Friday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Indians

Danny Salazar has some reverse splits going on this season, with stingier numbers against left-handed hitters (24-for-112, 47 strikeouts) than right-handed batters (30-for-118, 34 K’s). That explains in part the start for Rajai Davis. That said, J.D. Martinez (1-for-9 with seven strikeouts against Salazar) is sitting in favor of Tyler Collins.

All of this, of course, depends on the weather allowing this game to be played. That was in serious doubt looking at the forecast as of last night, but it appears now that the weather will give them a shot to get this in.

Here it is, as expected:
Morosi;
#Tigers having preliminary trade conversations aimed at acquiring a starting pitcher, source says. They sent Shane Greene to Triple-A today.

I expect 20 SO ,combined, tonight

ElT…I read your recent comment about Fister. That story just won’t go away. For your info, I also read a recent article (Motor City Bengals ?) about the deal. GM Rizzo reportedly felt so strongly about acquiring Fister that he threatened to quit if ownership didn’t pull the trigger on the deal.

Me too, I quoted it here. It is an excerpt from a book that will be published soon

Thou shall not steal with Miguel on base, You dont take away the bat from your best hitter

Lover running into outs on the basepaths.
.
Thought when Ian hit that ball it was out

Urshela played here. He kept Hernán Peréz out of the line-up until an injury

Speed kills. It was a good try by Rajai after the #3 & #4 hitters were done batting. With two out I liked it.
Causes defenses to make a play and perhaps a mistake. Not going to be easy to score many against Salazar so why not?
As to taking the bat out of Miggy’s hands? The upside is another runner on and Cespedes up.

I don’t think The Tribe is going to be shut out tonight so it would be nice if we could cobble together a few precious runs

Wow! And huge play by Kinsler to stand in there and turn that DP as well.

There’s my man Miggy!!!

That is why you dont bunt with Miguel

Agreed. I would not have bunted with Kinsler either.

I see you Rod! Not exactly a “humble” mule eh?

Doggone it. Hoping we could get that run in.

Better be careful with the Indians. They are good in the late innings sometimes.

Miggy Time: “U Can’t Touch This”

In less than 2 1/2 hours, too. Good job David and Miggy. Go Tigers!!!!!!!!

That was a smooth game. Miggy showed up.big time and Price was awesome

You think booing is bad? The BoSox fans are clapping at the first out and that hurt

Nesbitt optioned

Good game, had everything you’d want to see; pitching, Miggy bomb, slick defense (including Romine in the 9th), and smart decisions by Brad.
I agreed with the Davis attempt in the first and for the same reasons that Dan mentioned above. They just nipped him; got to push the envelope sometimes.
I wish I’d been there for this one.

and Iglasias is amazing. A pleasure to watch every day.

Price is finally using his curveball and it is working

Only 6 SO against a pitcher with 11. plus /9

Nice win for the Tigers . Maybe this sets the tone for the weekend .

Price is the antithesis of Scherzer. In in post game interview he deflected to his teams defense. Scherzer would have been giving kudos to himself. His pitching is every bit as good and he’s ten times the person and teammate.

Agree with GK, Price is one great guy. I hope he is still a Tiger next year. Looking forward to Verlander. Go Tigers.

seems likely that Francona has nightmares about Cabrera batting with runners on base.

too bad they can’t throw lefties Ryan or Lobstein vs Indians this time around.

Krol, Hardy and Gorzo out of the pen

When Raburn makes a good defensive play against the Tigers, I’ll admit it kind of ticks me off.
Speaking of defense, just watched both the Twins and Royals make outfield misplays and it appears both will lose because of them. Got to have the D to win.
Favorite quote on Cabrera’s homer from Nick: “I can’t hit a ball that far from secondbase.”

David Price? I’d give him whatever he wants to re-sign. You don’t replace pitchers who are left handed, go deep into games to save the bullpen over the long haul, is a great teammate, and a positive role model.

You are preaching to the choir.

I’ve been singing the same song for months. Glad to hear others chime in.

Gotta spend some dough on something. The Price is right–pay it. I guess a lot will depend on how the season goes and how much the pitching staff and Gose, Kinsler and the Martinez Brothers excite management.

Lot of good comment tonight. David Price would spoil a home team crowd in a heartbeat. I was thinking the very thoughts about his character that some have mentioned already. He is the consummate team player; when he’s bad, he stays with his team;when’s he’s not pitching, he’s the biggest supporter in our dugout; and when he is on the mound, he does it with no flare, with grace and humility, and a genuine love of this game. Don’t let him get away. Miggy put a big hole in the nightgame conspiracy flaw. I’ve never seen one hit that far at CoMerica. They never announced the official length, but I was thinking 465 at least. What a sheer joy to watch him, when he’s locked in at the plate.
1. KinsIggy put on a show tonight; killed any rally chance for the Tribe.
2. The guys had decent AB’s against Salazar instead of flailing away with no clue.
3. Moving Gose to 9, and having Rags lead off; nice move on Brad’s part.
Anxiously awaiting to see the 2015 debut of Mr. Kate Upton. Six strong innings would be great. Above that would be a real plus. Also, anxious to once again see VMart in the lineup again. Kudos to DP, Miggy, Rags, and the stellar infield defense. That means you too, Romine.

I like the kudos directed to Romine. He’s the unwanted one who is finally earning recognitition for his worth.

I’ve wanted Price locked up long term since July 31, 2014. We were going Price over Scherzer all winter.
The man even has a cool Twitter account.

Juxtapose your wants versus a Yankees fan. Your comment is interesting in the sense that a Yankees fan would want Price AND Scherzer AND Hamels.

And Cashman is smart enuff to make even that a possibility. AND I hate the Yanks! But as I posted several weeks ago when they were struggling, they look legit.

And Max? I love him He gave the Tigers 3 very nice years. Wish he were still here. What is there not to like?

Being spent in the 7th leaving the game to Joba while Verlander went 130 to keep Valverde out of the equation.
1 CG while Porcello pitched back to back CG.
Kudos to me
He had a ton of RS

I’d love to hang onto Price but am afraid to even dream about it. His love for the game and respect he gives to his fellow team mates and fans, his shoe fetish, and of course, David and Astro are a package deal.

Almighty Bruce hammered yet again at Toledo.

He’s probably still in the comeback phase from TJ surgery but the problem is we never saw enough of him to really know what to expect when he’s healthy.

True,. But that situation with a man on 3rd and 1 out where you need a K and a walk doesn’t kill you, was the ideal time for a guy like Al

Gorzo in to face Brantley? Get on your horse Anthony!
