Monday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Mariners

Ian Kinsler returns after a day off to what is pretty much a regular lineup. With Casey McGehee now off the roster, designated for assignment after a pinch-hit appearance to make room for reliever Dustin Molleken, the Tigers are back to a three-man bench with Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Andrew Romine and Mike Aviles.

Lets see if they can score a cheap run when they need it for chrissake! Steal a base, move the runner to 3rd, score on a sacrifice fly, it isn’t that hard!

Moelleken? These call ups never cease to amaze me. It is tantamount to throwing feces on the wall and seeing if it sticks.
Ridiculous.

I think I’ll apply for the shuttle bus driver for the Detroit/Toledo route. I know…..bad joke.

Holy cow miggy

148 th career HR to go ahead

Our outfielders suck

How does Moya not catch that.

The Pelfrey experiment is now over. It did not work.

I’ve been sticking up for Pelfry….not tonight

Early in the game I heard them say 2 things Pelfry bad against lefties….Seattle put a lot of lefties. Also heard them say Karn’s hard on righties …so why isn’t Salty playing…especially since McCann caught 13 yesterday

Well if that wasn’t a giant waste of bases loaded nobody out

Watching slow pitchers totally kills the game with no wonder defense gets on the back foot. Pelfrey at least provides some entertainment for the opposition.
for a young manager, BA amazingly sticks to the formula never pulling the trigger until its too late.

I hope you are right Todd. Pelfry has been a horror show gone amuck. Multiple base runners every inning. The double plays have saved his behind. I know it’s trying to get innings tonight, but you have to win one occasionally

If we hold this 5-4 lead, I’ll have to be committed.

Don’t worry.

I’ll send the truck from the looney bin

Still a free man!

Ha! Good one Greg. Therapy will be watching entire history of Tiger late inning losses all day long. It’ll be fun.

It is hard to get any momentum with a guaranteed loss every five days…Of course they haven’t lost all of his starts, and I am rooting for them to come back again tonight. But may around the 8th or 9th. Cause Palfrey has showed us twice what he will do when given a lead tonight.

More fun than watching Pelfry pitch every fifth game

Geez, Romine has had enough rest to have pitched again and eaten some of his innings.
Not sure if I am kidding.

Yep the outfielders suck….Upton needs to catch that iglesias needs to field that….defense has cost us tonight

Moya is a liability put there too

I’m not ready to quit on Moya’s defense. He might be a little raw, but he has tools to work with.

Is it possible to get a worse jump on a ball than Upton did on Marte?

Martin…My bad.

At least Iggy is a good ballplayer. I don’t that adjective works for Jup. Explosive and dangerous but not what I would call good.
Tigers get a rookie here in the 6th. The way they are hitting recently I doubt they can take advantage.

Ryan with excellent D behind him strikes out 2.

Again no small ball again tonight. A run down, a good bunter up and absolutely not even a thought of trying to manufacture a run. Apparently Ausmus hasn’t figured out his team is not hitting right now.

Ew.

All I can say is Jiminez: 15 pitches; 12 strikes

Lets hope that the pen can keep the lead . Please !!

Good thing they put Aviles in to bobble that ball which allowed runner to get to second…oh hell Moya isn’t that awesome either

There is no way Aviles is an upgrade over Moya in RF. There is nothing he can do better than the rookie on defense and he just went out and proved it. Plus, Moya is dangerous with his bat..

Nice job, Aviles. Now you strand the winning run at second base.

Kinsler. 4 for last 29

4 1/2 hrs. I’ve had enough.

Sanchez…HRs and walks are killing him.

It was worth the wait!

Upton is stepping up!.

Can you say clutch? 300 /1000 the last week

Nice to see the walk off and getting the much needed win .

Gritty win. Gibson had a feeling. Upton had a bat. Sanchez got a win. Nurse Cratchet will have to wait.

Free at last! Free at last! This old body can’t take much more. It looks like the stories on J-UP are true. Streakiest hitter in baseball; can carry a team for two solid weeks or more. Both homers tonight were no cheapies, and I’m so glad it was by him. We need to get some wins while he’s in an up cycle:
1. All the relievers were good, even Wilson to a degree. But Ryan saved the game in his two innings. Anabal dug in after the bases loaded walk, as did Alex.
2. Came back on four occasions to win.
3. The four double plays, along with containing the C Brothers.
Kudos to Mig, Justin, Nick,JMac, the Iggster, and the pen only gave up one run in 7 innings.
As for Pelfry, it makes me long for Brad Penny in the rotation again. Ther are five pitchers in AAA or on the staff that can pitch five innings for you, if that’s all you require of a backend starter. All I know is guys with 2+ WHIPS can’t succeed in the big leagues. For goodness sakes, get the man or us out of misery. Enough said on that. Way to open up the homestand.

Great win, Gibby’s boy Upton came through. These Tigers need to win in 9, extra innings are brutal.
