Tuesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Dodgers

Still no Victor Martinez today, so J.D. Martinez gets another day at DH. With the day game tomorrow, it could be Kansas City before Victor Martinez gets in a game, though they could also simply decide to sit him until the break.

The Dodgers take advantage of the DH spot to get Hanley Ramirez out of the field. In past Interleague series, the Dodgers have rotated players at DH, including Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp. Venezuelan Miguel Rojas gets the start at shortstop.

Reminder for those of you outside of Michigan that tonight’s game is on MLB Network, continuing a stretch where the Tigers have been on national television for several days.

Why not DH Hunter and play JD?
AJ leading off? Whoopee!
VMart not being put on the DL? Almost stupid.
Verlander needs to reinspire Tiger fans. If our rotation slips–the rest of the team cannot compensate. Simple as that.
DD needs to complete the job he neglected in the off season. Granted who would have figured Nathan would $hit the bed? But to predicate his decisions on Rondon was pretty dense (two years in a row on that one).
Get Soria or Benoit.

WS preview.
Since we are talking trade targets: Daniel Murphy and Burke Badenshop

Verlander FIP: 4.02 Porcello FIP: 3.94. Defense makes a huge difference

Jackson Babip 302. LD % 29 , career high.Just hitting to the wrong spot

Nice to see he has a fan. Things change and sometimes they don’t. I don’t expect any change for AJ. We’re looking at a .250 hitter with no power or effective base-speed, no arm and no desire to play “beyond the limits”. Contract is coming up.
Seems like a no-brainer to me if anyone wants him.

Would the Rockies take Miguel for Tulo and Cargo?

Tulo:
At Coors Field 323 .398 .563 .961.
At normal altitude:275.349.470.820

Initial thoughts about JV tonight: He’s gonna get thrashed with that 92 MPH straight fastball.

Another awesome Verlander start! Ya you’re an ace

Oh yeah- here we go. Down 2-0 in the 1st, seems like our starters are struggling once again.

so whats verlanders excuse tonite

Again, his FIP shows that he has pitched better than this looks right now

Prince Fielder’s nickname should be “Marvel”, as in comic book.
What a bummer. Our Tigers are letting us down and runining otherwise nice days.
I can’t imagine being a season ticket holder and waiting all day to go to the park and watch them play as poorly as any team in baseball.

Hunter misplayed it and Avila could try harder

Tulo is also a gold glover.

I bet we go 3 up and 3 down in our half of the 1st.

Calling these guys a ball team right now is a contradiction in terms. They are bloody dreadful and look like they only mildly interested.

We were supposed to go down to the game spouse got home really late so decided not to go ….really really really gl7

don’t count these boys out yet

AJ got jobbed on that 3rd strike call.

Compensation for the two bad calls against Ryu that took him out of the game

Who woulda thunk.

Tie game. Now what does JV do???

an ace settles in. then the next inning we start it off with an extra base hit.

I knew this series with LA was going to be tough. IF, I say IF that was JV’s bad inning and the Tigers can keep hitting Ryu, MAYBE, just MAYBE. JV is already up to 50 pitches in 3 innings. To go 7 he needs to cut that pitch count down. The BP will be on the spot again.

Darn. They took Ryu out.

i noticed the batters were running to the box

I double-checked. In that 5-run 2nd inning, no Tiger scored from 2nd base on any hit. Sharp hits? Good arms in LA outfield? Slow Tigers runners? Even Davis? Anyone with an explanation? Could they have scored more that inning? Now, now, illinoisfan, don’t look that gift horse in the mouth?

Great arms in the OF, especially Puig

A keeping the rally alive

retired 10 in a row now. this is what good teams do!

I’d like to see us wear out this pen faster then prince’s welcome in detroit

If they didn’t care, would they have scored 7 runs?

Ha, that was running

I’m loving this game – are you kidding me – this is good ass baseball!

(groan) Kinsler DP. Miggy comes up with no one on base. Guess I shouldn’t get greedy.

Guess who’s sorry they didn’t go down now? But when the score was 5-0 and we didn’t score in the first seemed like a good idea? Oh well.

that’s baseball gk!

Yep……

12 5 huh? hehe this is my kinda tigers baseball!

Hold them with some good pitching. Save some runs for tomorrow. Going to need them vs Greinke.

Tigers and Dodgers are very well-matched up teams, and both do much better on the road then at home.

This team sure did pick up their pitcher. Never will doubt my Tigers again.

Very impressive. Hitters did their jobs well. JV, to his credit, did not give up.
A win is a win but this is an important one in the way it was constructed.

A good win to get since Kansas City lost . Dodgers have been playing good ball . Maybe after this game JV gets back on track . Lets hope so.

So I turned it off in disgust after that five run first inning. How much did we lose by?
No, that was quite a game; there’s no explaining baseball. Everything the Tigers hit dropped. Did anyone ever figure out where the heck the strike zone was? The Aussies call it an invisible box that floats in the air, so there must have been a lot of wind tonight.
I had the “pleasure” of calling Uribe’s homer. Easy one to predict, that guy always does that in Detroit.
Good win, as you never know with Greinke tomorrow.

Turn around started after the Uribe bat flip in the 1st. He shouldn’t had a done that.

1. JV had a quality start. I hate the stat we currently use. All I know is that he settled down and pitched well for the rest of the game. Two hits after the first.
2. Five of nine starters have 3 hits.
3. Dodgers scored five in the first, and ended up with five at the end.
Kudos to everybody. Get two off of Greinke tomorrow and we win.

I am real pleased we have a Rick Porcello on our club, and the year he has had thus far, but it would be a travesty if he made the ASG ahead of Chris Sale.
