Labor Day lineups: Tigers at Indians

Miguel Cabrera returns to the Tigers lineup as the designated hitter. Considering he’s 15-for-28 with three home runs (I know, I know, the power’s different now) for his career off Indians starter Corey Kluber, it’s a bigger addition than usual for the Detroiters. Victor Martinez is the first baseman today. Ezequiel Carrera gets the start in center field.

The Indians, as you might have heard, got home in the wee hours of the morning after their Sunday night game in Kansas City was delayed and then suspended by rain in the 10th inning. Everybody in their starting lineup today played last night, though Lonnie Chisenhall was limited to a pinch-hit appearance and a go-ahead two-run double in the 10th.

Today’s game is on ESPN nationally once the Phillies and Braves are done, so if you’re outside of Detroit and Cleveland, you can catch it. If you’re in Michigan, you can tune in on Fox Sports Detroit as usual.

The lineup has Miggy at 1B and Victor at DH.

Well, they are back in it and playing well… so, now we will see what this team is made up of down the stretch. Tigers? Or, tiger cubs? Playoffs, or pro-am golf foursomes in Oct.? And DD gets to watch his prized call-ups for a month as he plans his roster for 2015…and we agonize over this 2014 season that had so much promise.
Go Tigers!

cleveland! the only team hotter than the tigers in the al central.

Hamels is 3rd Phillie in last 100 years to get pulled in 7th or later with a no-hitter. The others: David West 5/29/94 & Jimmy Ring 6/16/22

Stark. Captain Hook lives

This last time through rotation

David Price- 2 innings 8 runs allowed all earned
Lobstien….6 innings 2 runs 1 earned
Verlander …..7 innings 1 run
Scherzer 6.2 innings 6 runs 5 earned
Ryan…..6 innings 0 runs
Porcello 6.2 innings 6 runs 3 earned

The pitchers you’d expect to be shut down have not and the ones you don’t expect as much from have been poor. Yes the defense was dreadful yesterday but Porcello still gave up 11 hits and a walk. The big fellas just recently haven’t been the big fellas.

Time for the big fellas to do better without changing the performances of the call-ups. Maybe Price and Lobstein can handle the Indians’ lefty-leaning line-up.

Gone. MLB free game

Well Miggy Klubered that one!

So much for getting off to a good start with the pitching……and fielding.

The ball hit him in the glove, must be E

I agree possibly a ball he shoulda caught ..but it was still hit very very hard.
I have visions of the game with Sal/Scherzer in my head. Early runs off an excellent pitcher and they get back in it only for Kluber to settle down.

Dan & Jim said he should have caught it.

Can someone explain to me why Suarez wasn’t bunting?

EZ and VMart haven’t helped but I’m still waiting to be impressed by Price.

What pitcher wants to play for Detroit with such a godawful defense?

I was hoping he’d do that since Miggy can’t run very well.

3 really unearned runs.

M & M boys klubered it. Don’t stop now.

The Cleveland´s defense is worse

The line drive was a hit with Victor or Texiera. It was a hard, clean hit

He was DOA had tried to score- He had to be running on contact but hard hit and Brantley was ready

Bases loaded twice now and we can’t score a run. Casty got robbed.

His fault. It was ball but called before for Price

Good things happens with your best player in the game-

Even it that was against a tired team

I’m shocked with what Miguel has done today. I was a disbeliever and figured the best thing for him, and us, was a stint on the DL.
Castellanos won’t get a better pitch to hit with 3-2 and the bases loaded.
Yesterday and today—makes no sense whatsoever.

absolutely no reason to place someone on the DL in September

We get to watch the “kids.” Moya is up, Dan.

If Ausmus had a motivating talk with the boys yesterday after that fiasco of a game, the timing was right and more than overdue to “light a fire under their behinds” to make the final push for the division title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs!!! Several of these guys make $100MM+ over their careers and the season is long at 162 games + playoffs but you have to be ready and sharp when the time comes to be aggressive and take the title!! Mr. Illitch and his “puppet” DD have tried to spend $$$ where needed but now we need to see the ROI on Nathan, Soria, Price and others.

Couldn’t see the game but did “watch” on Gameday. Was it The Who who said the kids are all right ?
Will have to watch this one tomorrow.

is it safe to say the offense is back? where is KC’s offense? I’ll be watching them later. Seen an interesting picture of JV on the internet today😉

Very good game. Let’s keep rolling. Support Lobstein with good offense and defense.Holding breath. Is Miggy back?

Huge win after the game on the south side yesterday . Offense came alive lets hope we are back on track . Go Tigers…..

