Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Marlins

The original plan was for Miguel Cabrera to play across the street in a minor-league game at DH today and play first base tomorrow. Instead, Cabrera felt good enough that he talked with head athletic trainer Kevin Rand and got clearance to play first base. Thus, Cabrera and Victor Martinez are in the same lineup, giving the Tigers close to a regular lineup for their first Fox Sports Detroit broadcast of the spring.

Cabrera isn’t the only return to first base today. Don Kelly not only makes his return to Lakeland, he’s batting cleanup.

cabby had a “talk” with the head trainer😛
.
more importantly is the return of the don. the guy. can. not. be. stopped. he’s amazing – he can do anything! What a ballplayer!

Simon has been completely unimpressive so far….actually a lot of our pitching has.

We may see Simon in the BP at some point during the season and Lobster, Farmer or Ryan added to the rotation. Simon’s had 1 decent outing this spring.

Simon: Watching paint dry. Where is passion? I don’t see it.

spring training passion?

Spring Training passion is often limited to guys trying to make a roster. For veterans, it’s usually more of a process than a passion. Phil Coke, who thrived off game adrenaline, often had trouble pitching in Spring Training because he couldn’t replicate that in games that don’t count. Now that he’s fighting to make the Cubs roster, that intensity is coming a little easier.

Good to see Don Kelly playing well. Also good to watch Reid Brignac who playing some minor league ball in Battle Creek for the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays (2005). Holiday’s granny was pretty sweet, also.

Evan, Papa has been getting hammered.

looks like he’s got 3.2 HR/9 going….. lol

iggy’s BA is getting troublesome

Evan, I think he will be OK. He just needs more at bats. I am actually surprised he has been making as much contact as he has. I remember talk of him hitting 2nd and my thoughts were no way–not after a year off. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t really get it going till after the All-Star break.
I hope we start to see a little more out of Simon, Spring Training or not, he seems uninspired to me.

Remember how long it took VMart to get his bat going when he was out for a year. Hopefully that means Iggy will be ok eventually as well.
