Thursday’s lineups: Tigers at White Sox

What initially looked like a day game off after a night game for Jose Iglesias actually was an aggravation of his groin injury. Not sure when it happened, but Brad Ausmus said he noticed it when Iglesias scored from second on Victor Martinez’s eighth-inning single last night. He’s out of the lineup this afternoon and possibly tomorrow’s series opener against the Royals.

“It’ll probably be a couple days, I would think,” Ausmus said.

Hernan Perez gets the start today.

On the White Sox side, Avisail Garcia moves up to the cleanup spot against the lefty, flipping spots with Adam LaRoche. Gordon Beckham gets the start at third base.

  1. Adam Eaton, CF
  2. Melky Cabrera, LF
  3. Jose Abreu, 1B (1-for-3)
  4. Avisail Garcia, RF (0-for-3, K)
  5. Adam LaRoche, DH
  6. Alexei Ramirez, SS (0-for-2, walk, K)

  8. Tyler Flowers, C (1-for-3, HR)
  9. Micah Johnson, 2B

P: Jose Quintana

When Iggy was running the bases, he re-aggravated it.

Iggy could benefit from a few days off. Aggravating a groin can be an injury that persists and diminishes skillset.
Why not put him on the 7 day “Concussion List” (you could say he hurt his brain shaking his head while watching Joba get clobbered and not removed by his manager).

They need to show Castellanos video of Beckham catching that line drive off the bat of Kinsler.

Is Ausmus holding the dust pan for a Chisox sweep?
JD, Casty and Avila?? Murderers row.
Why on earth he playing Avila against Quintana. Suicide.
This is pitiful and Ausmus really is beginning to annoy me.

How far is it from Toledo to Detroit?

McCann caught a million pitches last night in a game that went to nearly midnight.

JD Mart looks like he’s out of it with 2 K’s in 2AB’s! Send him down to Toledo and let him try to get his swing corrected. JD/Casty/Avila (K/Fly out/ground out) real threatening AB’s! Mudhens and Seawolves aren’t exactly breeding a winning attitude either.

Yes, Rich but he is afteral a kid. A stud, if you will. I’m pretty sure he can handle it and it would have also been a good idea to put him right back in there after the base running gaffe.
My point is with Casty and JD sucking why sacrifice another at bat in that part of the lineup. Avila has little or no chance against Quintana.
Plus I just like the kid.

Here we go…… an error and the white soxs are cooking. And the Tigers seem content with 1 run

Laroche is going to be very dangerous right here

Got away with it. That SHOULD give us a little energy shouldn’t it?
Seemed to me that Melky should have been called out on the poor throw by Kinsler.
Clearly out of the base path.

Fields 2 more doubles today, hitting .329. Good field, speed and LHB

Thataway to support Lobstein’s good effort so far. Very little hitting and an unearned run from an error.

Ya any high school ump should’ve seen Cabrera was out of baseline.
Nice play by Avila to catch that pop up bunt.

Poor Kyle. Pitching his heart out and probably cannot allow any more runs.

Dan, yes Fields is having a solid start, can he play RF in place of JDMart? Does he split with Gose in CF and let Davis have most/all starts in RF?

If JV ever comes back, how can you send KL back to the farm?

Even when JV gets back in form and in the rotation, we still need another SP (Farmer or a trade) as Green will be shut down around 180 IP’s and Lobstein cannot go a full season either. Simon has the jury out on him and his toss n’ catch stuff. Wish list is 1.) solid setup guy, alternate solid Catcher (Avila is not the answer) and someone from the Minors to get hot and take over the RF spot.
Also, possibly need another SP to get them from July 31st to the playoffs (a rental w/an option for 2016).

Please Alex continue to just hit into the shift…..don’t try to counteract it.

Brad better not get comfortable with Lob’s performance. He has been and was abgain today-very solid but this team needs to score some runs in the last two innings in order to win this game.

And Victor is showing us why he just needed to be left alone. I am happy Brad did not sit him.

Walking JD for Nick. Unbelievable.

Cespedes is becoming a rally-killer too.

Always trying to hit a HR.

So does this buy Casty one more series with that RBI? Oh, yeah, I know, there is absolutely no one to replace him.😦 Do they have to wait until 40 games to make some evaluations and/or adjustments?

Soria in the 8th. This ought to be interesting.

Ump show……

The Lobstein Advantage today!

Outstanding performance by Lobber…..again. He’s carried his weight and more. Perhaps we have a little depth in the SP department.
The way the White Sox play the game, they should never win. I’m glad that’s not my team; I’d give up baseball.

I’m happy to say Lobstein is proving me wrong about him. He pitched like an ace today.

True, and the key word is “pitched”. He will be the kind of guy that occasionally will either ‘lobber’ the opposition or get “clobbered” himself.
He has been stalwart

It is a much needed win . The next 2 weeks will not be a cake walk . Kansas City, Twins and then the Cardinals . The Cardinals are hot a few runs wont cut it against the Cardinals . Lobstein did a nice job today hope he keeps it up .

1. The Lobster rolls on as a very dependable “five’.
2. Team Base running very good today.
3. Never got behind from start to finish.
Kudos to VMart for a second straight game. He’s about 75% from the right, and in the neighborhood of 30 from the left. Hopefully, he continues a steady climb. Ian had a good bat day; was hosed on his last AB strike. Rags makes things happen when he gets on base. Julio remains lost and so does Nick. Would not bat these two back to back right now. Mr. Soria just does what he’s paid to do. Bring on the KCR’s for Round Two.

Yes, time to sit or send down JD

There is no place for another OF right now, with Iglesias in doubt they need both Romine and Pérez

I think JD may be someone who would benefit from some ABs away from it all. I have confidence he can hit like last year but his head is wrong right now. No matter who gets called up, both Rajai and Gose can play at the same time and add some speed in place of some pop for a short time.
One could almost say the same about Nick, but they can’t both go down at once. Seems to me JD would benefit the most as long as he buys into the reasoning for the move. Or maybe he breaks out this weekend and this post will be laughable.

For sure- they really should consider sending him down to figure it out if he struggles against KC again. He can obviously hit.
Can’t have too many “dead spots” in the lineup, especially if you have other roster problems such as bullpen and rotation. This is a very vulnerable team but one that can win if everything pretty much goes well and is managed properly

Got Tigers!

Go Tigers!!! Take the series from KC.

JD was batting behind VMart until recently, now you want him in AAA? C’mon guys, if you want him to bat with less pressure he should bat further down in the lineup.

JD is definitely going thru a rough patch similar to that stretch Miggy had last season. To me, he’s still solid. Heck, V-Mart looked hurt and weak just a few days ago. And now he’s tearing it up. Hopefully, JD comes around soon.

JD just needs to get the bat on the ball, even if it’s an out. You have to be able to see the ball to hit it and he’s just not seeing it and too much swinging for the fences.

wait didn’t he get 3 walks the other night? 😉 just saying.

Nathan was moved to the 60-day DL. Open roster spot.

Nick Nick Nick…..
