Monday’s lineups: Tigers at Pirates

Sorry to be late on this. As expected, Miguel Cabrera gets the start at third base, with Victor Martinez at first. Cabrera is the only current Tiger who faced Jeff Locke in his previous meeting with Detroit last May.

Justin Verlander, meanwhile, faces a Pirates lineup without Andrew McCutchen (who was placed on the DL) and Neil Walker, who might not be far behind.

  1. Rajai Davis, CF
  2. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B (2-for-3, 2 doubles off Jeff Locke)
  4. Victor Martinez, 1B
  5. Torii Hunter, RF
  6. J.D. Martinez, LF (0-for-5, 3 K’s vs. Locke)
  7. Alex Avila, C
  8. Eugenio Suarez, SS
  9. Justin Verlander, P

  1. Josh Harrison, 3B (1-for-8)
  2. Gregory Polanco, RF
  3. Russell Martin, C (6-for-19, HR, 2 walks, 6 K’s)

Well this sure is shaping up to be a disaster. JV’s big chance to pick the team up and become da man of the hour. Really thought he could step up to the occasion. Well, not worth wasting any more time on this.

Beck
Ausmus said he has starters mapped out for next few games, but still needs to tell pitchers. So Wednesday’s starter remains TBD for now.
Scherzer ,with three days of rest?

Scherzer wouldn’t risk failing and jeopardizing his contract. He’s about Max and nothing else.

Verlander injured?

Way to go……

I simply don’t know if I can take it. Might bail on this tonight. Try again tomorrow.

Maybe we should try a pitcher not named “Justin”. Miller is no better this time around either. At some point, there needs to be some pride.

The Tigers are a mess, from DD to BA and all the way through the team.

One thing is sure, Ausmus lost the team If he ever had it

Been posting on the wrong thread. I need to vent so I am going to repost here. My apologies.

I don’t even get upset anymore. Angry sure but I expect this team to fall apart at this time. I also expect to see some dissension rear its ugly head (publicly) soon.
Oh-oh Harrison up. Look out for the hight and tighty.

Bad baseball, lousy fielding, no hitting, poor base-running, crappy coaching/managing. This team is imploding.
Who’s calling the shots in that dugout? The players themselves?

Miller is gonna be burnt out after this inning. Why would you throw him long? Oh I guess I know why.
This one is over, you can’t logically expect anything else, as I speak Avila makes us look like amateurs again.

Time to get Miggy & Victor & maybe even Kinsler out before some bizarre injury occurs. And this is just the time something like that would happen. At least you give them a rest when there is no upside to play them.

Anybody hear any reports on Price today? I wonder if there was any after-effect of that line drive yesterday.

Well Dan you covered what a mess the 2014 Tigers are in . It all starts at the top things needed to be changed 2 months ago and were not. I also wonder about Ausmus and his high paid coaching staff . Who made some of the foolish decisions in the dugout ?? Somehow things have to change and sooner than later.

This is one of the low points in my 55 years as a Tiger fan.

Over & Out

Try 60 years. And now with a team that had so many expectations.

JV 40 pitches, one inning. Next scheduled start Saturday? Can he pitch sooner after such a short outing? I’m not really sure I want him, but……….

How many games has Miggy started at 3B this year?

7 with last night game. All the games in the NL parks

I thought I’d put in my two cents….There is no HEART on this team….just finished watching KC beat the A’s)(There is heart in both those teams) Dombrowsi has killed
this team…him and his Cy Young winners…..They have nothing to compare with
Jackson or Drew Smyly, which they gave away and they will probably come back
to haunt this team in the future. I’m losing my respect for Dombrowski and the
whole bunch of them.including Ausmus… I’ve been a fan for 69 years..Stop already with buying a winner! We could have won this thing, if we were more patient.with the players
we had….Rdavis is no Jackson…Although I was critical of Ajackson at times,
He was just starting to hit for this team and he’s gone…He was much more graceful
in the outfield than Davis. Drew Smyly, gone… what was Dombrowski thinking?
What a waste!
