Tuesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Twins

Mike Aviles makes his second consecutive start, this time facing Twins lefty Tommy Milone. James McCann returns to the starting lineup after back-to-back starts for Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Miguel Cabrera stays in his usual spot in what should be a good test for him. He’s 8-for-18 with three doubles for his career against Milone, but he’s 10-for-49 with a double and two RBIs over his last 14 games, and he’s batting just .193 (16-for-83) with two doubles and two homers off left-handed pitchers this season.

Casey McGehee working w/ #Tigers OF instructor Gene Roof. Outfield in future for @MudHens “Hits McGehee” ?

Surprise surprise Miggy and victor did NOT get the run in. Tired of them.

They could use thier gloves

Is it too much to ask to have a right fielder that can catch a routine fly ball? Honestly it’s pretty pathetic.

It’s too much to ask until JD comes back. Is it too much to ask the Tigers to put some runs on the board?

Miguel and Victor get paid an aweful lot of money to be hitters. It’s disgusting the money they are wasting of Mr. Illitch

Through 5 that big 1 hit atrack..Cy Milone against this highly paid yet mostly unproductive these days….

So far Sanchez is doing very well. So now there is no run support. (SIGH)

Anibal Sanchez on a roll.

They better yank him.

From what should of been called a strike out to 2 runs scored…..thanks ump a

Rondon is awesome…..right up there with this pitiful offense. .

No reason to allow Sanchez to pitch this inning

Agreed. The confidence booster was 6 solid inning. He left with a sour taste in his mouth. Rondos is miserably bad with inherited runners.

Sanchez struck out the side in both the 5th and 6th innings without giving up a run. His pitch total was not excessive. Why wouldn’t Ausmus send him out for the 7th?

I guess the results tell us.

You are right. Rondon was going to pitch one way or the other. The later the better in my opinion. Sanchez was rolling and was giving the team a chance to win. If anything, maybe Ausmus should have left Sanchez in given the results from the BP.

Starting Pitching good
Pen….not good Rondon anyway
Hitters….2 games in a row Beyond pathetic

Hard luck game. When the Tigers did hit the ball hard, it was right at somebody. And then that non-call on strike three when it was still 1-0. The Twins had to win a game at some point.
My gut was to remove Sanchez after six but it’s not an easy call. I just heard C-Mo talking about more elevated fastballs from Rondon and it’s a valid point.
Verlander tomorrow. The goal is to win every series.

I am not a fan of BA. In fact, I lobbied for Baker or Ozzie to manage the Tigers, not a manager-in-training. Not to say BA can”t turn out well. BUT…I feel he made the right decision tonight. The thing that bugs me about the second guessing is not a single complainant said, “Pull Sanchez now,” heading into the 7th. So, I’m going with BA for the reasons I said earlier.

I did say “pull Sanchez now” but there was nobody around to hear me say it.🙂 We’d need to be live tweeting the game. But I want to emphasize that it was a gut feeling. There was no right or wrong answer at the time.

Sanchez did a good job I would have left him in . However Ausmus needs to address the lack of offense . Counting the days until we see JD back in right field . Miggy and VMART need to step up .

It was uplifting to see Anabal pitch like a major leaguer once again. I am naive enough to believe that he might be a plus in the second half. Of course it was the Twins, but after all they have beaten the Tribe more than us; And as Rich stated, they were going to win one eventually. We just have to come out tomorrow and finish them off. Clearly, a lefty with great off speed stuff gives us a fit. Had I been Brad, would have batted Salty for James. It was a chance, and Salty has the better power especially from the left. Enough said on that. Victor was working on an 0-15 before his hit. Sadly, until Julio returns, once we pass the 6 spot, we operate on a showstring and a promise to get offense. Actually , the whole offense has been operating on a shoestring and hope for a miracle. The starting pitching has saved us:
1. Ended up with a chance to tie after being down 6-0; that’s all you ask for; a chance.
2. Lowe showed really good stuff for the second straight outing.
3. Anabal’s 10 K performance; renews hope for a class act guy.
Kudos to the team for the rally, though snuffed out after flailing through 8. Kudos to Anabal for his first quality start in 3 months. JV shines tomorrow, but beware of the Twinky offense; very sneaky.

Brad needs to get Aviles out of the outfield. Just play Collins; he wouldn’t hit lefties any worse than Aviles hits anybody. At least there would be a real outfielder out there.

Agree Rich.

Ask and you will get it:
Lineup vs. MIN: Kinsler 4, Maybin 8, Cabrera 3, V. Martinez DH, Castellanos 5, Upton 7, Collins 9, McCann 2, Romine 6. Verlander starts
