Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. White Sox

J.D. Martinez is back on the active roster, but he’s not in the Tigers lineup just yet. Essentially, the plan remains to get Martinezback into the lineup Thursday, but Mike Pelfrey’s back injury led to him returning  a day early. Mike Aviles gets the start in right field against Chris Sale, who barring anything else crazy will pitch tonight.

The White Sox recalled J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Charlotte with Charlie Tilson placed on the 15-day DL, but Adam Eaton gets the start in center field, with former Tiger Avisail Garcia in right against Michael Fulmer after hitting two home runs in the later innings Tuesday night.

Now that we know where El Tigre is, where is everybody else?

Need more runs, need more runs.

Ugh!, Justin Morneau.

Oh, Iggy.

Is Mike Aviles related to anybody in the front office?
Nick looks awful right now swing has gotten long again and he has once again forgotten how to hit breaking balls
We need you Nick!

Really makes you wonder .

JD Martinez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He gets a standing ovation and hits the HR.

It’s “Hollywood” says Jim Price. What an entrance by JD.

Nick keeps getting raves about his defense from opposing broadcasters. Does he still need a caddie?

K-rod hasn’t pitched since the 26th in Boston…too long to keep a reliever on the shelf….Brad

Krod trying to kill me I think

I had to leave the room, it got so nervewracking. Tremendous win, Tigers.

Todd Jones Jr.

All´s wells that ends well

We just saw a good example of what makes baseball the greatest game on earth.
JD releases his inner Roy Hobbs.
The old pro K-Rod gets ‘er done.
On a separate note, I’m probably the only person on earth who thinks Victor was right in trying to score on that pop up to Abreu. McCann was up next and the Sox had to execute the play. Well, they did.
That’s eight in a row and another series won.

Rich I completely agree with your assessment on Victor trying for home. I credit that to the mojo the Tigers have right infused by Maybin, Kinsler, etc. That was really gutsy and was totally element of surprise by Victor and with Sale dealing like he was and the bottom of the order coming to the plate I love that he tried to squeak in another run on that play!! Especially right after Abreu had botched the previous pop up!! Great heads up play forcing the Sox to have to execute. Didn’t work but clearly IMO worth the try!!

JD….holy cow

What a game !! Hold on we might be headed for more games like this . Welcome back JD . The 2016 Tigers are moving up.

It’s beginning to feel like 2006 Magic; 10 years later. Last night, we slug the ball over the park; tonight we get 2 runs on 6 hits, but that’s all we needed. Cleveland hates the twins now, and we keep rolling. toward Tiger Destiny. We got to see the Rookie pitch a very good game again, and then we saw HollyWood Magic in the 8th. Welcome back to Tinsel Town er Tiger Town Julio. Man, what a swing:
1. The Iggy Top Ten Gem in the top of the 8th.
2. The Green K in the bottom of the 7th. with two on.
3. The reaction of Nick, Cam, and BJ to the magic swing.Priceless!
Mega kudos to Julio; also props to Nick, Iggy, Green, and even KRod, who prompted appts. for EKG’s tomorrow. Hope Z has a fantastic return. Our guys are a real time right now.

I can stop watching this JD homer. Even Dan couldn’t believe what he was calling – while he was calling it – what a night of magic.

Took a lot of guts for Ausmus to PH for his starting catcher there. Seemed far more appropriate and logical if it were to have been Aviles the inning before.
Frankie made me worry but gotta give him credit for going with his pitches even when they were not being commanded well. He somehow managed to get swings and misses on Frazier on pitches out of the strike zone and got Navarro to go after something that was out as well. He did not give in to laying fastballs down the middle.

Dan – good insight on Ausmus putting JD in when he did – he gets railed on bad moves, that was a tremendous move of course in hindsight. JD JD JD! I was watching and laughed when Mario stated how great would it be if he hit one out and then pow he did – I was giggling like a kid when he hit that and loved how he sprinted, guess he was ready to be back in the mix again. Nice game boys! Fulmer deals again!

Watched the re-play at midnight again. When Mario said how great it would be if he hit one out, Rod immediately said “Huh?” and there it went. Could not have scripted it any better. It was a thrill to watch to game live on TV, but I would have loved to have been there in person. Simply unforgettable.

And a huge morale boost to have JD provide the winner.
Let’s get Maybin right. Hate to see him on the DL. Please don’t put Aviles out there.
Romine and/or Collins will work for the short term.
