Tigers ugh

Everyone >>>>>tigers.

Not everyone. Just rookie pitchers and rookie shortstops.

No everyone

Keep stranding them…….

We leave bases loaded they keep getting two out hits! Same old thing different day.

Sad but some how they keep leaving so many runners stranded .

It’s hilarious how Rod and Mario still active like Cabrera is any sort of threat? He hasn’t even gotten his little single today

Really nice throw by Moya…Guess he has an arm

On that path

Pathetic note Lions I guess!

What I meant,Gk, was that they have rookies who are doing the job. Where are those Tiger rookies? Instead they have multi-millionaire dollar players who are not delivering. But don’t worry, the Tigers are on track to get a top 10 draft pick who may be ready to help in 3 years.

I know……

Radio crew said Jim Leyland was up in the booth with them . Then they added he would be traveling to Minnesota with the team. Whats up with that ??

Probably just reviewing things… his 2 cents

Tigers have organizational meetings in Minnesota next week during series up there. Leyland, other special assistants, scouts, baseball ops people gathering. It was previously scheduled. I believe Leyland drove up from Pittsburgh to jump on the team flight.

What an aweful start to a double header jeez. Tiger’s go as quietly as possible and the Indians do this.

Cabrera bases loaded …….and yes folks he does nothing again.

It looks like he can’t even see the ball. 3 swinging strikes. Average down at least .25 points since a high of .370, I believe. But so what, he probably thinks he has the batting title all wrapped and to he!! with the team. He and Victor have become the empty sinkholes in the line-up. $28 million?

Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd tier players (if you want to call them that) are trying to put some runs on the board.

Miggy bases loaded nobody out…….double play…….

I think Cabrera and V Martinez should be benched. Give some of the other players a chance to play. What does Ausmus have to lose? His job? LOL!

some people pay big money to see Cabrera hit. the hate mail will flow to the manager’s office if he benches the superstar on a day when some disgruntled fan brings their family to the park.

Except he’s not hitting anyway.

Moya had a great quote this spring when he got cut…something to the effect of ‘trying to do too much, I did nothing.’ Significant insight for a young player. Played well today.

6th inning of second game tiger’s haven’t hit a homer since Tuesday

Nearly 8 hours to play two 9 inning games and no, I did not watch all of that. When I attended games in the 60s, a 1:30 DH would end about 6 PM.
Should be a lot livelier in Minnesota this week. Might be fun.

Miggy’s in a hurry to get back to Venuzuela for R&R…..I’m not a hater, just telling it as it is…anybody else they’d be fired or laid off…but he’s a special commodity..
Who’d like to pay big bucks to see him strike out?…or hit into a bases loaded DP?
It’s been happening quite a bit….So Miggy sit it out for a while and give someone else a chance to knock in some much needed runs….

Yeh, I know he’s leading the league in hitting….numbers don’t tell it all.

I guess I am lucky to be in Chicago for the weekend, sounds like I missed nothing.

At the beach. UVA loses heartbreaker Saturday. Lions lose after a huge lead. Tigers split. Taking a few days away, unless something big happens. Miggy must not be healthy; he really is going through the motions.

It is very easy to be a pssed off and disruntled Tiger fan these days.
Miggy is obviously struggling and when he does it looks like he is not trying–the thing is when he is mashing he doesn’t look like he’s trying either!
He is a great guy and a trmendous ballplayer. I hope he finds his way back into grace again soon.
Missed Moya’s triple and game today. did see the replay of the throw. nails.

Hi Dan, Just want to apologize for my feelings toward Miggy(like it really matters)
You are absolutely correct about Miggy…I believe fans booed Babe Ruth….He’ll
come back, I’m sure…yes indeed, would like to see more of Moya, even at 1B…
(every game) till the season ends…Maybe next year!

Watched replay. Not sure why more folks here aren’t at least a tad bit excited about Moya.

The only person whose opinion matters does not want to give him a fair opprtunity.
He is agood defender just moved from his position and the first impression was bad and great game wont erase one misplay with the fans current mindset

Away and missed all games since Wednesday. The Moya throw was amazing Dan. Looking forward to watching tonight. Only about 19 games left. Might as well enjoy Tiger baseball while we can. Will be gone soon for 2015.

Actually I was thinking about Moya a few days ago. Rather than wait for spring training, now is a good time to take a look. They can give him some DH starts against RH pitching. Give Gose a blow by starting Moya in left and Davis in center. JD doesn’t have to play every single game at this point. There are many ways to get Moya in there.
Looking at his numbers this year as an example, his .240 average and extremely high K rate indicates that he needs to make up for it with 35-40 homers. The big leagues are full of low average guys who don’t hit enough homers to justify the long ball approach, but Moya could actually pull it off.

