I nevertheless hope my prediction from yesterday that things will prove out well comes true.

Anibal hitting that low inside corner but not getting the call.

Let’s change the script soon, please. One run in the 1st inning and then make Dean with a 6.60 ERA look like Dizzy come back to pitch.

They are putting me to sleep. Wake up, Tigers.

JUp!!!😃

26 HR 79 RBI

This BP can drive you crazy.

Good luck, Shane.

Salty has won a few games for them but whoa! that .177 BA.

holding my breath for the next inning and a half…

Very surprised at what I thought was less than 100% effort by JD on Polanco’s double.
Not surprised by anything here that Greene has done or will do.

Stepped away for a few minutes and there goes the 2-run lead. Before that no help from Miggy, even against some below average pitchers.

Despite a horrific first several months as a Tiger, Upton has been earning his money over the last 4 weeks. He has turned from a Submarine into a Carrier and has provided some big hits in key situations.

My question is; the first two hitters walk and then you BUNT???? That’s crazy.

Come on somebody. Light this pitcher up.

Thanks, Victor!!!!!!

V-Mart breaks it open with his golf swing!

Is Victor back? Maybe all he needed was that rest.

Lets hope so. VMART is far from healthy but it worked today.

Okay. 9-2 should be enough. Save some for tonight. We don’t need JV losing 1-0 again.

A win! Mark Lowe-red the boom in relief.

Maybe Victor just needed an AB that allowed him to relax at the plate. He sure hit the snot out of it and looked like he was definitely “key-holing”.
JD didn’t look real sharp to me either yesterday or today.
Maybin is playing good ball and effective ball once again.
Please Brad, please recognize that perhaps the only time to play Salty is when you play Boyd, other than the odd desperate PH situation.
Nobody, and I do mean nobody, do I want up there with 1 out and 1st & 3rd other than Iggy.
Sanchie came thru when his team really needed him to.
Nothin less than a sweep guys and gals.

1. Anabal gave us five good innings.
2. Whipping Boys hits them far.
3. Took advantage of an inferior team.
Can actually be second wild card with a win tonight and Oriole loss. Either way, have to win.

Nice outing for Sanchez. I was worried at first but he did well. Gotta win second game now.

G2 lineup at MIN: Iglesias 6, Collins 8, Cabrera 3, V. Martinez DH, J. Martinez 9, Upton 7, Aybar 5, Salty 2, Romine 4. Verlander starts

that rare bird, the intentional wild pitch, is sighted again…and few were present to actually witness it
