Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers at Mariners

Seattle 018

Day off for Ian Kinsler, who’s had some success off J.A. Happ but looked the first two games of this series like he could use a day. Jefry Marte gets his first Major League start at first base.

The forecast calls for more warm weather today, which means more drives carrying. That could be a challenge for both pitchers, given Sanchez’s trouble with home runs (18 of them this year) and J.A. Happ facing a righty-heavy lineup.

Woo hoo. Ian has been killing us. His slumps are becoming longer and more frequent.
Iggy is not getting good ABs lately. Topping just about everything. Swinging off front foot

Not fielding well apparently either Iggy that is.

RE; BP
The BP pitching overtime, has ben better. Krol was one batter to long

Hits and runs from the bottom of the order. Good sign. Happ 52 pitches in 2 innings. Tigers may be looking at M’s BP sooner than usual. Iggy made up for that error. Marte a hit. Keep it going, guys. Now hold them, Anibal.

I know they gave that error to Marte…but that looked like Sanchez to me. Tiger’s can’t get out of their own way. Costing Anibal over 10 pitches

Enough with the errors but keep up with the doubles.

Well that might be called a double but that was a single and a base error on Cespedes.

Cespedes had to catch that

Defense giving back

3 misplays, more pitches and two runs

Nothing like Tiger’s pitchers to ger even the most febil hitter going. Like I said this team exhausts me.

Umpires…….ugh

TOOTBLAN. Iglesias 9 SB/6CS

Did Clark send Victor? or was on his own?

Not happy unless were running into outs on basepaths. It’s an artform

Come on Soria……

Soria all of a sudden can’t throw strikes.can’t ever be easy

What the heck’s wrong with him?

That was a strike!

Tigers win and we can put this series in the book . Onto the Twin Cities and we get some sleep I hope .

Are these games getting tougher and tougher to watch or am I just getting old? Both?
Hey, gotta love the way Joe West inserts himself into a game.
Okay, that’s 3 out of 5 without Miggy. Can’t complain about that. Buying time. The replacement 1stbasemen have contributed offensively.

Hope J.D.’s hand is OK. That was scary.

looks like Greene will be back soon. hopefully, he found a way in Toledo to get lefties out. Minny would be a good opponent for him as their best hitters other than Mauer are righties.

Jason:
“V-Mart said he tagged up on Castellanos sac fly trying to force throw to 3B. Stupid play on his part, he said, since Cespedes scored easily”

That came to my mind too

So what’s going on with the Twins? 2nd place. 7 games over .500 and 13 games over .500 at home. Over-achieving? Any sign of a collapse? Not sure who the Tiger starters will be but the only one I have some faith in is Price. Verlander? Simon? Farmer or Greene? Can we hope for no worse than a split?

The disappointment of the game was that Seattle only had 6 hits, but an additional 9 base runners through walks and errors. Usually a disaster for losing. We didn’t help Sanchez much on pitch count with errors, but he really didn’t help himself with five walks. It was great to see the new kid make a major contribution today; after all he’s holding down Miggy’s spot. After Krauss, last night, move Ian to first for awhile, and he becomes the Dominator. Surely was nice to get two; could readily have been three.
1. Two more ribs from Nicky.
2. The Pen held serve again; more importantly, no walks from them until Soria, who has the best control.
3. Keeping Cruz in the park was a major accomplishment.
Kudos to Igloo, Marte, VMart,,Blaine, and Al, and Nicky. Rajai let the one ball fall, but overall didn’t hurt us in center. We take 3-4 from the Twins.
