Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Twins

Justin Upton returns to the Tigers lineup after he was held out of Tuesday’s game with a strained left calf.

“He said he’s good to go,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “That’s good enough for me.”

Meanwhile, Andrew Romine returns to third base for his second start in three games.

The Twins lineup is missing Joe Mauer, who continues to deal with sore quads. Miguel Sano is also out of the lineup. Neither has done a whole lot against Anibal Sanchez over their careers, according to the number. Kurt Suzuki is one guy who has, and he’s batting fifth. Jorge Polanco hasn’t had many at-bats, but he’s red-hot at the plate coming off Tuesday’s three-hit, four-RBI performance.

Duffy has a 6.13 era maybe they can manage 2 runs tonight?

3-4-5 not looking very good through 2 at bats….yikes

Here come the twins……

What are these guys made of? Playoffs are on the line. Regrettably, my warning on Sanchez came true.

I think we were all holding our breath .

Sanchez back to form and Maybin making a routine play look difficult.

Usually when Sanchez does a Sanchez we hear an excuse. But, there is no Gose to blame. So, maybe it is all about Sanchez.

Yep Sanchez lost it …but gotta tell none to pleased with the hitters today again …first kinda wasted opportunities to score more runs…second could of done something and 3-4-5 looked pitiful in the 3rd inning…hell they were bad in the 1st too come to think of it .

It,s a shame that all the offense is coming from 7-2. Nothing from 3,4,5.

Well that’s nice to see….forgot it was possible

Well they’re made of something. 7-2 keeps going.

The Tigers answered a big inning by the Twins with a big inning of their own!

And We’re tied again…Jeez Anibal

I hope I am wrong, but I think Sanchez should be gone regardless of the Pelfrey pitch count for tomorrow.

Should have been taken out after the walk or not even start the inning; it just ain’t there

Time to worry a bit—Greene in now

Nice Miggy… although I thought that thing was going to bounce back into the field thank god it bounced the other way

Make it 41 comeback W

Honestly I didn’t know whether to bring back Sanchez for the 5th or not, so I can’t complain. I thought perhaps he’d had the one bad inning but no.
Had to use a lot of pen but they were excellent. How about Rondon?
I think the last comfortable win we had was in Minnesota three weeks ago.
And finally, Andrew. Romine. Again.
(drops mic)

That’s how I felt about Sanchez he had done a nice job recovering in the 4th I probably would of brought him out????

Man Camron scares me on those catches. Doesn’t like or can’t catch them near his body. Juston’s catching style scares me too.

Wonder when Brad is going to give in to logic and clarity and just play Romine at 3rd and bat him 8th down the stretch. It’s a no brainer. He’s had an extended spring training, is rested and ready to go.

Neither Sanchez nor Pelfrey belong in rotations CONTENDING for a crown.

If necessary why couldn’t Farmer make a start?

Marty, I think Farmer would be an upgrade on the two aforementioned. That’s not up to me. Again, it breaks my heart for Sanchez; he’s such a classy guy; hate to see his season wind down in such a negative way. It was so nice to see Miggy get some meaningful hits tonight; Julio has tanked but he was hitting at such an incredible pace:
1. Romine’s RBI single, his outstanding catch, and his bunt(one of a few major leaguers who can).
2. Bull Pen excellence led by Any Inning Man A. Wilson.
3. Ian K. puts on a hittin show.
Kudos to Cam for the offense, Ian, Miggy, Andrew, Iggy, and the quartet of WilGreRonQuez.
Agree that Romine stays at third if and until Casty returns. Need to restart JUp, Victor and Julio for the last 17. Lie the weekend rotation vs the Tribe; the $64000 question?
What will Pelfry give us tomorrow?

Re:Above. 60 pitch count; is that 3 innings or 5?

Offense comes back to get the win . This club is still in the willd card hunt . Well I would like to think they are.

Personally, I think Sanchez has a head problem….should be hypno-tized before each game….he has the tools….just snake bit by the long ball…over and over…
can’t keep a lead….go back to what worked for him in the past…
you can see he wants to win in the worst way….just an opinion, and you know
what they say about opinions….everyones got one. Good luck, Anibal!
Buck Farmer looks good…should be a starter….again, just my opinion.

Keep Romine in the line up one way or the other – won’t hit homeruns but he sure has provided a spark with his baseball smarts and defense. I feel for Sanchez – I too love him and those first few innings were awesome. Love the guy, wish he could get it figured out.
