Saturday (Game 2) lineups: Tigers at Twins

Futures Game 026

Trevor May has made three Major League appearances, two of them starts. He has allowed 10 runs, nine earned, on 13 hits over nine total innings with 13 walks and three strikeouts. In theory, it would take a lot of Twins hitting off Justin Verlander to put the Tigers out of this one. The way this weekend has gone for them, though, nothing is assured. And May did pitch eight shutout innings against Toledo in May.

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Torii Hunter, RF
  3. Miguel Cabrera, DH
  4. Victor Martinez, 1B
  5. J.D. Martinez, LF
  6. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  7. Bryan Holaday, C
  8. Eugenio Suarez, SS
  9. Rajai Davis, CF

P: Justin Verlander

TWINS (career numbers off Verlander)

  1. Danny Santana, CF (1-for-3)
  2. Brian Dozier, 2B (3-for-11, double, 2 walks, 3 K’s)
  3. Joe Mauer, 1B (23-for-62, 4 doubles, 3 HR, 12 walks, 10 K’s)
  4. Kennys Vargas, DH
  5. Oswaldo Arcia, RF (0-for-2, walk)
  6. Trevor Plouffe, 3B (4-for-28, double, 8 K’s)
  7. Kurt Suzuki, C (8-for-30, 2 doubles, walk, 3 K’s)
  8. Eduardo Escobar, SS (2-for-8, K)
  9. Jordan Schafer, LF

P: Trevor May

Come on now! The Twins pitcher has an 8.10 ERA?

Cant hit RHP

Victor bailed out Kinsler

His speed is there.

Never give the third out at third

Poor miggy. …doesn’t like to dh…awe

Fister gave four runs because:

18 runs in 3 games. It was the A pitchers and the bullpen ,not the offense

With runners on,he tries to put the ball in play.Sometimes it works, sometimes not

The later he becomes a DH, the better.Nobody wants a 30 MM DH. His defense has been great at 1B. DH is well far in time

Never easy

Tigers Win….bearly
Verlander wins one.”Nathan Detroit” gets the save.

A necessary win. Now we can get back to the top 3 of the rotation and maybe push that 5th starter slot back a few days. I’d like to be within one game of KC before they visit Detroit on September 8. They’ve never been through a September in contention and that may work to our advantage. Maybe.
It appears to me that Soria upon his return will have to be the closer. Nathan’s inability to pitch clean innings and keep his pitch count down won’t do going forward. What they do with Joe will be a good question.

ElTigre, it looks to me like Cabrera is unable to pull his hands in and drive the ball like he used to, perhaps because he can’t turn on the pitch. He’s reaching for everything. What do you see?

If you get to see the games, that is.

Local TV had two games this week, Currently I m traveling and were Im staying I have ESPN in LA has a weeckly poll to chsoe a agame and the Tigers won twice in the last 3 I have been watching a lot of games .
I see him struggling mostly against LHP. My guess, stil in the recovering process.
Last night,he did was he has stated tries to do with runners on, put the ball in play-Not hard enough the first two times

Interesting that Joe Maddon has protested a game over interpretation of the timeliness guideline for review. I thought the Tigers should have done the same in Anaheim. It’s a rules interpretation.

Beck and Stark had a interchange about that in twitter

Game 1: More Sausage making; What comes out is no better looking than what went in.
Game 2:
1. Needed and grinding performance by JV. Arm looks okay, whatever that means now.
2. Rookie 1’s right field single was one of the best AB’s by any Tiger in a while.
3. Joba means 8th. inning. Leave him there. It must be his comfort object.
8 runs with limited contribution by Miggy is big. I think we’ll have to limp our way through this year, and look for his best sesaon ever next year. still have seen nothing positive from Rags in quite a while. If we split this series, maybe we can still bring home the sausage, er, bacon.

It is a much needed win in the second game .Maybe they can figure out how to get the W tomorrow, Go get them Max…….
