Thursday’s lineups: Tigers at Nationals

After last night’s game in Bradenton featured the Tigers’ healthy regular fielders, their top four outfielders are all in the lineup for today’s trip to Florida’s other coast to face the Nationals. Rajai Davis will be the designated hitter. There’s also a pretty short pitching list, so look for Anibal Sanchez to get stretched out today.

  7. James McCann, C
  8. Josh Wilson, 2B
  9. Andrew Romine, 3B

Wow, good to see Sanchez throw 5 strong innings and AA throw a nice 6th inning this afternoon. Scoreless after 8 innings! JD Mart & McCann have 2 hits each. I think McCann makes the team but don’t know about Holiday’s Minor league options, we would hate to lose him as he’s a good defensive catcher.

2 options left

Good pitching from all. Will be glad when the regular season starts.

I think Bryan most certainly has options left as he has only just 1 year of MLB service time.
Good guy but realistically destined to be a backup catcher at most.

Good Game! Sanchez vs. Gonzalez ended up scoreless and the Tigers were missing 4 regulars in Miggy, VMart, Kindler & Castellanos! This could be a potential WS matchup??

So far:
Do the Tigers miss Miggy & Marty? (Ya’ think!!)
We have a huge conunundrum still in the bull pen. Shame on DD for allowing this to happen again.
Iggy looks like he will be OK. He is swinging over the ball a lot but then he has missed a long time. He will be an anchor.
Avila does not seem able to become the Avila of old.
Castellanos has bulked up considerably.
Gose just may make a significant contribution offensively.
JD looks to be able to be a force once again.
I don’t know we have been able to overcome the loss of starters like Fister, Max, Ricky P and Drew Smyly in 14 calendar months, but it is possible we have.

Brad Ausmus has named David Price the Tigers Opening Day starter.
Tigers PR

lil ego knock of ole’ justin. to keep the fire burning!

Brad chose the 2nd best pitcher in the game to start opening day. No brainer.
I hear Tom Gage is joining FSD. Great news.

who is he replacing? please say john keating.

Congratulations to David!
.
And the news about Gage is wonderful!
.
No radio broadcast today. Bummer!

Simon was rocked.

Yeah, I just checked gameday. Holy smokes.

how did he get rocked with that arsenal? he must not have had late break. wow.

On Twitter one of the beat reporters said the balls were smoked too…very very hard hit balls not like it was a bunch of bleeders.

gosh, by the sounds of it, Simon might be a better fit for the bullpen X)

Simon coming to the DH lineups of the AL, getting semi automatic outs from 8-9 in the NL. Think what max will do with those bottom 3 in NL games.
Greg

spot on, greg. albeit, that’s why max makes 10-15MM dollars more

When your team has one win in 12 games this is the kind of article that can generated:
