Since no one is sure how JV will fare today, it would be nice if the defense and offense helped out as they did last night for Price.

I’m interested in seeing what Tito does today. He does everything possible to avoid pitching to Cabrera, so if there’s another runner on 1st and 2nd and one out, does he actually walk the lead run to 3rdbase?
I’m not sure Miggy didn’t swing through those two high fastballs just to set Salazar up for the big AB. That’s an amazing thing for one to even consider, you know?

I think he would l walk him with bases loaded like Showalter did with Bonds . He was more afraid of Victor, but Victor is not there
It was replay of their showdown in 2013. Who writes for Tigers gameday account called it after the SO
“Cabrera shoots Salazar what I like to call “Miggy Face” after being blown away by heater. Almost like “You got me this time, I get you next”

Brad maybe should have given Soria an inning during that 12-3 game Wednesday. Hasn’t worked since Sunday.
So let’s see how hopped up Verlander is at the outset.

Someone needs to work with Durham

Ya Let land always used to make sure he didn’t let critical relievers go too long

Murphy- JV, were they left it

So far, so good for JV. Not good to leave the bases loaded.

Question: Before the shin splints, did Iggy steal bases better than he seems to be doing now?

7 SB is a career high for him in MLB. 12 in AAA

Carlos Góomez is available

So Iggy was never a great base stealer, just a terrific SS.
I was about to say that Carrasco seemed to be settling in, and leaving the bases loaded in the first inning was becoming more ominous as the game goes on, when JD came through with a double and a RBI. Keep chipping away. Hard to believe JV can shut out out the Indians for the second game in a row.

Curses! I barely finished making that remark.

Who is Carlos Goomez? Is he the one they used to call Car-Go? How is he available?

No, Brewers CF. Car-Go cant hit outside of Colorado.

Brewers are selling and he will be FA

Cabrera´s HR :452 ft

Rajai has been the man

Rajai became a bench player as soon as Gose was signed. He is showing them wrong

Ump nothing giving JV the low strike which is actually a strike. Giving it to the other pitcher all day long.

Better get Aviles cause JV is done for the day

JV tired?

As expected, two months off

I know they will not take him out in the 6th but they should. JV gets very predictable when he starts to struggle a bit. He was so predictable on the pitch to Santana that he hit out too. Santana had him timed with 3 or 4 straight fastballs then got another one.
He will not be able to get Brantley out if he goes back out

Two outs and no apparent threat–this is when NC often dumps a bloop to right centre

Don’t know what Casty’s numbers are against Kluber but it is definintely time to play Andrew there.

How long ? Will they allow Castellanos to go the full Raburn road until the point of no recovery?

Regardless what Brantley, Moss and Murphy do here I applaud Ausmus taking JV out

That was not a vintage JV outing, but it was certainly a decent performance.

Congratulations Hardy. …that was spectacular pitching….if your a fan of Cleveland anyway put those pitches right down the middle

5 of 14 IR scored: Alex Wilson

JV has to feel good about his first performance….but maybe not the BP.

Aramís Ramírez, Chris Johnson, Juan Uribe

BTW: Carrasco was one of the best pitchers in MLB after the 2014 ASG

I like Wilson, but he is really not a guy who can come in and K someone as is virtually needed with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. He does better with a clean slate. Part of knowing players for a manager is knowing what they cannot do. So why wasn’t Wilson brought in to start the 6th inning instead of Hardy?

Because Hardy is LH and the Tribe is LH loaded and their Switch batters are better as LH. Hardy has been better than Wilson . 2,63 ERA 1 IR of 13

I guess that didn’t work so well.BTW, now Wilson’s ERA is 1.80 and Hardy’s stands at 3.33.

The run went to Hardy´s ERA but Wilson allowed the FB that scored it. 5 of 14 IR scored. ERA in meaningless for relievers. Hardy 1 of 13

Or ALAL instead of Alex with that man on 3rd

It was the right move, it did not work. That happens

This bullpen is going to let this game get away from them. When Carrasco goes, can the Tigers hit the Cleveland bullpen?

Darline hit the nail on the head. Wilson is not a ‘K” guy. That is what was needed. Wit the RHB up in that situation I would go with AlAl leaving Wilson for late innings (and he is capable of more than one).

ElT… I just checked the splits on Wilson and Hardy. Hardy is 3.00 and Wilson is 2.93 versus LHBs. Hardy is 2.25 and Wilson is 0.66 versus RHBs.

186/ .250/.209 /.459 LH vs Hardy
196/ .222/.294 /.516 LH vs Wilson
The ERA does not matter

Got home from work and thought I’d watch the pre-show. Instead, it’s the 7th inning? Must have started at 4:00.

The game is one of the 3 games on FoxSport

Tope of the order for the MudHens has been good all year (Avery and Machado). Machado is not a shortstop to be dealt away like we have done with the last few. He is a keeper. Great insurance if something were to happen to Iggy but als very capable of handling 2nd or 3rd should the need arise.

Thought JV was good. But he still has this impetuous nature that is his own worst enemy. When he gets fastball happy he still feels he will just throw the next one harder. He paid for it with Santana dearly.

And the bull pen implosions begin.

Al2 IR % 56 before today

Murphy has always hurt us even back with Texas. Won’t be long now till we see Rondon. AlAl is a major league pitcher but I expect he will be traded this summer.

Yeah I know, it’s hard to believe he still would. He has been around a long time. Still think he will be part of a trade.

Selling low. Maybe as a throw in

Be nice if the Tigers could pretend they are Blue Jays for these last two innings!

Talk with you all later. Tornado warnings big time.

Should have. Looks like Casty is heading southward to .200 by the end of the month.

?How about here for Gose?
Anthony is a strike-out in waiting right now anyway. Collins does have a flair for the dramatic. Why not?

The last days of Gorzo

the LH- LH worked

Why do you ever bring in Gorzlanny unless your are up by 8 or down by 8?

The match-up. And he only have Joba and Soria

Gose did get the hit but I think Collins pinch hitting would of been a good idea. A little power threat…. but alas we stranded more runners

JD and Davis , from heroes to villains

Another freaking double play…..what is that 10 left on base? No clutch in these guys.

Patience was in order. Bullpen was what we expect and reluctantly, accept

JD just chose the wrong time to hit HR and then DP. Different pitchers, too.

The game turns when you come out of the 1st with only one run. Look how Cleveland scored runs; runners at third score because their guys hit the ball to the outfield; we give them a hit batter, and he scores on a triple. We have to bust our behinds to score all the time. Two chances in the first to get a runner in from third, and we strike out both times. We get the guys on; we just can’t get them around the bases. So frustrated with this inability to come through with the big hit at the right time. It always comes when the game is over, or you need a two run homer, and no one is on base.
We will get no better until Victor returns or you trade for Joey Votto. The Indian lineup is stacked with lefty hitters. They face one lefty in the three games. Our lineup is heavily laden with righty’s and we will face three righty power arms. If we score more than two off Kluber tomorrow, I’ll be in shock. As bad as he has been, our lineup will be just the medicine he needs. Hey guys, the Tigers didn’t beat Cleveland last night; Miggy and David beat them. I know that’s stretching things a bit, but in reality, nobody came through with a big hit last night. The defense dis excel.
JV did okay for first time out; I hoped for six and he almost got there; he didn’t lose the game. Nicky needs to wake up or get out of the way. Lord knows Gose can track em down in the outfield, but might as well borrow Cash’s table leg. Ian’s up and down hitting is making me dizzy. JMac had a rough rookie game. Our 2-6, while not striking out at Adam Dunn rates, seem to strike out at the worst possible moment in the game.
Luckily, for about the nth. time, both Teams ahead of us, lost again. We still don’t have “Slick Rat”, that one reliever who can retire three batters without walking or hitting someone, but can get the K when needed. Maybe he’ll show up by all Star break.
1. Rags sets things in motion once again.
2. If we had last year’s defense, Indians win 10-4.
3. Had a chance to tie or win; that’s all you can ask for.

Diablo Nesbitt went a third of an inning for the Hens tonight giving up a walk and 4 hits to lose the game.
The Pawtucket starter hit FOUR Toledo hitters tonight!
Jefry Marte is no saviour at 3B but at least the guy is not a strike out champ like Nick.
Actually it is time to play Romine at 3rd again. Casty has almost little chance of hitting any RHP and zero chance at hitting RHP with stuff like Kluber

How is the weather behaving there?

“Diablo” Nesbitt? That’s cold, brother. 😉

I preferred Rajai leading off and Gose 9th and actually got that today. While I’m on that “mini-roll” I have another somewhat obvious suggestion. Since Romine and Wilson make a nifty L-R hitting 3rdbase platoon, start them. They both field better than Castellanos and are more valuable at the plate. I hate to completely dump on a guy, but I think Nick needs to be sent down to get straightened out. I think starting positions should be earned, not awarded.
Sorry Nick.

Went to be when the power went out and just woke up and the re-play game was on in the 7th inning so I still didn’t get to see the beginning of the game. Sounds like a great game, but I was so disappointed they couldn’t get those runners on base in. I’ve made my feelings known re Casty several weeks ago. Go Tigers. Hope they can win it this afternoon

With Victor going on re-hab assignment and will be coming back soon someone will have to go. Romine and Wilson don’t have options so maybe Nick will go down then. Collins has contributed when given the chance so hopefully they keep him awhile longer.

That’s a good point. It also provides yet another LH bat.

Castellanos off. Gose, the SO machine leading-off
