Did I miss something? Where is Avila’s LHB vs a RHP?

Avoiding the appareance of impropriety

This is a good game. Where is everybody?

I’m here. Well, only 400 miles away. LOL. Boyd is doing well. If only they could give him some breathing room.

Miguel told Venezuelan TV that he will be in play after Toronto

Our local paper. Oakland claims Valencia so he didn’t get far on the waivers. Also uses the word “fired” on DD.

If you go to work and they tell you they are going in a different direction and you are shown the door………..?

Boy these new young pitchers DD got us sure stink. Fire DD.

This umps strike zone is let’s say “puzzling” bUT I’m sure KC is thrilled.

Looks like the Tigers aren’t giving up on the season. First Norris, now Boyd…..this team might have gotten the boost they needed. I’ll bet Miggy is chomping at the bit to be in the lineup.
Keep going Tigers, you have a lot of fans behind you.

Well today Miggy said he was slowing his rehab down so chomping maybe not.

He said he is ready, told Venezuelan TV he will beback vs Houston next week

Not what was being said here

I hope so but there are a half dozen stories in local press how he is slowing his rehab down and won’t be rushing back. He said he hasn’t even run from 1st to 3rd yet? ?????? I don’t know what to believe

They talked with a member the crew currently at CoPa , on air, and he said he talked to Miguel and he said he will back next week vs Houston

Hope so

I’m enjoying the energy of the youngsters and their miscues.

Not a great idea to bring Boyd out for the 7th IMHO

Tremendous debut for Mr. Boyd.

Nice snag by JD….whew

are you at the game?

No….I gave away or sold most of tickets.

crossing fingers.

Great win. One of many to come, I hope.
I guess we will have to wait until next week to see if Miggy is coming back. These conflicting reports drive me crazy.

Well, that was a darn good win to get. Both Boyd and Norris have some skills. It was similar to the Sunday game, with both the O’s and Royals swinging early at elevated pitches. An optimist would like to think the pitchers are fooling them into chasing.
On the Miggy thing, if the club won 8 in a row and got back into the race, there would be temptation to get him back in there. On the other hand, if they won 8 in a row maybe they wouldn’t need him. Joking on that second one there, but if they let him return on his own schedule, you can bet it would be too early. Get healthy, dude.

A pretty smart baseball guy from elsewhere complained about using Rondon in the 8th. My question would be; why would you NOT use Rondon in the 8th? This is audition time. We have to see what these guys can do before the offseason.

The young pitchers have a lot to gain nothing to “lose” and so far they are new to the batters so we will see if they continue to perform against their innings ceiling. So far Norris and Boyd pitched for Detroit like many have pitched against us over the years!
So we have found a 22 yr old and a 24 yr old LHP with above average stuff!

Speaking of Rondon, Dave today suggested that Rondon would have pitched to Ortiz in that Boston blowup. Strange thing to say, but it’s ironic in the end that it’s Rondon and his injuries that caused Dave so much self-inflicted grief.

the zoom giveth, the bruce taketh away

I think both Norris and Boyd have much more up side than the Lobster or Sideburns Ryan. I think it shows again how bad the Farm was. My son follows the National League and says that Fulmer will be a nice addition too. Had no problem with the way Brad handled the Pen or defensive changes. Alex is an upgrade over Marte defensively. It’s so nice to win a game 2-1 with no implosion from the Pen. We haven’t had many of those types of wins.
1. Julio’s defense is still not appreciated outside of Tiger Land.
2. Mr. Cain couldn’t again.
3. Rondon’s secondary pitches were flat out great.
Mega Kudos to Boyd. Has there been another pitcher named Boyd since “Oil Can”?
Kudos also to Mr. Gose for the clutch triple. A very nice win for the Rebooters.
In other news, Nationals have suddenly sprung a leak. With those Met Starters, Mad Max might not be able to get the Nats to the promised land of baseball.

There was a Larry Boyd who played for the Celtics in the 80s. I heard guys in New York talking about him.

I got that, Rich. Not sure if anyone else did. LOL. Good one.

nice game tonight. great start by the kid.

Rondons off speed stuff has always been crazy good….as long as he keeps them down. Great move tonight using Hardy and Wilson. Notable change in the pen since Soria’s exit. Much better feeling nursing a short lead late. Marte and Collins both make me nervous defensively, but that’s par for position players moving up inside this organization. Omar has had a notable effect on Nick, and I would hope to see that continue. Can’t help but feeling like JV is tipping his stuff, still firmly believe he’ll be dynamite in the waning days. Two REALLY nice outings for the new lefties, still don’t trust DD… Toronto? Pittsburg? Mets? Here’s to the O rockin’ KC’s world in the daytime! Sleepingwell in the Northern Frontier of Tigerland!!!

Without the NY accent , he was Larry Bird
One caveat about Boyd, FB become HR 10% . Modern hitters are vulnerable to pitches high in the zone( it is Trout´s weak point)after years of pitchers keeping it down. But GB pitchers ,with a good defense behind, are preferred by most teams. His numbers with Jays a hitter friendly park had a reason. CoPa will keep those flies in but beware on the road
Rondón best numbers are with the game tied. His worst? when down. And his slider is superb. Most runs against him came in a couple of games.
Víctor needs to sit a couple of games. He hit the ball hard twice but he is not yet in form

Ah, you got my silly Larry Bird reference. Thought it might fly right by everybody.

Never mind. El Tigre did too.

I did not see your reply up there, Bob. My apologies for missing it. Next time I’ll go coffee first then blog.

Blaine Hardy 2.45 21% IR best for the team

compiling bullpen on the cheap, and getting what he paid for, led to the demise of Dombrowski in Detroit.

Hardy is a former Royal, I believe, so it makes sense that he’d be one of the better Tiger relievers. KC seems to have the midas touch in that regard recently.

Schmehl:”Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said it “wouldn’t shock me” if Miguel Cabrera rejoined team by the end of the next road trip, which is Aug. 19.”
