Sunday night lineups: Tigers vs. Royals

Anthony Gose gets the start in center field for a third straight game. Andrew Romine gets his third straight start as well.

The forecast seems like it has changed a dozen times today, not so much whether it would rain as when, and what the chances of would be around game time tonight. The Dark Sky app is calling for a 68 percent of light rain at 8pm, turning potentially heavier as the evening rolls on. The radar, however, suggests a potentially dry evening if the worst of the system stays to the east. Stay tuned.

Chris Young taking Vargas’s spot. Well is it bad if I pray for rain?

LET’S TRY A LITTLE DIFFERENT STRATEGY…..TRY HITTING THE BALL.
CHRIS YOUNG LOOKS LIKE A FARMER ON THE MOUND….A WISE OLD DUDE.
LET’S TRY UPSETTING HIM….WITH SCRATCH HITS,, BUNTING…ANYTHING!
HE IS TOUGH…. ANOTHER THING, THIS TEAM IS HUNGRY!
GOOD LUCK!

I’ll take the rainout and I’m not kidding. This game has a big block L stamped all over it. Zero confidence that these guys can ever hit Young. I’m usually more positive………….

Rain in Detroit looking less likely. Bummer

Rich no such luck?

Bad location, twice

Second hit in two games

Chris “CY” Young tosses 81-86 mph BS up there and gets these tabbies to make soft outs. He has the Tigers number for sure.

aww c’mon guys cheer up

Our team needs to strike batters out and hit home runs to win more consistently.
These ground balls are nice but no contact means no hits.

Chris Young makes them look really bad.

Plus they act like they have no energy and dont give a s— . I had also hoped it might be a rain out .

This is anybody’s game. Don’t give up on the Tigers yet.

A good game by Greene …fielding good….tiger’s hitters not so much theyes have pretty much sucked for a while.

I’ve enjoyed this game so far. Will really enjoy it if we win. Another heart attack tie gam.

game. Go Tigers!!

Wade Davis is no joke, is he?

Uh oh Sorias control seems a little off. Rain

Oh, I can’t stand this.

Again, this is what you get paid for Miggy!!!

Of all times for a rain delay. This has been a good game, win or lose. Great to see Greene back in form.
Chris Young is a good pitcher. It’s not like he only shuts down the Tigers.

Tired….either start it or call it. Please!

I worked all day and am trying to hang in there. Will probably watch the rest from the comfort of my bedroom. Please, Tigers, win it for all us mothers!

I can’t believe you just pinch ran for Miggy

WHAT THE MOTHERF– did brad just lift miggy?

Yoenis. ….not a pop up

And JD pop ups and Miggy is out of the freaking game

Awesome. ………you had your shot and Yoenis and JD not advancing runners. Miggy is out of the game. Hell why put Rajai in there if you’re not going to have him steal.

brad brad brad….you have me shaking my head

And that’s how you advance runners. KC looking pretty smart…and that is how you score. Tiger’s have a superior hitting lineup my ass.
.
Crap that ball didn’t even hit him.

Perez. ….you couldn’t have done anythung worse. Wait Cabrera shoulda been hitting there but your manager is a idiot.

Bases loaded and nobody out and you didn’t do crap. Great hitting team my ass. How many opportunities did you need.

Personally, this team needs boycotting….they are miserable….good-night!

Perez ends up hitting in Miggy’s spot at a critical moment. Out of viable options. Ugly situation.

Brad again did not manage his team well.
The pinch runner was ill-advised. If it happened to be Victor then yes but not Miggy. Miggy knows how to handle himself on the bases.
You put Rajai in –then send him. It should be simple.
Kinsler bunting was absolutely absurd. Perez was due up next and he would have been a K with men on 2nd and 3rd. When Kinsler walked I hoped Perez would just whiff and not hit the ball because I figured he would do the same as he did in his last at bat last year. Essentially he did just that.
Kinsler has been getting his singles and is quick enough to stay out of the DP.
He got himself into favourable counts and Brad still had him bunting. Poor managing.
And our RHB–how on earth can they be so bloody awful? They can’t even square up an at bat against guys who can’t throw strikes.
This is not a team right now. This is a motley group of unconfident under-achievers. Horrible. Should have been swept.
Royals have swag, character, personality and genuinely there for each other.
They are a much better team at this stage anyway.

There’s no doubt KC is a better team right now. Anybody can see that except maybe the national media.

Wow, a good game turned into a bizarre one after the rain delay. Phantom HBP, struggling relievers, controversial moves by both managers, etc.
Since there was only Perez to replace Cabrera, I probably wouldn’t have pinch run for him, although I would have with a better bench. Brad also had used Soria and Nesbitt, and then you start getting into Joba and crew, so he was going for it in the 9th.
It’s all academic if our #5 hitter had come through at any time. The entire team needs to be more selective and patient.
So we don’t see KC again until August. Hopefully by then we’ll be healthy and maybe even have made a deadline trade. There have been a slew of injuries this year.
