St. Patrick’s Day lineups: Tigers vs. Cardinals

James McCann is still under the weather, so Jarrod Saltalamacchia gets the start behind the plate. With Victor Martinez out, J.D. Martinez gets a game at DH, with Nate Schierholtz starting in right.

The Cardinals sent a pretty good squad for the trip, including Matt Holliday, so it should be a decent matchup for MLB Network and Fox Sports Detroit.

What was JL saying about “chemistry”?
Having those kids around is important to everybody. Yes, it has to be under control but that aspect of the players knowing the boundaries and abiding by them simply compounds, in a positive manner, that chemistry.
Great article:

I agree, Dan. LaRoche and son was a great story in Washington. My favorite part was after the Nats had clinched the division and the two underage kids, Adam’s son and Bryce Harper, shared some sparkling cider while the others imbibed.
The White Sox have come across (again) as a somewhat low class organization, and it’s made worse by the comments of some of their fans; people who are only saw LaRoche as an on-field failure and are glad to be shed of this contract.
It’s become an ugly world.

I don’t disagree with you too many times, Rich, but I do on this one. The White Sox, however, made a mistake when they let it be included in his contract The P layer’s union will back him because it was written in his contract. The kid didn’t go to school. He had private tutors. What else do these millionaires want?

When you leave 13 MM on the table, you have principles.Adam La Roche did that

It means he can afford it. That’s what it tells me.

looks like Jones could start putting pressure on guys like Castellanos and Gose for PT in the not too distant future.

Did I miss something? Brad Ausmus said in early March that Justin Verlander was his opening day starter…when did Zimmerman come into the picture and what happened to Verlander?

JV is Opening Day in Miami …. JZ is Home Opener at Comerica in Game 3.

Russo and Byrnes debated the LaRoache situation prior to the game yesterday on High Heat. Byrnes used some of McCarthy’s points from his article yesterday. Russo also got a phone interview in with Avila and questioned him on that matter among other things. The entire show was interesting and is worth watching if a replay becomes available.

McCosky, not McCarthy.

I thought I remembered hearing that Miggy had lost weight and was noticeably slimmer. Maybe I have to adjust my TV because he looks paunchier than ever I can recall.
Not complaining—just sayin”

same here, Dan. He looks huge to me.
