Tuesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Blue Jays

Cameron Maybin gets his first day off since coming back from the disabled list in mid-May. Brad Ausmus mentioned that the wrist soreness that bothered Maybin last week in Anaheim flared up a little bit again. With no Steven Moya to slot into a corner spot, there’s no advantage playing Justin Upton in center. Thus, Andrew Romine gets his second start in center. With the lineup clicking, Brad Ausmus opts to keep everyone where they’re at and slot Romine where Maybin had been, batting second between Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera.

The Jays have pretty much the same lineup, with the only change being Russell Martin and Michael Saunders switching spots in the batting order.

Well all these walks by Boyd making me nervous.
Miggy has had some ugly swings the last 3 or so games.
Upton is looking good. Hope his swing doesn’t get mucked up hitting against Dickey tomorrow.

Tigers hitters with the exception of Upton look like crap tonight.

The straw that stirs the drink is on the bench.

Oh geez. Let’s get a walkoff.

Close no cigar…..I don’t think that we’very had a walk off all year….(at least that I can remember)

Nick again flashes some leather. Much improved glove.

Everybody clap your hands!!! Great team ball. Hung in there!

Heck ya….

The boys are on fire!!

Wow. Great ball when they needed it most.
Ian is key on this team but give some love to Miggy for fighting through it. Salty is only good to give James a day off anymore. Lost at the plate.

I had a feeling going into the 9th. Sanchez had sat awhile during the top of the inning.
Upton contributes big, with his bat and feet.
Major props to….. (fanfare) the BULLPEN.
On that play by Parnell, someone is supposed to call out “he’s going” and someone is supposed to call out which base to throw to. There was some kind of breakdown there.

Tigers win! Tigers win! Who would have thought it possible in the 8th. I wasn’t mad as I usually am, because a true bonafide future Cy Young winner was manhandling the team. Usually it was a team’s 4 or 5 with an 89 MPH fast ball that did the manhandling. Their Sanchez is the real thing I’m afraid. But we persisted, and because we’re playing above average baseball, the deficit became a tie and then the win fell in line. An extremely good win for the Tigers:
1. Talk all those advance metrics, but my eyes say Casty is getting better on defense. Two quality plays by him tonight.
2. Parnell’s pitching out of a mess with no damage in the ninth. His K of Bautista has Mr. B. still talking after the game.
3. JUP’s safe slide into third to keep the rally going.
Kudos to Ian(as always), Mig, JUP, Iggy, Parnell, and JWilson. Boyd had another decent outing; way too many walks, but none scored; did run up his pitch count. Greene worked out of a jam too limiting the damage in the 7th to one run. We finally are seeing some really good baseball from our guys in Royal Blue. Dare we hope for another sweep tomorrow? Z is on the mound, RA will be floating like a butterfly for the Jays, so bring it on. To see the guys celebrate a win like a bunch of little boys was exhilarating.

Huge win and great come back . Gotta win the close ones and Tigers managed to do that . Looking forward to tomorrow .

ROYAL BLUE!? Lets call it midnight blue.

Black and blue after last night.
