Thursday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Phillies

The Tigers split squads today, but a lot of the story in Lakeland today will be the pitching. Justin Verlander makes his second start of the spring. Bruce Rondon makes his first game appearance almost a year to the day since his last appearance before Tommy John surgery. Joakim Soria will make his first appearance since the blister problem a few days ago.

After JV threw 3 good innings and Soria pitched a good inning, Nathan is getting lit up for 5 runs on 5 hits, 1 BB and an error in the 5th inning!! Will be interesting to hear him say what he was working on this game.

oh Joe

Wow…is Nathan in midseason form or what

Tomorrow has to be better for the Tigers . Could it be worse ?? Well maybe it could . Fix Nathan please before it becomes a huge issue .

….and Cespedes exits early with a tight quad. How many Tigers are now on the “watchful waiting” list? Miggy, Victor, Iggy, Avila, Rondon. Will Joe Blow even make it out of ST?

Well, since it is Spring Training they do tend to be overly cautious. Don’t worry about Cespedes, he has been very durable and he is in a contract year. This is a spring training non-story I hope.

The new commissioner is already the worst ever. First, messing with the game to please the casual fan and the dying networks.
Second, this WWF stunt with the supposedly funny Ferrell( he is at the same level of AS)

That’s entertainment, El Tigre. Entertaining the Arizona crowd in spring training. Hollywood has become more and more a part of pro sports In one way or another.

I’ll never forget when the cameras caught Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard casually seated in the stands at Comerica in ’06 at one of Justin’s games.

Well don’t forget the 70’s were full of stunts to get people to the ball park. But I wouldn’t know since I was born in 84.

Im aware of the 70 and 80 and it did not work: Finley and the donkey plus the green and yellow uniforms, Bill Veck and disco demolition night(It worked for us, we won the game) , Turner pushing a ball from RF to home with the nose.

I guess it was for the Bert Campaneris cancer charity? The details weren’t readily available and I wasn’t going to spend time looking for them. Maybe next time it will be someone I like.

How long before they eat Nathan´s contract? he is beyond recovery

22 days………

The Nathan drama has only begun my friends – he will get at least 2 more opportunities to right the ship.
With that said, if he can’t help this club he isn’t going north with them – that has become obvious, to me, recently.

my best guess is he is DL’d (15 day) and then on extended minor league rehab…

No more ex Twins.Span is injured and he was the only one with real worth
