Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Phillies

Ian Kinsler remains out of the lineup with flu-like symptoms. Justin Upton gets the extra day off he was expected to get with what the Tigers are calling right quad tightness. Other than James McCann in at catcher, and Miguel Cabrera DHing with Victor Martinez at first base, it’s the same lineup as last night.

Sorry to see the condolences. What happened?
.
Uh oh. 3 strikeouts by Nola in the 1st inning.

His mom passed away

Only have Gameday here. What’s with this 2 singles to Aviles? Also Sanchez to Iglesias but no out at 2nd on Howard?

Sanchez deflected it…

Seems to be a very favorable strike zone for the Phils…….getting pissed off

They are running wild on Sanchez. Stealing home? For two players it was there 1st of the year?

Keystone cops out there today…..can’t hit and nobody can field out there.

47 reason to like interleague games:”The Tigers’ 122-75 record in interleague play since 2006 is the second best in the game, trailing only the Red Sox.” Tigers gameday

Since Pelfrey is showing signs of improving, time to move Aníbal to the pen.
Birdman will be called up sooner than later

Between the crappy home plate ump and the bumbling idiots playing the field out there it’s going to be a long afternoon…..ps…Moya shouldn’t be on this team…he doesn’t hit and he can’t field his position. He looks losteoporosis in left

Looks losteoporosis out there

Spell correcting …lost out there to losteoporosis?????

Lackadaisical

He was hitting fine till Brad stopped playing him. He needs to play everyday. But you’re right, he won’t play ahead of JD and he won’t play ahead of Upton with his contract. He should be sent down.

Only 2 ER

But of course, IR . Wilson in, run scored. 2 seasons doing the same.

There mad at the ump and I don’t blame them…he’s made it fairly clear all day he has an agenda

Lead off triple and nothing

Even though Sanchez looks to get the loss, he did get his first Quality Start of the year.in his tenth try.

Of course, he gave up 2 more HRs in the process.

No he didn’t…. a quality start is 3 RUNs or less not earned runs.

There are reasons why most teams don’t sweep series and most of those reasons were on display today.

Ya they pretty much played today like they were ok with the outcome no matter which way it went.

I was including the umpire and other things with the reasons, not effort. Opting to pitch to their best (only?) hitter with firstbase open is included, among others.

I agree with everything…..but I thought they seemed hohum

Well, I was expecting retaliation for the bat flip and the quick pitch once the game opened wide.

This was a game that could have went either way . Gotta work better at getting runners in scoring position in .

Joe Jiminez.
Another clean inning. 13 pitches, 10 strikes, 3Ks

Yoenis: ” The 30-year-old is batting .309/.387/.678 and leading the National League in OPS, slugging percentage and RBIs while holding the MLB lead with 15 home runs. “

With all the concern over Sanchez would somebody please tell management that Pelfrey has given up 67 hits this season in 47 innings.
His WHIP is over 1.80
Both he and Sanchie are walking guys and both have given upmore homers than games started.
Sanchez will get better. Not sure Pelfrey has the skills to do the same. Pelfrey needs to be out of the rotation and soon.

Pelfrey HR/9 1.91.Scherzer 1.90. Sànchez 1.84. Of course, Pelfrey was hired based on his 0.5 HR/9 rate of 2015

Last I heard, Saturday’s starter has not been named and Boyd could be it. If that takes place, the job is his to lose. A strong outing could land him in the rotation but it remains to be seen who he would replace.
The Pelfrey thing is not working out and no one can say it is. Even his “good” outings are only that in comparison to his bad ones. I’d like nothing better than to see Mike succeed but his future is looking dim. At any rate, this Toledo shuffle of starters will end up being the rotation at some point, possibly soon.

Comparisons between Cespedes and Upton so far are a mismatch. If it takes up to a year to adjust as has been said, Yoenis will end up hitting .506 with 70 homers after he does adjust. Meanwhile, Upton sits with a “tight quad.”
