Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Athletics

Change in the Tigers batting order, where J.D. Martinez and Justin Upton switch spots, putting Martinez in front of Cabrera and Upton behind Victor Martinez. It’s not necessarily a long-term change, but it’s Brad Ausmus trying to do something, anything to get his offense going.

“I was mixing it up, see if we can get something clicking,” Ausmus said. “Doesn’t mean it won’t go back to that at some point, but I’m changing a little bit because we’re not clicking right now. It’s just quite frankly throwing a blind dart, hoping something clicks. That’s all it is.”

Jose Iglesias was another to bat second, Ausmus said. Instead, he decided to give Iglesias a smaller bump up to seventh.

The A’s have some shifts, too, with Coco Crisp batting leadoff in center field, Khris Davis moving up to cleanup, and longtime Verlander nemesis Billy Butler making his first appearance of the series.

#2 and # 4 are the RBI spots so if not Upton has to be JD

Sometimes any move is a good move. Let’s hope this turns out to be a brilliant one.

They are carrying an xtra pitcher and will go short on the bench with Birdman going to Toledo

JD in the second spot paid off this time. Makes Ausman look intelligent.

I like Aus not waiting to try to jump start the offense. “Blind dart”, that’s OK if it works, if not try another dart. That may have been Birman’s last trip to Detroit, too.

Meanwhile, in the 5th spot…………………..

I love how Kirk Gibson tortures Mario. I like Rod Allen but Kirk is hilarious and Mario plays the straight guy, kind of sounds annoyed. Very entertaining!

Bring back Rod Allen. Gibby is monotone and boring which is surprising considers the way he was as a player.

I bet Pelfry wishes he could get a few runs of support?

Nice to see the runs crossing the plate . Gotta forget about last weekend .

Nice outing so far for JV. Even the HATERS will need to dig him up after he was buried by many of us. Maybe BA needs to get him out pretty soon.

BP time

To me, BA seems a tad late on taking starters out. I felt Simon fell victim to BA’s late removals far too many times last season.

Fulmer vs Twins. Friday

I like Rocky Martinez lots. But, he took a horrible route on Davis’ ball and then dropped it from his glove. The A’s replay showed even Davis thought the ball was caught.

Victor and Julio breathe new life into this old lineup. JV toils to the sixth, and Frankie looks like Trevor Hoffman. Nice night of baseball. Miggy still coming around, Ian is Ian, and J-Up is nearing the bottom of the first cycle. He has a two homer day Friday; you read it right here:
1. Have I told you what a bargain we have in Justin Wilson?
2. Never looked back; got those 4 add on runs.
3. Iggy defense continues to amaze me.
Kudos to Julio, Victor, Nick, JV, and Ian(he’s in the mix everynight).
Verhagen needs Verboten. Gose needs a magic elixir, and J-UP needs to put it all behind him. Big day Friday. We have a Michael starting and it’s not Pelfrey.
