Saturday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Royals

Nick Castellanos returns to the lineup after missing the previous two starts with left groin tightness. So, too, does Dixon Machado, who had been dealing with left hamstring tightness all week. The Royals, meanwhile, are missing shortstop Alcides Escobar, who left last night’s game with a bruised elbow. Omar Infante’s oblique injury, meanwhile, restores Ben Zobrist to everyday action at second base.

Collins is playing well and part of the reason is that he is getting the reps. But, we (and Al Avila) still need to see more of Moya.

Foxsport in español reported this:
Fangraphs, Business Insider and FX pitch teamed and got this result:
Avg pitches in agame 287
Balls in play 47 % . 53 % umpires calls
Missed calls 50 K
14% of the calls
The best Umps: 90 % right
Avg 83%
Worrysome bit: they quoted a figure of the money lost by betting houses.
The numbers are aprox. They talked about during the during the BoSox Jays game

“That’s his decision. He’s the manager,” Verlander said. “Like I said, I always want the ball, so it’s up to the manager to take me out. It was that way with (former manager Jim Leyland), and it’s that way with Brad. If I’ve ever got the decision, I want to stay in. Those guys know that, and that’s their decision to make.”

Ausmus: “With Max, it’s very easy. Max is very honest with you. If he wants to be in, he’s going to be emphatic and emotional about it.”

It bounces and goes deeper

I wish Brad would not have commented on Max.

Likewise. I’m not even sure how to interpret the comment. Is BA inferring JV is a liar as opposed to a competitor?

No, Scherzer yelled at Matt Williams last night.I was unaware of that.Still..

If Casty could just keep his hips in he might be ablo actuall hit some breaking balls
One of the worst breaking ball hitters I have ever seen

Boyd did a very nice job. BA made reasonable decisions in choosing his relievers. AlAl, once very good, has turned into an enigma. He is starting to look more and more like he is done.

Oh my goodness. AlAl wild pitches and balks. He seems to be adept at both of those game-changing qualities.
Wonder what LHB are hitting against us this year and more to the point what are they hitting off of our LHP altogether. I know our LHP in the pen have struggled with this the whole year.

Thank goodness our bullpen pitchers are pretty much going to arbitration or gone.

Victor with a 2 run blast . Maybe he has his swing back. Hope so !!!!

Typical Rondon get ahead of a hitter then bam

Rondon just can’t pitch a clean inning. Now a HR.

Rondon’s velocity is down tonight and he’s throwing to the wheelhouse of KC’s hitters. All of his outs were pretty well struck on top of the damage he gave up.

Just trade him. He has a reputation for triple digits. He has a good slider and a very good fastball but has zero command. Perhaps some team will take a chance on him and give us something in return. Some people will wait a long time for a messiah.
Give somebody else a turn in the cue.

Lert’s face it, he’s not to swift!

They can’t be serious letting Avila hit

Why would you not bring McCann in to hit or bunt?

Nice managerial move Brad!

Seriously having Avila bunt…dumb dumb dumb

Another dumb decision by Ausmus…Avila bunting with Davis on fiirst, DP
I actually believe Ausmus plays to lose.

This made no sense at all. And as most of us thought it did not work out . What was Brad thinking ??

McCann on the other hand can bunt PLUS he is a RHB PLUS he has some speed PLUS he is a defensive upgrade

We have three power RHB due up in the 9th

You don’t see that too often, a Tiger bunting into a double play, but wait, it’s Alex Avila the worse bunter on the team! Ausmus, get your head out of your ass! Take a hike after this season and please don’t come back!

Another nice job by Feliz. He was hitting 98 and his off speed stuff was decent with good differential. I wonder if Feliz might prove to be a keeper. He’s only 27 and his September ERA is 2.70 with a 0.75 WHIP and a .167 BA against.

And Avila… What happened to that guy from 2011?

Overused and too many concussions

Romine on deck to PH?

My bad. I forgot he’s there for Nick.

Runner on 3rd nobody out lousy sac fly boys that’s all boys. Come on

Why limit challenges if they are seemingly endless …lose it you lose it

There we go again. Gargoylezanny unable to get a LHB out.

Mlb replay system bites

Poetic justice

Kinsler is safe this time!

A win something we have not seen alot of this year. Nice job Kinsler ….

1. Victor has a Victor night for a change.
2. Gorzo pitches like he belongs here.
3. Moxie on display two nights in a row.
One of the most enjoyable, unusual games of the year. Major kudos to Ian, Miggy, and Boyd, who did a great job tonight. Can you believe the last time we won four straight was the second week in April? Again to blow three leads, have victory snatched from your grasp, and then to win anyway, is just very satisfying for us old Tiger Fans. I fuss at Ian for those uppercuts, but his defense and flair for the dramatic moments, makes him one of my favorite Tigers. The defense was good tonight. Going to stay positive again. All of my griping hasn’t changed anything, so I’ll sit back and watch the season wind down, knowing that next year will be our year once again.

Kinsler is playing some of the best ball of his career right now. Great to see VMart making really solid contact again. Got robbed of a double today too.
Gorzo somehow managed to get these guys out. High five to him.

Kinsler saves the day…saves Ausmus’s ass…another nice win and four in a row.
Not since early in the season have they done that.
Let’s finish KC off maniana….or let’s say tomorrow.

Difference in the last few games…….Victor and Miguel FINALLY playing like they should.

Yes GK. Their success infuses the entire team with confidence.

Two of the more entertaining games of the season have been played in the last two nights.
Romine is outplaying our highly touted thirdbaseman.
The Avila AB was an old fashioned bunting situation with new fashioned players who don’t know how to bunt. My question is was McCann held out for any particular reason?
What was with the boos for each of the first four KC runs? Very odd behavior. It didn’t sound like children doing it.
Kinsler is this year’s MVP. No question.

Like Denny McLain said to Mayo Smith, who in the bullpen is better than me. Also, you never heard about pitch count.
