Monday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Yankees

Victor Martinez and his sore left knee get the start against Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia. But batting right-handed generally hasn’t been the troublesome side for Martinez. The Yankees have three right-handed starters in a row for the rest of the series, so it’ll be interesting to see how many of those games Martinez starts.

“There’s a plan in place,” Brad Ausmus said. “I won’t get into specifics, but hopefully it works.”

With a third consecutive lefty starter, James McCann gets a third straight start, as does Rajai Davis.

insert complaint about the lineup!

Windy cold and generally crappy here in Detroit miserable night for a game

Okay. You made your generally crappy comment.

I’m not feelin’ it tonight.
Hope I’m wrong.

OK. 2 solid pitching performances and some really good defensive plays by the Yankees in the OF to bail out CC! Simon giving up a HR is the difference.

Well, you can’t say we aren’t watching some gold glove defense from both teams.

anyone else seen the pictures of the hot dogs in KC on dollar dog night? *BARF*

Yes. They are the food service for prisons in MI. Food poisoning, roaches, rotted food, etc.

That’s absolutely disgusting

and that’s just the food part, gk. The personnel problems are off the charts.

Iggy has shaken his rust loose. The boy is ON!

That’s it Tigers!!’

Head up play by JD

That was strike but…

Fabulous game.

So, that is how a clean save looks

I can’t remember having more fun watching a Tigers team. This is exactly the brand of baseball I like, too.
Iggy is going to get arrested if he keeps making plays like tonight.
Could be wrong, but I think Miggy tweaked something yesterday.

That NY outfield can play some defense! Where are those folks who were unsure of Simon, now?

Vmart looks like he should be on the DL and Miggy isn’t far behind. Perhaps the former should get off of his feet and the latter should be DH-ing — maybe just for 2-3 games over the next week. Romine/Perez could use some action anyhow — it’s a long season…lets get our boys healthy – sheesh.

Without Miguel at first a couple of Iglesias play would have been just circus with not out. Throws after that kind of play wont be perfect and he needs the help of a good first base
Hitting 400
He was checking his wrist, with the cold weather bad contact can have consecuences

1. Big Pasta walks no one, nor does anyone else.
2. Yankee speed kept in check offensively; not so on the defensive side.
3. We win a big one with nothing from Cabby.
Kudos to Joba and Soria. Again, no snorting, spitting, or walking around the mound with each pitch. Throw the ball; get the out. I am out of any words to describe Igloo’s defensive prowess. He’s going to save a bunch of runs for us, and kill a lot of rallies for the bad guys. If this team were 100% healthy, we might go 35-5. Wouldn’t that be historical, now?
