Monday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Blue Jays

As expected, Cameron Maybin remains in the second spot of a familiar looking lineup. On the Jays side, Jose Bautista has been batting leadoff for the last couple weeks, giving Michael Fulmer a power bat to face from the get-go in his latest start.

Meanwhile, former Tigers prospect Devon Travis gets the start at second base at Comerica Park. Travis was traded after the 2014 season to Toronto for Anthony Gose, who will now be backing up prospect JaCoby Jones in center field at Triple-A Toledo after Jones was promoted last night.

Who goes? An OF will be called up and they have an extra pitcher. Since Greene was used out of the BP, Boyd stays.
Lowe paying his usual visit to DL?
Hardy? Greene was effective against LH , just a couple of games but…
Sánchez has his usual rest, If he does not pitch today or tomorrow.. DL?

Now, I would like to see him doing that against a RHP

McCann another 3-run homer and OH OH Upton!!!

Time to go the BP. Innings wasted in an open game

Wow! Whatever they are eating for breakfast……………….

Bats come alive in Toronto . Nice to start the road trip with a win .

road trip?

Getting Fulmer in the Cespedes trade might prove to be one of the top five trades in Tiger History. This guy has good stuff, and he’s poised, and not afraid. What a pleasure to watch him put the Blue Jay bats to sleep. Our fourth straight win over s a lefty starter. The offense that looked possible coming out of Lakeland, might actually be getting into proper working order. Starting pitchers continue to excel in another turn, and the Pigs from the Pen looked extremely confident. Add to that “Iggyfense”
and you have the makings of a pretty decent ball club.
1. Decided to score enough runs to prevent Toronto from having any chance.
2. Anabal has a clean inning past the sixth; weell, he did!
3. The bottom three are helping to turn over the batting order with more consistency; One through seven each had 5 plate appearances.
Kudos to Ian, Cameron for excitement, Julio, JUP for hitting better, JMac for his journey to rise above the Mendoza line,Iggy for D, Michael for sparkling, and the pen took care of business. Miggy must be hurting from the back issue, and VMart took a pause in his great season so far. Brad handled the Fulmer innings thing perfectly.
Fabulous win.

#2 was pretty funny, Greg. that perfect inning was good medicine for whatever ails Anibal

A shame this blog doesn’t allow you to like posts.

The Tigers who, let’s face it, can be quite dull at times have become very interesting. It’s not just because they’re winning some games, but because of the team’s development. The influx of young talent is fun to watch and one can see the next edition of the team beginning to blend in with the previous one. This is suddenly an intriguing bunch, win or lose.

And much, if not all, of the young talent is due to DD’s deadline deals last year in which he unloaded unsignable players from a team that was dead in the water.

Not quite how I see it. While we picked up Boyd, Fulmer, Norris and Jones, I include as young talent Greene, McCann, Castellanos, Iglesias, Moya, Jiminez, and J. Wilson.
DD did do an excellent job of deadline dealing, but I still have an aversion to giving up while 3.5 games out with two months to go.

J Wilson was a trade acquisition for Cessna, who DD got along with Fulmer for Cespedes..That’s 5 talented players who DD basically acquired at the deadline. The other players were already in place with the organization.

Hard hit rate, MLB:
Victor , second. Miguel 25th. JD 57th

Really! Victor has been incredibly impressive that’s for sure.
Jacoby Jones has been referred to as a “5 tool player”. To crack this team he needs to be a “SIX tool player”. (5 tools + Switch Hitter)
