Tuesday’s lineups: Tigers at Royals

Anthony Gose gets leadoff duty against Johnny Cueto, whom he has hit about as well as any Tiger. Tyler Collins starts in left field for the first time in five days after Rajai Davis started in left field for the Toronto series.

The Royals activate Alex Gordon from the disabled list in time for a meeting with Justin Verlander, whom he has faced more often than any other active pitcher.

Wynton Bernard will play for Leones del Caracas: Vizquel, JD, Suárez, former and current Leones (The winningest Lions, 6 championships since 1983 , 20 since 1947 )

Genius baserunning there by Miguel ¿¿¿¿¿¿

Another base running mistake . This time by Miggy a easy out at third .

I don’t want to start criticizing every play but with Gose on 3rd, why did Kinsler swing at the first pitch? Make Cueto work and look for a sac fly. Okay, so Cabrera drove Gose in anyway. Great! But then Cabrera runs into the 2nd out. We’ll never know if Victor’s fly ball could have gotten Cabrera to 3rd or if Castellanos could have driven him in. At the very least they would have made Cueto throw more pitches.

And what do you know. Casty gets a hit.

Seems like Miguel maybe shoulda gotten to 2nd on ball he hit ( not sure though I’d have to see it again)

Looks like JV is going to have to pitch a gem again. Wasted opportunities on the base paths by Cabrera. Can seem to score after wasting scoring chances.

I’ll lay off them now. If JV has a game like he has been lately, maybe 3 runs will hold up. But keep going guys. Don’t quit now.

That is on Clark. He sent Collins home

On tv they said it was the contact play….but regardless it’s really annoying.
.
Victor still doing zilch

Clark talked to him before the play

Cy Guthrie. …..made easy work of it!

Shoulda made that play…..same old Tigers

It’s never easy. Rondon always seems to make it too interesting. JV wins number 3.

1. Leadoff Batter get son in 5 of 9 innings. We score in 4 of the five.
2. Julio’s shoestring gem of a catch.
3. Neftali’s retiring of Moose to kill the rally in the 8th. for KC.
Kudos to Ian for the eventual game winner. Also to the good RISP efforts tonight. Rondon got it done, but it’s never easy to watch. JV was effective enough. Critical to the win was working Cueto and keeping him out of a dominant rhythm. And always go ahead before the 7th.

should be gets on

I watched the entire game, but it wasn’t easy.

Did Rondon lose track of the number of outs? He seemed to look Zobrist back on the last out.

Romine, not Rondon.

McCosky provides a list of Tigers bad plays last night. It’s a long list and he even left out a few, such as Miggy pointing into the outfield and risking getting doubled off firstbase.

I was thinking, if Rondon walks Dyson to lead off the 9th it’s over. That close to a blown save. Dyson would score for sure and KC would tie and end it there or later. Thankfully Dyson helped him out. If he would have just stood in the batters box with no bat, he could have walked. This is where Rondon has to improve and hopefully can. He has the stuff but control is an issue. It doesn’t play well in closing situations.

He does not mention the out at home. I chalk it at the coach. Clark was talking to him before the play. And it was the worse plays of all.
Romine? it just the natural instinct and being off the game playing once in a while

I read the article Rich. Romine surprised me on that play too. But I thought it was just one of those head movements to the side as part of a triggering mechanism in throwing. But that kind of nonchalance is usually done only in “plenty of time” situations. With the speedy Cain running, I was surprised to say the least. Looking Zobrist back makes more sense. Either way, a Romine mental mistake. Coupled with the misplay in the 8th, not a good short night for Andrew. Kinsler needs to tighten up too. Too flashy sometimes and misses basic plays. Both miscues cost a run.

Mistake on coaching sending Collins home. He had no chance. Stupid.

I’m not going to look at replays to find out, but it appeared to me that Zobrist came hard at Romine. If that was to distract him, it worked.
I seem to recall KC playing the infield in on the Collins play, so they’d need a much faster and experienced baserunner to make that work.
No excuses; they’re going to have to play much better than this, regardless of the current situation.
Ever since I said Gose was a starting caliber big league centerfielder, he’s done nothing but screw up. Thanks Anthony. You guys are even making the fans look bad.

I think he was better when he was platooning with Davis and Cespedes in left…playing too much.

Watching Reds- Cubs. The Tigers missed badly in the Suárez-Simon trade.
