Friday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Red Sox

Not many matchup numbers on either side. The Tigers go with Tyler Collins in left field and Alex Avila at first base, keeping James McCann behind the plate for Norris again.

I agree Darline (re Fister). In fact, i would be inclined to think that his numbers this year will not get better next year.

Of course we are all interested in how Norris will pitch tonight. He is still an unknown quantity. It will certainly help if the offense and defense gives him some support.

Well, “Cy” Kelly with the 6.00+ ERA struck out the side and has a 2-0 lead. Come on boys!

Shocker tiger’s hitters flailing at pitches out of the strike zone against a crappy crappy pitcher. Disgusting

One slider after another.

We got the Cy Kelly version tonight.

I’m almost done…….what a freaking embarrassment. Pitcher (Norris ) as bad as he’s been tonight the hitters look even worse.

Buck Farmer will save us???? Oh wait he’s bad too.

It can get worse of it might get better in a hurry.

just need a few quick runs.

thank you, JD.

I think Norris has lots of stuff to merit a 60 evaluation. Even I can see he lacks command. The kid is another work-in-progress, like Boyd. DD did us all a favor in getting these kids and freeing up money to compete and win next year.

And Farmer has very good stuff. GK, have a drink and relax.

His 8.05 era says something different.

He’s 24 not like he’s that young anymore.

24. Not young? You yak like you are are a hundred. 28 tto 32 is considered prime time. 24 is a baby RELAX!

Not that young in terms of baseball players anymore. But his fabulous era and whip speak for themselves

Your right he’s the best ever. Plenty of pitchers have stuff but can’t pitch or ger outs. ie…95% of tiger’s pitchers.

Once again Avila gets doubled off on a caught line drive. Useless in many ways.

Dan & Jim were not pleased with that gaffe. Just stood there not paying attention.

Yep Farmer is awesome. …how many times do we here a teamonth is struggling. ..and the tiger’s make them look great..

Thought maybe they could close the gap at 5-2 but very doubtful at 7-2.

Why are the Tigers so pathetic against bad teams? Can’t stand the Red Sox.

Fighting in the dugout. Just great.

What happens in the club house stays there . But the dugout and on TV for all to see. Never good for any team.

Wow! Wonder what that was about?

Lack of control? BA unable to handle the players, let alone the lineup/stategy? What’s the deal?

Not used to that crap in the dugout.

Remember Gallardo versus Avila?

Gallaragga. Sorry.

I must admit, I have have been willing to cut DD lots of slack. But, BA is not part of that garbage! He seems a good and smart guy, but is obviously not ready

I’ll be interested to hear who it was fighting in the dugout.
Also, it is so-o-o hard for me to believe when ElTigre tells me they are 3rd in getting runs scored with runners in scoring position.

Maybe he is looking at small samples or peripherals?

McCann and Iggie. Then Gose got in Iggie’s face.

It’s time to get rid of the pitching coach,,,,
he’s not helping these guys at all….they all can’t be bat hitters!?

Tigers can’t compete against these basement dwellers again????

I don’t speciffically know about the fighting. But, I know when that kind of thing erupts, it is because the involved parties CARE. That is a good thing.

Oh, heck, the fight is all over the internet now. Mr. Goody 2 Shoes, McCann, pointed out a play that Iggy supposedly didn’t make and that got them going. If McCann wants to point fingers, he need to start with his partner, Alex Aliva. He screwed up big time.

Lots of blame to go around starting with crappy pitching crappy hitting and acting like 7 yr olds.

Looking at this whole mess, I am just glad I am not DD and do not need to deal with the whole matter forevermore

Call it a bad f***kin’ divorce!

All the fights and scuffles in the world don’t change the problem with our team, especially over the last six weeks. Sadly, Norris joins a procession of really bad starts, down buy five or more by the third, and then followed by only two or three hitters who are on for the night. Said hitters only come around every third inning, and game slowly leaks away. In the last two innings, a gallant effort is made to overcome the 5+ run deficit, and it falls short. On the way to the end, hitter who is on for the night hits a bomb, and cuts margin to a manageable deficit. Enter long relief, who give up the runs we just scored, and usually more. The other half of our season has been that great OBP which in most of thees games has led to nothing. How many inning tonight with at least 2 on with less than 2 outs. And how many got home? ZERO.
I don’t know what caused the tiff, but I can’t imagine McCann saying anything that would undermine a team mate. Maybe he’s a jerk; I just don’t get that perception. Just another reflection on BA’s management or lack thereof. Maybe Igloo was upset over his AB’s tonight. He looked totally out of sink.
1. Four really good swings for Victor. Didn’t produce much, but showed promise.
2. 6-7-8 in the pen held their own. This is a rare event.
3. Ian on base another 3 times.
Kudos to Julio. This game was about the 20th one where the starter for the opponent comes in with a 4.5+ERA. Terrible WHIP; piece of cake we say. Then we give them the aura of Cy Young. A final comment: I’m not sold on Jones; a good pitching coach perceives the flaw, and oversees the correction. In our case, he doesn’t see the flaw, or our pitchers are flat out awful.

Ortiz must love playing Detroit…some teams must know how to pitch him…The
Tiger manager should have some input(being an ex catcher.) This team is boring..
there’s no excitement in the teams makeup. Gose is a very boring player…on most teams he wouldn’t start. If given the opportunity, Davis wouid be more exciting and
spark the offense…even when he comes in to run for someone…he should be
playing much more….this manager can’t see this,
Another thing, Jeff Jones is still there, that’s troublesome…He seems like a nice
guy, but like they say, nice guys don’t win ball games….Pitching is and remains
their big problem….hitting looks like it wants to turn it around….but it all depends
how they wake up in the morning…
I try watching this team for enjoyment and interest(fan for over 65 years)
I’m losing it…Notice the attendence, these are great fans that really support
this club….Why?