1. Only 16 Cleveland outs made the infield or past.
2. Call up guys wanted in on the action.
3. We finally got to an Ace.
Great win! Kudos to the three M&M’s; if they hit anywhere close to that, we get some breathing room. Miggy was long due, and had a great plate day. Give him a couple of more games at DH to stabilize the ankle. Glad we scored 12 runs, because AJax is no longer cruising in center field, and it’s showing. Rookie 1 also had a good bat day, along with Double A. Hunter missed the hit parade for starters, but mad a couple of decent catches in right. I’ve run out of words for Victor. Word is the W. Sox want him bad; we want him badder. Price had a nice solid game, especially in light of the debacle last week. He’s awfully consistent. You know what you have. Hope JV shows up Wensday with his pants on. Like Kathy, and others, I believe he has the “Emily” curse firmly around his neck. None of my business on how he lives his personal life, but I would try my best not to embarrass an organization paying me 20 M plus for the next several years. Need three of four from the Tribe.

To be fair, I don’t think it was Justin’s idea to post that picture on the internet.

Picture? Try over 100.

Apologies, I’m not following it that closely. I just know that the cloud was hacked and private photos were released.

It’s supposed to be private, but for years these photos and films have been leaked over and over again. Now the FBI is talking about celebrity laws. Meanwhile, teens can go to prison for texting same images. OK, I’m done talking about it. Too private.

A british woman has been trying to force a porn revenge page from posting her images but the authorities said the webpage was shielded by freedom of expression. But now the FBI is investigating this problem with celebs like it was National Security issue
Every week , photos of celebrities are hacked and leaked into the internet.
SI inadvertently published an Upton ´s photo fully naked, with body paint but they forgot to photoshop it, for her birthday. It was removed a day later and the incident was forgotten.
But for some reason, JLaw´s photos have caused this unusual outrage.
The security of a company failed, they are talking about phishing now, that is blaming the victims, but the company responsibility is overlooked like the fact that even governments have information in the cloud.
The teen´s situation is even more preposterous.

a friend forwarded me a picture that had JV’s big white backside in it. it’s not a big deal – but i sure did laugh out loud. nearly dropped my fishing pole.

A lot of teams will want VMart bad, the Tigers will need to pay big time for him. He is more critical than Scherzer for 2015.

I was wondering if one, two, or all three of the early homers would have gone out of Comerica. A team has to be able to hit homers. Bring those fences in. 20 hits but most of the runs came on homers.
I won’t gloat about wanting to keep Miggy in the lineup whenever possible. Oops, I just did. 🙂

Agreed, but even “Stars” have lost their privacy in this expanded world of Social Media. Just looking for level headedness and common sense in those who represent the Old English D.

Tigers to recall Buck Farmer on Tuesday. Iott twitted

Don’t see how he will help much. He was hammered the last two times he pitched. I would rather see Mercedes or Krol instead. Farmer is just not ready. He was in West Michigan for crying out loud in June.

Those three weeks I recommended for Miguel to rest sure flew by. The rest worked just as I predicted Rich:-) OK, so he can DH.

Did you hear them say that the people in KC changed the lyrics of “Don’t Stop Believing” to “born and raised to BEAT Detroit”? I like that.
Royals finished their win tonight juuuust as the rain began.

I doubt if Texas will be any help. Just look how they have fallen apart.
The Tigers are going to have to take care of the division race on their own. Cleveland does have the Astros and Rays to play yet and a make-up game with the Angels. KC still has the Yankees and Red Sox to play. I hope some of those teams make a difference.

Tigers have a lot of games vs the AL Central, if they paly well they are in. If they don’t, they will not, pretty simple. I am excited to see it, I think the Tigers can catch a little fire.

team rarely runs on all cylinders…but right now the offense and bullpen are running hot and the starters /defense is inconsistent…which is better than being bad. I still think that plan is to get miggy lots of rest. CLE’s bullpen got taxed yesterday a bit so look for some late runs tonight.

Which hitters hit the ball hard most often? Top 50 leaderboard includes Mesoraco, Vogt, Duda, Torii Hunter & more

3, 9 and 15
BTW: 16th could be available, I watched him here, I havent seen that kind of raw power since Deer and Cecil Fielder

Lobstein is a guy worth rooting for in my book. Saw him do a pitching clinic with the kids at Tigerfest this past offseason. Thought he did a great job showing them the basics and patiently answering their questions, at their level.

Tigers PR ‏@DetroitTigersPR now
Lineup at CLE: Kinsler 4, Hunter 9, Cabrera DH, V. Martinez 3, J. Martinez 7, Castellanos 5, Avila 2, Suarez 6, Davis 8. Lobstein starting.
