How about Verlander throws a good game for his entire outing this time? It would make Avila look good.

Finally, on 7-10-15, we can finally stop hearing about who to vote for in the All-Star game. I did my duty and voted for my 3 candidates and 2 made it the 3rd made very deservedly. On with the game! Go Tigers!! Maybe Verlander will throw a CG.

wish I could re-write that. The third person, JD, very deservedly made it. He’s got the power!

I read an article the other day regarding mccann that while he is among the tops in throwing out runners and blocking he is second to last in pitch framing and they said it cost tiger’s 9-10 runs. So he has a lot to still learn. ..hitting not one of them.

I’m curious as to how they come up with scientific formulas for pitch framing.

Don’t have a clue….seems like there’s a formula for everything now. Way beyond me.

2nd and 3rd nobody out….squat. freaking waste. Jose doesn’t drive in runs….practically ever it seems. Not very productive use of that gaudy batting average.

He doesn’t get to score many either. Mostly, ends up standing on base. I understand Brad’s thinking as to keeping him there at the end of the order, but I might try moving him up after AS game.

Maybe but mccann. …Castellanos and before the lineup switch Cespedes and JD certainly have been on base in front of him.

Well Holaday is the best of the 3 tigers catchers:

Thanks, ElT. Going to an electronic strike zone might finally make the formula a little more scientific, imo.

Interesting. ..article focused only on McCann. I would assume and hope that’s something that you can get better at. And it also said that Ausmus was very good at it maybe he can teaching him some tricks.

yes, and
“The Tigers’ Brad Ausmus ranks it second behind pitch calling on his list of desirable receiving skills, and no less an old-school voice than Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia says, if he had to choose, he’d take a good pitch framer over a good game caller.”

97 MPH

Lots of fans in Anaheim would beg to differ with Mike Scioscia.

Did Torii Hunter really strike out on that pitch? Yes, according to the 1st base umpire.

Looked like he swung also just looked like a plain old strike

Wow. Yoenis!

Cespedes ripped that. …..I could hear that here in Royal Oak.

The bats showed up for game # 2 of this series . Tigers with a nice 6-0 lead .

Looking good JV

Krause does nothing for me. Lennerton is at least an organizational guy who might well do nothing more. But, he is one of ours. Heck, for that matter, I’d enjoy a look at Hessman.

I remember Hessman got called up once upon a time….a lot of what Krauss does kkkkkkkkkk don’t remember his fielding skills.

Good night for JV……feeling somewhat encouraged.

Hessman , unable to hit in 5 countries outside AAA

that was the second out. He was wild but a little help from the defense would help

Same question I asked, EL T.

Ugh…….Rondon. nothing is ever easy with this team.

Oh, this is crap.

Get the outs and end it.

I’d let Avila be Jusin’s personal catcher and always put someone else at 3rd base late in the game.

I’m exhausted what looked like nearly a laugher we have to put up with this crap. Get somebody else up for Christ’s sake.

3 consecutive games and Avila is unable to agree with his pitcher

And pitchers able to get anyone out. Shitty pitchers.

F’em. Serious bullshit.

The Tigers continue to frustrate.

More bullpen problems for the Tigers . JV threw a good game and 6 runs should be enough . Do not want any carry over for the next 2 games.

Mistake 1 leaving that bums Rondon in kid isn’t good shoulda brought Hardy in best with inherited runners soria used for 3rd day

Mistake 2 leaving soria in

Twice had runners on 3rd and you stranded a bunch.

Just when you started to have good feelings they take it right back by showing their overpaid incompetent true colors.

Soria had no biz there. Hardy was the best choice. Soria pitched 3 consecutive games.

Yep I didn’t second guess it I 1st guessed it. Good teams find ways to win bad teams find ways to lose.

On the bright side, JV is back

Yes ET. And why no Romine in the 8th? 6-1, we don’t need the defense?

Just sell and get it over with.

Tack on runs are so important. Kinsler on 3rd, no outs, couldn’t score him.

Agreed Kathy. The final nail just hit solid wood.. Someone check to see how many MLB teams this year have won in the bottom of the ninth, trailing by five or more runs.
I need to step away for a couple of games. JV pitched too well with too big of a lead to end up as a no decision. KC is winning which will put us down 8. There were three good things to like, but right now I’m not in the mood to do anything but vent frustrations. Not good for anyone.
Good Night. By the way, I stopped watching when Soria hit the batter; anyone who follows our team knew what that signal meant. Not gloating, but I’m glad I didn’t see it.

Soria loves to blow big leads….all you had to do is read his face….he was defeated
before he threw the pitch….only the Tigers blow games like this. Too bad,

Verlander pitched a great game…..he must feel like sh–!
How does this man able to face his team afterwards?. That’s alright kid, theres
always tomorrow.
KC makes their wins effortless….Tiger pitchers need mental therapy.

And as I asked last night, Can this team win three straight? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Who are we fooling? KC is far superior to our team. I’m sorry Mr. Ilitch, but unless the Good Lord lets you see 96, you can kiss the Ring goodbye. I apologize for still venting.

I’m so angry I don’t think I’ll be able to fall asleep. Instant headache.

I think that’s the worst loss I’ve ever seen. Is that possible after all these years?
Top of the 9th, 1st and 3rd, none out, meat of the batting order and….giveaways.
As soon as Dozier connected, I went out into the yard and began yanking up weeds at 11:30 at night. There’s a light out there. Some might see that as strange behavior……….

