Friday’s lineups: Tigers at Indians

Cleveland 005

It’s a blustery day in Cleveland, with the winds blowing left to right, and it’s getting colder by the minute. So basically, the weather you thought Detroit escaped on Opening Day back on Monday, the Tigers are going to get today in Cleveland’s home opener.

Tigers stick with their same lineup. Indians also loading up with left-handed hitters.

Everything OK with Rajai? Has he played since opening day?

Glad to hear Joe won’t be picking up any baseballs soon. We’re going to need his golden arm down the stretch. [grin]

The Tigers haven’t faced left handed pitching. Rajai is not going to play much against right handers if the other outfielders are healthy, especially if Gose continues to get on base.

that’s fair, i certainly haven’t looked to see handedness this year (in our opponent starters)

Hitting a lot of singles but not in the right order. 7 lob yikes

Simon isn’t having an easy time with strikes

Simon is doing just fine

clearly i jinxed simon

Better get the BP warming.

Might be ti.e to get someone warming.

Well, I hope Al does better this time around.

That escalated quickly

Nick is not the phenom we wanted to see…someone like Trout or Harper. But, he is looking better defensively now and not like the statistically worst 3B in MLB. I hope he turns into someone like Ron Cey. Reliable defensively albeit with limitations. But able to regularly pound 20 HRs and 80 RBIs. A valuable Tiger he could be.

Starters like Price are indeed priceless. Inning eaters keep the BP out of the equation. A seemingly necessary feature for our Tigers,

Soria, now thats a Closer! We gotta say goodbye to Joba and Joe! Good start by Simon, had a hiccup in the 6th then we almost let them back in the game. Good start to the road trip!

Lot’s of hits from the land of the Mad drummer. Sadly for Tribe Fans, the hits belonged to us. Really liking the look of this batting order top to bottom. Good clutch hitting today. Good defense to close down the Tribe in the 6th. Victor and Mig seem to be honing into form, and Nicky hits a nice one to the opposite field. Al did a nice job, as well as Soria. Not ready to give up on Joba yet. Three things that really stood out today:
1. Tigers put up five before Cleveland scores.
2. Tigers put up more when Cleveland scores.
3. The offense didn’t allow McAllister to ever get comfortable.

This lineup is looking like the best lineup I can remember since i started closely following in ’03

Before Sheffield ran into Polanco, 2007 probably was better. The 2008 one was not bad either

the year before, and first year of, miguel …. don’t forget neither year we went to the playoffs … dead last in central in 08

On paper, they were better. The 2007 team had five 300 hitter until just before the ASG

The BP is still a concern, but that lineup is straight.

Another good outing today for the Tigers . Offense and defense both did their jobs . Tigers get the W all is well .