“AL Defensive Runs Saved Leaders- 1B
Mark Teixeira 5
Pujols, Plouffe(!), Smoak, Cabrera 4
UZR leader- Mitch Moreland 5.4
AL Defensive Runs Saved Leaders- 2B
Ian Kinsler 14
Hanser Alberto 8 (190 inn)
Logan Forsythe 8
UZR leader: Alberto: 5.4”

“AL Defensive Runs Saved Leader, LF
Yoenis Cespedes 11 (LOL)( SIC)
Eddie Rosario 9
Kevin Pillar 8 (120 inn)
UZR leader: Cespedes 14.8”

“AL Defensive Runs Saved Leaders- RF
Lonnie Chisenhall 11 (234 inn)
Rusney Castillo 7(348 inn)
J.D. Martinez 5”

Yeah Rich. Interesting how longer careers can change really good hitters into more HR types. You look at guys like Pujols Bautista, A Rod and Teixeira and as the averages have dropped off the homers really haven’t.
There is something about Wally Joyner I like. He was an intelligent LHB, maybe he could help Steven and make him better than a serviceable hitter. The selectivity and strike-outs really need to be addressed and if they were we could see a power bat who can hit .270 maybe .280
Another JD type in the lineup hitting from the left side would be sweet.

How about a Brantley type!

That would be nice! Not too many around like that guy. He is truly a gifted ball player.

The problem with Moya is not average but the low BB%. Dunn had a lower avg but his OBP was high thanks to a high BB rate.A Dunn type with a glove would be a pretty goof OF

Here’s an example of the problem with DRS and small samples. Iggy is a Minus 2 in 2015. In other words, he is below average defensively.

As great a treat as Iggy is to have I do not recall seeing him leave his feet too often like a Lindor, Rollins, Correa , Gegorius etc.
That said we are lucky to have him, very lucky indeed.

Are there analytics to grade doubleplay combinations? Serious question.

one important offseason question will be what to do in LF. if they think Moya is close to being the answer there, then signing a guy like Cespedes or another multiyear free agent blocks him. maybe a RH veteran bat in LF to go with Moya or Collins. Davis could fill that role as well as backup CF, but not sure they’ll bring him back, might want more offense out of LF than he gives.

Davis is done. He will be replaced and possibly with Wynton Bernard who would give them youth, better CF instincts and a significant salary savings. Provided he is deemed ready of course. Regardless, Rajai’s days as a Tiger are pretty much done.
Pitching is the obvious area of most concern and it will take some salary relief in order to obtain enough quality to make a difference. The Tigers afterall, are a last place team and to become a contender next year they can’t fuss around with mediocrity and stop-gap solutions. They will need to make a substantial financial committent or an earth-quaking major trade.
The legacy of David Dombrowski: Detroit is 28th among 30 teams in overall pitching. The Tigers bullpen also is ranked 28th.
Frankly, I can’t see how this bullpen isn’t dead last. There are two teams who are worse???
I guess they will keep Hardy and Wilson. They will hope Rondon becomes a Bobby Jenks or Eric Gagne. Verhagen will be looked to.
They would be wise to cut ties with AlAl, Feliz, Gorzelanny, Ferrell.
They will likely also hope for the best with Ryan and Krol. I see Krol as a possibility.
No idea about the rotation. JV should be dependable but probably not an ace. Same with Sanchez. Wolf needs to find his pack, Simon should never have come to Detroit after the experience with Evan Reed. I understand that has nothing to do with pitching. As to his pitching, forget it. Wears out his catcher and puts his fielders to sleep. Norris will be expected to make the rotation. Boyd will slip into obsurity. Fullmer can’t realistically be in the same rotation as another rookie (Norris). Greene is not confident enough. Lobstein is at best trade material. Farmer is the in the same boat as the other rookie.
Avila really does need to find two above average starters with one of them on the verge of a possible Ace.
No Trade candidates: JD; McCann; Iggy; Miggy and with Castellanos being a guy close to where you wouldn’t want to see him go either.
Maybe Avila can pull something out of the international pool before it is drained.

call me crazy, but if Bernard were in their plans for opening day next season, wouldn’t he be with the team now to get his feet wet at MLB level? suspect he’s going to have to prove himself at AAA before rising to majors.

You are probably right. But I would think they were being loyal to Rajai not calling up Wynton this year. They had Collins, Rajai and Moya to divide at bats. No room for Wynton. If they go out and get Cespedes back ( highly doubtful) then Wynton is AAA bound for sure. The problem is not just LF though. They actually need someone who can play CF in case Gose can’t cut it.
JD is the impact bat in RF–they need ANOTHER impact bat in the field.

impact bats who can play CF are difficult to find.
Fister will be a free agent and fell out of the Nats’ rotation this season. am interested to see where he lands…will Avila have interest in him at this point in Fister’s career?

For sure—I think the impact bat will have to be our LFer not CFer
