Saturday’s lineups: Tigers at Blue Jays

Current Tigers batters are a combined 4-for-35 with four walks and 11 strikeouts against Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez. Then again, a lot of good players have bad numbers against Sanchez these days. Thus, while the Jays have a little less punch in their lineup with Michael Saunders and Justin Smoak out against lefty Matt Boyd, they also don’t need to give Sanchez a ton of support to expect a good chance to win.

Ahaaa! Boyd is one of the mysterious TBA brothers. He’s going to have one heck of a battle against the BJ starter. Wish the Tigers’ Sanchez would pitch that way again.

More of that stellar outfield tiger’s defense! More great pitching and pathetic hitting

7 hitters to the plate 2 walks 2 singles a fly out and a hit by pitch and you score 1,run because of a hit by pitch. Really pathetic.

Oh, Tigers. Leaving the bases loaded twice. BJs pitcher was having a bad inning and no one took advantage. Are the Tigers underestimating Carrera’s throwing ability? They must know VMart can’t run. Under ordinary circumstances, Moya would have had a SF. But if VMart had held at 3rd, the very next pitch was a passed ball. Could he have scored on that? They might have had 2 runs now. I am stating all this without having live action. Only Gameday. So there might be something I can’t see.

At least they made Sanchez use 48 pitches in 2 innings if that will make any difference. I know it’s not carved in stone but I have always figured 15 pitches an inning so Sanchez is 18 over that.

I really feel like one of these days I’m going to reach through the TV and shake Mario whoever he’s broadcasting with if they continue to say how difficult it is to go through Miggy and As far as I can see its become pretty easy out.
.
Do they really think we are all that stupid? With the exception of 1 month he’s been pretty average.
.
I thought his contract would be a good one cause he’d be an extremely valuable hitter for a long time….

We can only hope this is a down season for Miggy. How old is he? How long is his contract?

In my world I bring in James McCann with the slap hitters and potential fast base-runners coming up in the 9th.
Miggy is indeed frustrating.

Bottom of the 9th. Do you have enough hair to pull? Are your fingernails strong enough?

WOW! Only 10 pitches. Is there any way to clone this guy? They could use a couple more like him.

Surprised and excited with K-Rod’s success.
Romine continues to impress. Totally trust him over Aviles, anywhere anytime.
They gotta wonder about Matt Martin. Apparently he is the base-running coach???
Still love Devon Travis.
Darwin Barney is another really heady baseball player.
A few guys on this team really need or can benefit from some time off:
Miggy (duh)
Kinsler
McCann
Fulmer
Ausmus
Jiminez (only because I can’t post something without mentioning his name)

I thought the Travis-Gose was trade was terrible but Dombrowski was so good at putting a spin on things.
Jiminez.

So you never know which game is the one (or two) we win. That’s a 6-4 road trip at this point. Only thing more unpredictable than baseball is what……horse racing?

TBA did a pretty good job today!

Gk, you should check out the National’s announcers sometime. Everybody on that team is a star in their eyes. Talk about homers. I watch the Nats with the sound down, seriously.

Boyd has potential. A good effort today. The most frustrating part of our pen is always pitching in the hoe l down 3-0. or 3-1. Wilson got away with it 3 times in the sixth. Frankie was the one who came out and did his job with no sweat. J Wlison was okay, but the one fly almost created another havoc situation. Base running blunders and poor outfield play continue to confound this team. IMO, Moya is a solid AAA guy; not going to be a solid ML guy. agree with Dan Re Romine; have always liked his contributions when playing. Also agree that this is not going to be a big year for Miggy, as we expect big games form him always. He has really stifled some rallies from the three spot this season. But through it all, we won today:
1.The Boyd start. Might have tried to get another inning from him, but won’t belabor the issue.
2. Getting A Sanchez’s pitch count high enough to get rid of him.
3. Able to regain the lead in the 8th, after squandering it in the 7th.
Kudos to Romine, V_Mart, J-UP, And Frankie. And props to Salty for the big RBI .
Our A Sanchez goes tomorrow; I’m going out on a limb and predict he will last 7 with only two runs allowed. The Mental Institution picks me up early Monday AM. Go Anabal!

Meant to say pitching in the hole

Forgive my continual bloviating, but another critical point to the win was no walks from the Pen.

Kose and Jones misplayed a ball. Both benched. Jones coached at first.Kose “unhappy”. Wagner Toledo Blade
Presley signed to a Minor League deal.Since he refused assigmen with Brewers,, could he be headed to Detroit after a couple of weeks? If he signed, he hopes to reach MLB with Tigers

Yes, DD missed badly with Travis for Kose

I know it’s a lost cause but Rondon didn’t deserve the win. He blew the lead. The best pitcher of the day was Boyd. Maybe “wins” are not the most important stat but that’s what most fans look at any way.

Gose, locker empty at Toledo. Detroit or gone?

Had an in-game argument w McClendon according to Wagner.

Gose Goes

It somehow a win . Gotta do it again tomorrow .

Tony Paul ‏
From sources in Toledo, Anthony Gose didn’t take well to constructive criticism. Told Lloyd McClendon to “(bleep) off.” Lloyd sent him home.

Katie Strang
Regarding Anthony Gose, told there was a heat-of-the-moment argument yesterday. Tigers looking into the situation…

Sounds like what I suspected about Gose is true, and that’s sad. I wish I’d been wrong.

What did you suspect?

It’s in El Tigre’s link above.

You were right Rich. He is uncoachable. It was a problem they had here In Toronto.
.
Heading to game today. Hoping I get a better effort than the game I saw in NYC.
.
— Bob

I’ve heard Rod say several times that Gose doesn’t take bp he just hit off the batting tee. Well it’s pretty obvious that that doesn’t work. He seems like an un-coachable player.

There were also comments about trying to have him play deeper and he kept inching in close. There have been clues.
Good luck with today’s game, Bob!

Bad trade; good riddance.
I would have Andrew out there today instead of Aviles. Romine just makes things happen when they should. On the field, on the bases and every now and then, at the plate. Dependable and consistent.
