Thursday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Yankees

A little late on this, but here it is. Just a regular day off for Jose Iglesias, according to Brad Ausmus, who expects to do more of this on day games after night games.

“We still have to be somewhat cognizant of the injury that Iglesias had last year, and give him — at least for a period of time — some breaks,” Ausmus said, “more than you would another regular.”

Hernan Perez thus gets a second start. Also, Alex Avila and Nick Castellanos were subtly flipped in the batting order.

On the Yankees, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira both get the day off, giving the Yankees two fewer power threats against Anibal Sanchez.

With Nathan done and Rondon unsure, DD is going to have to look seriously for other alternatives. Any free agents still out there? A trade may be difficult this early in the season. I rather doubt there is anyone in the system, is there?

Good to see Sanchez having a good game.

Keep it up Sanchez. Nathan is washed up and Rondon is just like Zoom Zoom

Can they do a review of the balk?

Apparently third base ump does what the Yankees tell him to do. Sorry that is bull

Mad Brad got tossed.

It looked like a balk to me. Is there something I missed?

It was of think the problem they had is non of the umps saw it and the Yankees called it….and u.please cowered.

anyone remember when bad offensive stretches like these were clearly Lloyd’s fault? hahahah.

🙂

Three losses in a row is not an option. Please, get it going Tigers!

Cole, Burnett, Liriano, Sale, Samardzija,CC, Tanaka. That is a recipe for a slump

why is AnnĂbal there?. 100 plus pitches

Sanchez pitched well and kept the Tigers out of the BP as long as he could. Unfortunately, his slow delivery allowed a SB and his balk later allowed the runner to score.

great game Sanchez – you did your part – bats and bullpen time to do yours

Pretty disappointed in the Tigers the last few days. Just not as good of hitters I thought they were. Good hitters should be able to do more than this.

Yeah. And now they get Betances and Oliver.

2 runs on 2 hits. Jeez.

They may as well call the game now…Tiger’s don’t seem to care. …umpires are taking care of the Yankees ..so why bother.

The pitching was good, just couldn’t score any runs.

6 innings. 101 pitches and the balk. it was time to call the BP

It’s probably not quite the right time yet….but even if it was….i doubt we’d see Ausmus motivate these guys via tirade. Hopefully he has a different technique though, because these guys look uninspired.

Whining because it’s cold. ..didn’t seem to bother Yankees though

Absolutely no leadership from Miggy right now; rest Victor for two weeks, and have Collins DH; would be no worse than what we have. How many years have all of us ranted about the Bullpen needing an upgrade to no avail. If we don’t lead after 7, wer’e not going to do very well against these high quality pens. Sanchez was much improved, but the walks kept him from going deeper. I don’t even fault Gordzelanny for the run. The offense, which Rod raves about, is awesome against garbage pitchers, and mediocre against the best. Gose’s speed has not been utilized at all; Kinsler looks like a duck out of water; Yankees had 6 free rides plus the balk.
1. Julio swung the bat well.
2. Cespedes made a solid defensive play.
3. Pin Stripers had only three hits with 11 K’s; problem is we only had three hits with 10 K’s of our own.
Not sure we’ll do very well this weekend. The homestand is an official bust. It’s a long season.

First series of the year that they lost. Scored only 9 runs in 4 games.

Tigers and their bats looked pathetic this series and when the starters could not go 8 IP, the bullpen caved in and they ended up with 3 losses out of 4 games at home. While Sanchez was at 101 pitches after 6 IP, Tanaka went into the 7th inning after only 68 pitches. Not their best baseball after the hot start. Turn it around tomorrow.

Xavier Avery:.359/.390/.410/.801 No power or Collins 222/.302/.278/580 0 HR. Moya..188/.206/.406/.612 , 2 HR Lakeland
Lennerton: 306/.359/.472/.831 but he cant play OF or IF beside 1B

They just showed Miguel, Iggy, and JD at the Wings game.
