Thursday’s lineups: Tigers (now with V-Mart) vs. Rays

It took a round or two of batting practice to finalize, but Victor Martinez is back in the Tigers starting lineup after missing the past three games with soreness in his left side. He takes his usual spot at DH and cleanup. Instead of a day off for J.D. Martinez, who had been slated for a day off before Victor Martinez was hurt, Rajai Davis is the odd man out Thursday against lefty Erik Bedard, whom Davis does not hit well.

How does that pitch to Joyce not get called a strike. …how can an umpire miss that?

Holy cow what a start!

good ole ambush.

Casty didn’t look ready to hit his 3rd AB No batting gloves? 1st time I noticed that

Something was weird about that whole thing. .wonder if he’s not feeling well

I seem to recall Nick not wearing gloves in the past. I thought it was a sudden nature call. Call him Quick Nick?

That’s a I thought. …

Wow! On a good roll.

Nice game!!

Don’t get many as good as that. I would like to see this kind of strike zone called by Phil Cuzzi every night. Make ’em swing their bats by calling the full zone.
Fun game to watch and I assume to attend. Tonight was a nice break.

hell yeah fellas – listened to the game with no anxiety tonight. great game – looks like Vmart is doing OK.

1. Top 8 in the lineup all have at least one hit.
2. The Leading RBI guy on the team scores 4 runs.
3. Smith has a good clean inning for the ninth. No walks, hit batters, or other such garbage.

Kudos to the team; even Suarez was good on defense. Max was being Max tonight; again, no nonsense, give me the ball, throw the ball, get the outs. Three homers in the bottom of the first inning at home had to deflate the Rays. Team is playing extremely well right now, with the rotation being the key. Drew has to be able to go more than five tomorrow night before reaching 100 pitches. It’s time agsin for him to turn in a gem. Proud to be a Tiger fan tonight, and for the last 55 years. We need to bring home the bacon for Pizza Pizza Man. Other than his money, I do admire the hair.

I agree El Tigre. I am surprised it has taken this long for an issue to arise in a “continuation” play. You can see the ump make the safe call at first (no tag), so the A’s played the rest of the play as though it was still force at home. Weird stuff, indeed. Fortunately, it didn’t cost anyone the game. But imagine that happening in Game 7 of the playoffs in the 9th inning. Yikes.

Well played game . Max was spot on and kept the pitch count down….Offense came out strong in the first inning . No complaints from me.

Geez, what a streaky team we have. They play like this in the fall and we win, but it is a long season but sure if sure is fun to watch when they are on a roll like this

t’would be nice to “turn them on” starting late september…..

Lineup vs. TB: Jackson 8, Kinsler 4, Cabrera 3, V. Martinez DH, J. Martinez 7, Hunter 9, Kelly 5, Avila 2, Suarez 6. Smyly comienza.

Smyly starts, sorry.
