Stephen Moya held out Erie’s games yesterday and today. Can’t find any info on that though.

He was selected for the Future ASG

” batting fifth and playing LF for World team in Futures Game today”.

Tigers are having an ‘old friend’ for lunch today

Just got home. 2-0. JV with a good game.Low pitch count. Looks like a re-run of last 2 games. Hope it turns out as well.

The KC batter with the lowest BA of .122 has the only hit? OOPS. Spoke too soon. Hit #2. (OOPS courtesy of Texas Governor Perry)

Looks like Verlander falling apart here in the 7th … Mostakas batting 189 couldn’t get him out…ibanez batting 150 whacked it. Bases loaded nobody out. Oh well. Where did Justin go?

That durn Billy Butler.
I don’t see Krol doing anything good here.

This is where we see if the AlAl we’ve seen this year so far is the “real” AlAl. He has been pretty stingy with the walks this year but it is something that is always on the back of our minds. Then there is Omar to deal with. This is pretty high drama.

yipes, has another starter been left in the game too long?

Here comes Phil.

4 runs for Verlander what looked to be a good outing turned out to be another kinda bad one. Always seems to have that one inning.

Those 2 runs by Tiger batters haven’t held up for this game like it did for the last 2 games.

Rats. Didn’t get the breaks we had been getting there in that inning.

Verlander wasn’t left in too long he had a low 80’s pitch count to start the inning. Left with 96. He’s just not that good anymore. He’s probably a 5th starter. He’s not even good enough to be in some rotations. Seriously. He’s just not good.

The fans will catch on before long . JV is not the ace the staff once had . Alot of folks just will not admit we are seeing his decline on the mound .

And to top it off, the BP has crashed.

Yes Phil- the ball is in the air.

3-4 runs in not insurmountable but they’ll have to hit like they did in the first game. Miggy will be the key in this inning. He seems plum worn out.

I don’t know what but there is something going on with Miggy. And JD already had 3 hits so you can’t expect much more. In fact, the way JD has been hitting, where would the Tigers be without him? I just hope he isn’t a temporary phenom. It was going to be tough to sweep KC 4 games but I think any of us will gladly take the 3.

Ya it’s not the loss….I just am as usual annoyed with Verlander. He just can seem to avoid the big inning. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again he’s an average pitcher who had a couple of fantastic years but that’s it. The bad part is that DD jumped the gun on his big contract and unless he can figure out how to become a different pitcher and at least be average it’s going to be a long 6 years with a guy who is well below average pitcher at this point.

JD and AJ are not going to like the break. Miggy and Casty will. Castellanos is just not having good at bats at all. 3 out of 4 is just fine

Miguel ,9 SF leading AL. 75 RBI leading the AL. 34 2B leading the AL. avg 307 9th ,OPS 881. 10th. Coming back from surgery
Last 14 days , not counting today:
289 .396 .579 .975

Robby Ray pitching for Toledo tonight.

He is expected to pitch for the Tigers next Saturday. No need to move anyone, DH allows them to have 26 roster.

The series was one game too long. The breaks turned in KC’s favor in the 7th. I must say, difficult to see the Royals winning 90+ games unless they pull off a big trade.
Here at the break, the Tigers have a better W-L record than I had anticipated, and I think most or all of that is due to JD Martinez. He wasn’t even on the radar. Remarkable that the team played that well without Victor.

1. Ajax continues his steady rise at the leadoff.
2. Julio doesn’t stop his rise.
3. Had the lead again; just couldn’t find any magic for JV.
Kudos to Rags for three hits. Miggy needs a break; no magic in his bat either.
We get to pay JV a lot of money over the next few years. Hope he can redeem himself. We have 8 games in the lost column on KC. When Victor returns, think of that 2-6 lineup. Julio might be the steal of this decade. I know he will cool off, but he has the tools for an every day player. Decisions!

If Miggy needs a break maybe he should get the rest he needs . Nothing says he is needed to be in the All-Star game . The Tigers pay his huge salary that should be his #1 priority .

JV continues to fool nobody the 3rd time through the batting order. He has become an average pitcher this year after 5-6 innings. All was fine through 22 batters and 85+ pitches. Its sad to score 16 runs in the 1st game and barely scratch out 2-5-2 runs the next 3 games. Miggy was non existent and there may be some injuries to worry about with him and VMart after the A/S break.

first game i missed on the year. out in colorado (steamboat springs) giving a talk. caught the world cup game. glad to be out in CO for the ASB —- be home to listen to games with the fam (including extended (padres, giants and rays fans)) soon. that’s what it’s all about for me.

As much as I proclaim to loathe the ASG, my TV will be tuned in.
