Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. White Sox

Andrew Romine has never faced Chris Sale, but for a rare time this season, manager Brad Ausmus is playing off Romine’s switch-hitting success against lefties (17-for-51, three doubles) and giving him a shot. Under most circumstances, it’s a defensive play, but even in his lower-strikeout form Justin Verlander’s not a ground-ball pitcher.

Hope JV has an awesome game!

lets see some effort fellas – hopefully last night snapped us out of our daze (offensively)

I hope Cleveland has some ambition not to be eliminated from the wild card race.

JV always has trouble early. Let’s hope that is the end of it.

Sale’s last outing was not good. He tired(?) and gave up runs in the middle innings? Maybe that was why they pushed his start back 2 days and he is done for the season. Could the Tigers’ game plan be to get his pitch count up so he tires again? They have him up to 38 so far.

Exactly, he is younger than Porcello and after being a reliever he reached 200 IP in his second year as starter. He had elbow problems early in the season as expected from his slider. They are just preserving their young Ace

Verland looks pretty locked in now! They just need to work Sale’s pitch count up and get into that bullpen.

c’mon Rajai – that was very catchable!

this is a critical point in the game —- c’mon JV!

This offense or lack of is getting frustrating. Pop ups, K’s, weak grounders, DP balls every game. At least they got Sale up to 86 pitches.

C’mon Docc – that was a garbage throw! That is exactly the kinda stuff we don’t need!

Congrats guys – *****ty defense and we’re now we’re losing!

Perfect control for Sale until he hits Victor

GOOD MAN CASTY! YOU DO JD!

Pretty calm bench clearing, not much went on.

Lets put in some WORK on this bullpen!!! This first guy has trouble locating his pitches.

Did Sale claim little Vmart is stealing signs from center field for Victor?

then how the heck would little victor relay the signals to his dad?

Suicide squeeze! I love it.

GK, if you are at the game today, you most definitely are getting your money’s worth!!!

Love the squeeze too. This is fun to watch.

OK now that we have a 5 run lead…..I think we can go easy on this bullpen. They need to be fresh for this big series against KC, right!?

KC? Next series is with Minnesota.

port – no I mean we want CHISOX bullpen to be fresh to face KC! HAH

bring in Sanchez, Brad

That’s how to close a game! A great Tiger win.

Yep i was there. That is just how they needed to win drivè up Sales pitch count and hope you can get to the pen.
.
Are you guys serious are they really accusing Vmart of stealing signs?

Yes, Brad is talking about it right now. White Sox claimed someone was stealing signs. Sale, in his own dugout, put his hands up like he was looking through binoculars. Hysterical!

I just heard on the radio Avisial Garcia was the one who started the rumors about the sign stealing. That dude is a true trouble maker.

These Pale hose guys are something else. I believe we won the season series 9-8 and it was ugly at best.

Also, have to give credit to Verlander. Vintage Ver!

Chris Sale has to be the dumbest SOB on a team full of dumb SOBs. That would make him the dumbest SOB in baseball. Don’t need to watch Modern Family tonight, I’ve already had my big laughs for the day.

1. Andy Romine strikes again on offense and defense.
2. Rags is becoming a solid nine.
3. JV says there’s more to me than a pair of:

Kudos to Ian, who could hit .350 if he worked on that swing. Can you believe’s, he’s going to get 90 RIBs. Props to Julio for an up yo yo day. Also kudos to VMart for not falling into the kiddy tantrum. what a joke; just lost a lot of respect for the Lefty. We got good stuff from the bottom; kudos to the Bradster for showing some managerial acumen. No doubt, Doc is an energizer, and I love Romine’s passion. The other amazing stat is that in his worst year as a pitcher, JV still wins 15 games. No free passes for two straight. It’a now Twinkie Time. I hope we turn them into harmless cream puffs.

And the Ace is ready for the first game. He came back just on time while the others emptied the tank

About Garcia and the radio people . That is getting old. The old rumors were started by a nativist radio guy who really thinks Fielder is HoF material and Miguel not. And he blames Garcia for the shortcoming of a player that was expected to decline fast and failed badly in every postseason he played. And was backed by a guy that went to prison for fraud and gambled against the Tigers while pitching for the Tigers( he was suspended by MLB).
Garcia was traded for an injured player but DD is perfect many need to find a fault in him to justify the trade.
Now, blame him again for every problem

“Looked like Sale tipped cap to RCF first, then RF. Of course, former Victor Martinez teammate Avisail Garcia is in RF” Jason
So Garcia told him how to get Victor out? That is his job, he plays for CWS and is there to win

My reply is not directed to Jason who simply reported the fact I think was misinterpreted

Schmehl:
“Asked by a group of reporters why Sale would feel motivated to hit him with a pitch, Martinez said he was informed by former Tigers outfielder Avisail Garcia that Sale apparently believed Martinez had a person set up in center field to steal signs” Garcia did not start the rumor just explained what was happening to Victor
And this is the real reason :

“Sale vs. Victor, first base open. And Robin with an early mound meeting. Martinez is 15-for-28 lifetime against Sale”
“Sale once guessed that Martinez was “12-for-10″ lifetime against him. Indubitably (from Sale word of start collection), he has owned him”
Merkin

Lets say someone in CF is stealing signs….how does that work, anyhow? usually I hear of someone on 2nd watching the catcher lay the signs down and then relys that information to the batter by signally him (e.g. touching cap, belt buckle for 4seam or changeup, etc.).
.
But if someone in CF is stealing signs then who was relaying them to VMart at the plate? This is boggling my mind.

JV is showing something, something important. If this rotation can pitch to potential and Soria becomes he guy—who knows?
Tribe ahead 3-0 early, thank you Yan Gomes

Missed the game but thrilled to see the outcome – gotta go watch the replay of the squeeze

chi wanted vmart next year? good luck!

Indians slowly blowing the lead….of course

Hope it doesn’t come down to a one game playoff again.

Don’t want your mind permanently boggled, Evan. One old fashioned way of relaying signals from CF is to take a jacket or something and place it on the fence. Move it to the right = fastball, to the left = breaking ball, etc. Rudimentary, but it gives you the idea. The Polo Grounds clubhouse was in CF and had windows, and they’d raise and lower them.

I’m sure Vmart won’t go in the offseason to the White sox now and anywhere Balfour is.