For a long time the pen has been a very large issue. I can see see where Dombrowski has tried. I’m beginning to wonder if he has the needed skill to put together a pen.

Not I Rich. Pulling weeds is quite possibly the best therapy ever invented. The magnitude of this loss is almost insurmountable. I use the word “almost” loosely. Greg, Kathy, I’m with you. Darline, I agree with your explanation from previous blog. At some point you have to maximize returns on players soon to be FAs. I was just hoping we weren’t there yet. Of the 5 you listed, I’d hate to see Price and Cespedes go but they would bring huge returns. Simon, Soria and Avila would bring something. Assume other players under contract would be available for trade as well. Two games over 500 is a terrible place to be having these decisions to make. After tonight, is there any fight or hope left in the team?

Should we win the next two games, and I expect with Simon and Greene that would be a stretch, maybe at the very least one top reliever would give the team an outside chance to continue competing for post season.

Big LHB to clobber RHP.
DD is delusional:
Krause and Avila were 0 for 8 with 5 Ks today. Right on cue.

changed my mind, get rid of Soria too.

Just saw the numbers. Last two MLB season, teams were 0-1057 in coming back from the Twins deficit last night. Comments from our team:”We play tomorrow; we turn the page.” No guys, you were demoralized. In all of my years as a Tiger Fanatic, I have never seen a season like this. We haven’t had any kind of winning streak to talk of except the first few games.Players fall asleep on the bases. Umpiring does us in. Clutch its are not to be found. Rotations change on a weekly basis. You use major league retreads as as a first baseman. And I could go on and on. At least Tram’s teams played up to their expectations; not great, but you knew what you were in for at the park. With this team, it’s a roll of the dice. You don’t know how thrilled and excited I am that Pasta and Mr. Green Jeans are our next two starters. I’m choking on my own sarcasm. Apologies.

They could probably get something for Verlander now and no, I’m not kidding. When I woke up this morning, the reality hit me. It’s just sickening beyond words. I’m pretty mad at Brad, too. Can’t watch today’s game, so maybe that’s a good thing.

Still pretty angry this morning. I’m pathetic. I claimed apathy early in the season. .and I was doing pretty good with that until last night.

For those disenchanted with DD, the Angels or the Jays could end up being his next employer. Or so it is rumored in the press.

DD seems to have reached a 50/50 point with fans. Some great moves and some brutal decisions.

Just abut everyone who is a Tiger fan is angry and disappointed today. I’m mad at Brad. You just can’t wait that long to pull pitchers. I could feel it in the 9th inning when he kept Rondon in there too long as well as Soria. The closer couldn’t even find the plate and he leaves him in there. Leaving Nick at 3rd was another bad choice. There was a play and he couldn’t make it. I meant that comment about Verlander. He has value now even if they have to pay some of his contract. Throw Avila in there, too. Sign Price.
Get rid of Brad. He’ll never learn.
There. I got that off my chest and that is what I really believe.

Well Kathy the thing is you and I are fans and have passion for the Tigers . I have been a fan over 50 years . For Brad, DD, and a host of players they are employees .
They come and go and are just passing thru Detroit .
Long after they are gone we will still be fans of the Tigers . We will be able to talk about it and remember July of 2015 .

Once the dust settles the Tiger fans will be there for the club . Win or lose we will be either at Comerica, listening on the radio, or watching on TV .
Hope this makes some sense . As for the Tigers they have a game to win today.

Probably nobody wants to hear this, but the overall situation this morning is no different than if we’d lost in a more “normal” fashion. KC continues to have their magical season and the Tigers continue to fight for a WC slot. The worst thing was losing to one of their current WC competitors.
Verlander was good and that’s a plus. The bullpen wasn’t and that’s not a surprise.
There are only a small handful of teams playing well this year. For example the Nationals, with their idol Scherzer and “the best rotation in baseball” are all of seven games over .500.
The only thing different here at my house is I don’t have to spend any of my Saturday pulling those weeds.

Brad Ausmus does a number of things I don’t like but all managers do. Last night he should have inserted Romine as per usual although I’m not sure Andrew makes that play either. I’m open to suggestions on how he could have handled the bullpen any differently.
I do believe that Ausmus will take the fall in the fall.

My doctor, noting my chronically crossed fingers, thought I had arthritis but I explained that I was a Tigers fan.
In related news, Tigers rumored to be signing Neftali Feliz.

Wow! I didn’t bother watching the end because of the game JV was pitching (for a change) and the 6-0 lead! KC beats Jays 3-0 with 3 perfect bullpen innings and the Tigers BP cannot even get the final 4 outs? This loss hurts their hopes doubly and WC looks dimmer each day! I won’t bother watching the remainder of this series.

Rich, that’s the funniest line I’ve read in a long time. Thanks for giving me a huge lift for the day,

Tigers likely to sign Neftali Feliz
Should read:
Tigers “UNLIKELY” to sign Aroldis Chapman or Andrew Miller

I missed it. Good thing. I was in the ER. It looks like the Tigers needed a trip there more than me. I’m much better today but how will the Tigers be?

This is first guessing. ..I said why put Rondon in the 9th. Yes I know that he only threw 1 pitch. But he is still coming off of Tommy John.

Secondly since he did chose to leave Rondon in why Soria. Only because he’s pitched 3 days in a,row. I know options are minute at best, but hardy has been good with inherited runnrrs.

DD had had yrs to improve pen not sure he and his staff are good judges of pen talant. Meanwhile KC has em coming out of the woodwork.

Just saw in twitter they did sign Feliz. Yippee another pitCher who can’t pitch
