Saturday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Pirates

The Tigers and Pirates have a home-and-home set for the second time in as many weeks, starting with today’s matchup in Lakeland. Both games are going to have the theme of a near-regular lineup for the home team and less so for the visitors. The Pirates bring Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer and a mix of prospects and role guys beyond that. The Tigers will bring Anthony Gose, Jose Iglesias, Nick Castellanos and role players/bench candidates Sunday.

Gose and Iglesias are the only regulars not in the Tigers lineup today. Tyler Collins gets a rare start in center, while Mike Aviles starts at short.

Among the pitchers slated to go today is Francisco Rodriguez, making his first outing as a Tiger.

Yes.
Speaking of rushing, Upton seems to be in no rush to learn his strike zone this season so far. It is a bit scary to see someone strike out that consistently.

The $16M Gamble looks pretty good thru 3 innings today.

Both Pelfrey and K-Rod pitched solid. K-Rod had a K/BB/K/1B/K as his sequence.
