Monday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Twins

The Tigers go with the numbers instead of the sides of the plate tonight. Though Ricky Nolasco would normally warrant a start for Tyler Collins in right field, Mike Aviles is 8-for-14 against him. On the flip side, Jarrod Saltalamacchia is 1-for-11 off Nolasco but gets the start to catch Matt Boyd, who has not thrown a pitch to any other catcher in Detroit so far this season.

The Tigers get their first look this season at Byron Buxton, who they saw a few times last year. He’s in center field, batting ninth in a Twins lineup that has only one .300 hitter with leadoff man Eduardo Nunez.

I hope he can escape the 4th inning.
.
As I type, he did.

Excellent outing for Boyd. Now the BP needs to step up along with some offense from the anemic hitters.

Just incredible! Miggy another DP. This must be getting close to his worst BA season ever.

My 11 year old niece was watching it with us . As Miggy walked to the plate she made the comment No not another double play!!!

Like scraping fingernails down a chalkboard when we only have a one run lead.

Oh, thank goodness.

1-0. I did not see that coming, but maybe I should have.

No more help from the hitters but the BP held it for Boyd’s 1st win. Any fingernails left?

The strike ’em out throw ’em out was a thing of beauty to end the game.

Yes it was for sure !!! Game over and the Tribe goes down to defeat .

So far the youngsters on the mound are looking mature in their effort to save this season! What can you say about Fulmer’s efforts and then a lefty like Boyd spins a 3-hitter through 6IP! JW/Shane & Frankie shut ’em down to boot! Much needed “W” against a Division opponent!

He might not be “Oil Can Boyd”, but he’s showing some really good potential. Mr. Matt keeps the rotation moving along. No Miggy or Victor for about the 4th. straight game, but we win 3 of them. Just proves the necessity for good starters. Speaking of starters, Anabal is on the mound tomorrow night. Maybe this is one game where it’s not instant loss. A committee start could be an alternative. Hoping for a miracle from Anabal:
1. Justin U has hit the ball hard since returning; tonight made a difference.
2. Boyd gets through 6 with only one walk.
3.WilGreQuez makes the night complete.
Kudos to JUp, Salty, and Boyd, along with the 3 Amigos from Pensville.
Cleveland gets us breathing room between KC, but we get no closer to them. Rooting for KC 100% tomorrow(it’s called the Sanchez Factor).

I didn’t realize the Tribe lost last night. Real good gravy on the buiscut,

Gose digging a deeper grave for his career. Now, he does not talk to the media

Zimermmann 3.95 ERA . 15 games. Just 5.06 SO/9 5.40 ERA at CoPa

That seems a bigger mistake than Upton

I listen and read quite a bit about baseball on numerous sites and take into consideration what the expert journalists, broadcasters and analysts have to say. They don’t always share the same perspective, obviously. But, I have to admit this blog has some of the most unique takes I have ever experienced
