Thursday’s lineups: Tigers at Rangers

In Game 2 of the Tigers outfield rotation, it’s Rajai Davis’ turn to sit. It’s not so much based on matchups against Nick Martinez (there aren’t many), more based on J.D. Martinez being a must-play, Torii Hunter just back and Austin Jackson having sat yesterday.

  7. Austin Jackson, CF (1-for-3)

Omar Vizquel was interviewed by a venezuelan radio journalist. The most interesting bit: he is an art collector . His collection includes kinetic art by Jesús Soto one of most renowned venezuelan artist( you can see his work at the MOMA) . His hobbies. photography, painting and music.
He mentioned he is a coach full time so he wont be managing in Venezuela soon.
And also recounted that he has been playing baseball since he was 8 years old. And was signed first in the USA and then in Venezuela

An artist, both on and off the field.

Carlos Guillen was named ,some months ago ,President of Tigres de Aragua, Miguel Cabrera ´s team in Venezuela

That’s good info, El Tigre, thanks for that.

You are welcome

Funny how all of a sudden this lineup looks good although there are really no changes.
Did anyone see if Torii Hunter failed to back up the play as quickly as he should on the throw from home to first last night? The one with the WP/PB. No big deal; I was just curious if I saw it correctly. We were taught as outfielders to move towards the infield on most plays involving a throw.

Stark:
“#Phillies have lots of teams watching them this week (e.g., Det, Tor, Pitt, Angels). Telling clubs this week could determine buy/sell stance”
The rumor mill is working again

I saw that as well Rich. He was late backing up, which clearly allowed the runner to take 3rd.

Have enjoyed the interviews with Pudge and the trip down memory lane with Magglio, Carlos, Pudge and C-Mo. I loved that ’06 team!!

After so many bad years the ’06 team gave us someting to be positive about . Fans that had not followed the club in years showed up at the ball park .

Seems when Casty pulls the ball he gets hits

Kindler/Suarez just pulled off one the sweetest DPs I have seen our Tigers make this year

does the JD stand for Just Dangerous? The past 30 calendar days he is only an RBI or two away from LEADING THE TEAM. VMart of course is leading.

Critical inning fro RP (the 6th).
Hate tos a few hits strung together after his effort thus far.

oh boy-just what I was afraid of.
Get somebody warmed up fast

meanwhile Ricky continues to be dominant in the 7th😉

I for one am glad we didnt overpay for the Mr. sin shoe choo – tonight he made me feel like Torii was a golden glover.

Miggy is putting me in a tough situation. One of my pet peeves is baseball players that don’t button up their jersey. I don’t recall that look on him. Not sure why that bothers me but it does. Nothing like Napoli at least. He hit that last one a ton.

I hate that and noticed that Miggys been doing it. What I hate even more are the tarred up helmets. It’s gross and I gotta tell ya I wouldn’t like it if I were an owner if players were covering up my logo with a bunch of gunky tar. Glad the Tigers don’t do that.

Victor has tar on his uni. I don’t care.

Rick on his game tonight! Won’t be able to watch tomorrow night go Tigers

Yep. Ricky has done a great job

Ricky was spot on. Well the team played great . Whats up with Choo and his defense ??

Wonderful job. Casty tries to go to the alley in right and he flies out every time.
He pulls the ball–he hits the ball more on a line.
Duh!

Let RP stay Brad. Give him a shot at it.
He’s certainly deserved it.
Let him stay unless two men get on.

can we still call him “the kid” anymore? he’s dominating out there now. 16 GBs, 6Ks…..gosh what a rhythm!

JD gets a sac fly too. We look like a million bucks out there!

Congratulations, Rick. A CG is something we just don’t see enough of. Our BP got to take a night off.

Back in 1967, White Sox pitching coach Marv Grissom said he’d buy a “suit of clothes” (what the oldtimers called a men’s suit) for any pitcher that recorded 20 groundball outs in a game. This was a big deal in those days of lower salaries and Joe Horlen accomplished the feat. By my count, Porcello did the same tonight. Take his measurements.
This is the Porcello I foresaw in spring training 2008. This is so cool.
Props to Scott Baker for cleaning up and speeding up the game. If you recall, he started Game 163 for the Twins.

1. Three big DP’s from the Middle; breaks their back every time.
2. Miggynormal is emerging; my what a hitting machine.
3. Have been a Ricky P supporter all the way; never wavered while others wanted him traded away. He won’t be 26 until December. Way to set the tone RP.

Kudos to the above Miggy, Ricky, and Ian. Ajax got a nice hit to drive in two. Even without a hit, Julio makes a contribution. Hunter’s defense is getting progressively worse each game. He still is valuable in the right situations. Kudos also to VMart and Rookie 1, even though he gets carried away with that first pitch. Second sweep in a row. Perhaps JV can learn a thing or two from the old kid on the block. Is a three sweeper in the cards. Jv will let us know tomorrow evening. Again, congrats to the best 4 around. 16 wins would be solid this year; he might even top that. I love it when a plan comes together.
