Tuesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Twins

Justin Upton was optimistic last night about being able to return to the starting lineup despite a strained left calf that forced him out of Monday’s game, but manager Brad Ausmus opted not to take chances. Tyler Collins gets the start in left.

“I’m just giving him a day,” Ausmus said. “He said he felt pretty good, but I’m just going to have him do nothing today. He probably could play, but I just want to make sure he’s alright before I put him back in.”

Joe Mauer, as expected, remains out with quad issues.

Boyd doing his best Zimmerman impression……and crappy lackadaisical play in the outfield. Need to get someone warming….by the way Gibson only thrown 19 pitches through 2.

Congratulations Brad….glad the game was important enough you wait for 7 runs to get him out of there…….

So much for rookies QS.

I agree. Brad is too slow in pulling pitchers. Stuck with Boyd way too long. We need to win this game.

Wow….I’m done with this. Too many bad pitchers have made this supposed fearsome lineup look really bad. 6th inning and managed 1 run and 3 hits. Guess what if they don’t give a crap I’m not going to waste my time watching anymore. What an embarrassment.

Pulling Boyd after giving up 4 runs…was normally a no brainer….Brad, what in the hell are you thinking, leavinging him in there? The hitting on this team puts
you a sleep.

We don’t know what Brad was thinking . Did he understand these are must win games ?

Well Farmer showed up to play not one other person on this team did including the manager…….
.
What a bunch of losers…..

Sorry fans, it is what it is. The best part of the game was all the talk about baseball idols.

1. Farmer lays claim on some pitching time.
2. The Iggy/Kinsler Double Play; Top 10 for the night.
3. ____________________ Fill in the blank!
No kudos. No nothing; I can’t even thing of three things I liked about the game. In all of my wildest dreams, I never thought I’d see this lineup not be able to score a minimum of three runs 90% of the games. The lifeboat is taking on water.

What a joke with 19 games to play this “offense” cannot muster enough energy to score more than 1 run? Like Greg stated, NOT much to like! Baltimore wants the playoffs, Seattle and Yankees surging but not these Tigers!

Not so concerned with this one game but can’t say the same about losing five of seven down the stretch. Their pattern has been to turn it around at about this point so we’ll see.
I definitely wanted to yank Boyd after three. He wasn’t going to get it back on this night. Brad could have started the 4th with Farmer and there was also Mantiply, who was used, and that mysterious character known as “Mark Lowe.” Perhaps the game would have gone a different direction, perhaps not.

Cleveland loses again. Tigers have more control over winning the Central than a wild card. With west coast swing, Blue Jays have a tough schedule. They may slide back. Orioles schedule with 3 D-Back games looks the easiest. Still a decent chance at WC. All contenders are playing each other. Brutal ABs tonight. Desperately need the next 2.

Most of the time I stay to watch the replay at 12 midnight. Well not after the pathetic game tonight . Gotta have some time away.

It takes all facets of a team to help it win.
This team has had a great deal of difficulty scoring and the manager floods the bottom of his lineup with mediocrity.
To install Salty, Collins and Aybar at the same time in a lineup is almost absurd.
Upton out and he is replaced with Collins? Do we not need a dangerous bat there?
It seemed like the mentality was much like that of a get-away day lineup in May.

What is really alarming is that the next two days’ starters are Sanchez and Pelfry, One is a total anathema, the other not having pitched in over a month. The one thing the Twins can do is score runs. Hang on.

It was my wife´s birthday so I aBoyded the debacle.
Saltalamacchia OBP 298, bad. McCann 273, worse.
He is Boyd´s personal catcher
They are 2 back but with so many teams ahead, the summed GB is 4.

Salty is one dimensional. Strike outs are plentiful especially in big situations. McCann can run a little bit, he can get his bat on the ball better (granted high rate of DPs) and his defense is impeccable though I am sure there are stats that will dispute that.
Boyd has not earned a “personal catcher” yet.

WHO DESIGNED THE “D” ON THE SHIRTS “THAT’S NOT A TIGER “D”.
