Saturday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Indians

Mike Aviles actually has a bit of a history against Carlos Carrasco. He gets the start in right field today over Steven Moya. James McCann returns behind the plate for Anibal Sanchez, who has a very good test on his hands with a Cleveland lineup that has beaten him twice this season and hit him hard in one of those. That includes Yan Gomes, who returns to the Tribe 9 today after missing last night’s game to have a cyst drained in his lower back. He’s 6-for-18 over his last four games.

This is going to be tense. Sanchez may have to pitch a gem unless Miggy wakes up and helps with the offense. Is he just getting old or is there some other problem? .

Miggy not coming through again

So I guess our starting pitching is going to suck again……and with the 30 million dollar man not pitching in with his bat it’s one of the funds again

Only 2 innings but it’s looking like another disaster.

3rd inning. Are they going to score again?

Yes it’s a disaster….tiger’s can’t score even with a good opportunity. Supposed best hitter batting. 192 last .271 last 15 and .254 last 30.

This is the weekend they needed to be sharp . No excuses for poor pitching and silent bats .

They only scored one but it is adding up. Each little run outs the Tigers deeper into a hole. I just can’t see them coming back from 4 runs down.

Can’t hit can’t pitch watcha gonna do?

Awesome! Our $18M HR Derby Specialist has given up 2 more taters. That’s 16 in 70 glorious innings to go with his 33 BBs.

I was really happy to see powerless RHB Aviles get the start against a RHP Instead of powerful LHB Moya. Priceless.

Yep

What the heck was Aviles doing on that bobbled triple? An infield flip?

Can’t go much more quickly or quietly than the Tigers have. Doesn’t matter how many Lowe gives up at this point….tigers disinterested in this game anyway

CLUNK! 0-8

You can’t beat teams in your own division, you might as well hold up the white flag.
.
The only thing I’ve enjoyed so far this series is seeing Rajai. I really like him.

I would have re-signed him but he never got much credit in Detroit.

There are plenty of times when one team dominates a season series, but usually it’s over a poor club. What’s happening here is strange. Three former Tigers with Cleveland now.

just a note to all you bloggers…can you imagine the excitement in the Tiger lineup
if it had Raja Davis and Cameron Maybin? All the bloggers who wanted more of Gose instead of Raja….got neither….yes, I liked Raja also…at least he brought light
and excitement when he played for us….

You do realize Gose played his last game for the Tigers on May 15? He was struggling at .209/.287/.341. By comparison, Davis was at .210/.248/.330 on that same date. And Maybin was then at .194/.313/.367 between Lakeland and Toledo. It’s a long season. Things change. There are spikes and valleys. I’ll wait to see how things play out this year and in the next few seasons.

Checking in late.

Humiliation id no fun!

Not a first, the Tigers lost all the 12 games vs Cleveland in 1996 outscored 28-79

The difference being that Cleveland won 99 games in 1996 and the Tigers lost 109.
Here in 2016, the Tigers would be in a first place tie if they’d won only 3 of the 8 games.

Moya dealing with sore knee , And they go with 13 pitchers . They could have optioned Fulmer and recall him by July 3 if they want to rest him

Good point. Maybe they think there’s no one worth bringing up…?

One complicating factor with optioning Fulmer: Tigers would’ve had to commit to Sanchez for two starts in that scenario. July 3 is next Sunday, and it’s the Tigers’ sixth game in a row after off-day. So they would need five starters before that game.

Well not that I don’t believe Verlander can be good….I don’t believe that the tigers will be able to get to Tomlin……since they NEVER have. A complete and total flop of a weekend our only hope is a rainout. Pathetic
