Iglesias leaves with left knee contusion

Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias left Saturday’s game against Houston with a left knee contusion after a knee-on-knee collision at first base. He’s listed as day-to-day.

Iglesias had the makings of a big day with another highlight double play in the first inning and infield singles in the third and fifth. On the first single, however, he banged knees with Astros first baseman Chris Carter as he ran out a dribbler down the first-base line.

Iglesias stayed in the game, but looked hobbled running home on Anthony Gose’s ensuing double. He singled again two innings later without a play at first base, but again looked gimpy on his way to second base when Jose Altuve threw over Marwin Gonzalez and into left field. Manager Brad Ausmus noticed and came out with athletic trainer Matt Rankin.

Hernan Perez pinch-ran for Iglesias and replaced him at shortstop.

Iglesias is the reason to keep Pérez. He has been unable to keep the daily grind since his arrival to MLB
Romine starts today. Without Pérez ,who is the back-.up?
Neither Fields nor Moya can play SS. And they wont have meaningful playing time anyway.
And nobody wants to subject Machado to the same fate of Pérez and stunt his development
Who could hit playing once in a while?
Josh Wilson is batting 303 /.355/.384 /.739 in the Minors and he can play SS but he is not part of the 40 roster . Of course, there the lack of Options for Pérez comes in play

This is exactly why Perez is on the team. People keep asking for the reason. Look at Iggy’s history and think about it, folks.

It was during the second inning. Kinsler asked him it he was OK after Carter hit him at 2B. The Fox crew for LatinAmerica said then that he would be out of the game and were surprised when he came back for the third

Jason, You get it correct on your blog and yet let the Tigers Blog make you look like your writing from the box scores on the beach in Maui.
How does this work and who edits and adds video, get on the same page, I’ve been negative on your post only because you are made to look bad at times by Text-Video-Eyes on the Field, not being in agreement.

Trying to juggle obligations of writing on site with keeping the blog going. Still trying to figure out how to balance them both better.

Lobstein to DL. Farmer called up

Dixon Machado called up. Farmer will be called up later
