Sunday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Royals

Justin Upton returns to the Tigers lineup after missing two games on bereavement leave. Tyler Collins makes his third consecutive start, shifting over to right field with Upton back and Steven Moya off to Toledo. Brad Ausmus said this morning that he expects a similar mix in right field with Collins and Mike Aviles that they had with Moya and Aviles, though he could play the hot bat a little more often (which would seemingly favor Collins).

See how easy it is to score runs…..we strand runners at an alarming pace.

And Miggy is crap again. I’m at a loss with him he’s pitiful. Vmart isn’t much better.

Miggy and VMART need to step up and soon .

Miggy already stranding 4 runners after 2 at-bats. This is getting too predictable.

I guess we should just rest these guys…it must be contagious…..Miggy should have been swinging anyway…Guess he didn’t want strike out swinging again…the balk was a gift…

Keep stranding them tigers….

Baseball can be cruel, right now I’ll bet Pelfrey and Miggy would like to crawl into a hole. They are both better players and hopefully this funk hanging over them disappears soon.

Pure luck we have 2 runs.

Bases loaded again and nothing. This is aweful. Other teams have demolished Ventura while we have 2 gift runs.

what about the surprise element…? no imagination…bunt? stay the hell out of a double play….clutch hits are at a premium.

7 left on base
Maybin 3
Miguel 4
Vmart 2
Upton 2
Collins 2
Salty 1

Castellanos 2, Royals 2. Everybody else Sunday afternoon nap.

Salty, Salty, Salty!

YES…Salty, I really like this guy….He’s got style and character. The Tigers win!

Oh yes,….Collins is a nice addition, looks like an aggressive player…

I went into this one considering it a must win in July. Whatever gets ‘er done. Using K-Rod in the top of the 9th was a good move, although many managers do it. Good call, Brad.

Salty gets it done with a walk off . Nice to end the weekend with a win .

How about that Michael Fulmer? We would be absolutely worthless without him. Another top quality start today; should have won his 10th. This team creates more emotions than just about any other. Two runs, both gifts keep us in the game. Then to .200 back up catcher hits a bomb to win the series. Storybook in both ups and downs this year. Gets us a little closer to getting Z and Norris back. Only comment about Miggy; it hurts to watch right now; the bases loaded K really revealed his frustrations.
Victor is really struggling too. Julio, please hurry back:
1. Casty hits the ball with authority.
2. Fulmer strikes out 4-5 with one out and a runner at third.
3. The Collins hit to lead off the 9th.
Kudos to Salty, Ian, Nicky Mike, and Iggy. If Cabrera were having a “normal” Cabrera
year, we would have won at least 6 more games; the rest of the team feeds off of him.
Really a great break to take 2-3 from KC.

Per MLBTR, the Tigers are still eyeballing Hill for the rotation, as are several other teams. The Tigers have also reportedly been calling around to other clubs looking for a Starter upgrade. No details were available as to what Avila may be dangling to trade.

The Twins have fired GM Ryan. One of the considerations noted was his questionable signing of Pelfrey and his subsequent re-signing for 2 years after a woeful debut.

That info is also per MLBTR.

The audio was far from perfect but
Beck: the Tigers will try to be creative with the prospects and middle level guys: so Jones, Norris or Boyd wont go anywhere. If they go on a tailspin they could sell, that means KRod, Maybin . He mentioned that Kinsler his under contract for next year .. it seems like he would be considered a trade chips too( JD is injured so).
