Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers at Indians

Cleveland 002

Rainy morning in Cleveland, but it looks like the skies are clearing for the afternoon. There’s a chance for some scattered storms, but for the most part, it should be a good day for a getaway game ahead of a day game back home.

Go get ’em guys……..
Detroit police department asking for charges to be filed against Evan Reed. Now it’s in the prosecutors hands.

What did Leyland say your only as good as your next days starting pitcher? Well they’ve been horrible the last few days need something better out of Max today.

Jackson is hitting about 100 points higher batting 5th as apposed to 6th.

Well, we needed that!

The boys are just as irritated as we are about the game last night, so they are taking it out on the Indians early – good for them!

OK – I have now paid for an in-game comment – I rarely do and now won’t the rest of the season – the lead was not safe apparently

Really good start. Max needs to do his part

Seriously…….someone catch the ball….ridiculous.

Guess we aren’t going to get great starting pitching by Max either…..he’s not fooling anyone either. And again they can’t catch a pop up

There’s been 2 errors.

Guess not one of our starters can do their job…

They are tattooing the ball….Max is throwing lollipops up there. He’s just as much to blame.

Shocking Max Brantly clobbered a ball right down the middle to tie the score……

Can we please end the discussion about Danny Worth being a viable option at SS.

It’s like they know what pitch is coming the last couple days. Hmmmm….

Yes Worth made a mistake but he had the sun in his eyes. Mr I’m too good to take a measly 144 million is throwing cookies up there. He’s not fooling anyone they are knocking the ball all around not dribblers not getting lucky he is tossing cookies up there.

Worth did it twice.. Max is probably ticked off big time. Not that that’s and excuse, but you know a pitcher who expects a 200 million dollar contract expects a decent SS behind him.

Don forget about Kinsler on the first one

Sorry that inning was 98% on scherzer . He gave up 3 doubles 4 hard hit singles and s walk. A double in the previous inning and now a homer. Sorry its on him

Sorry I’m ticked but I still think a lot of this is on Max….a good pitcher gets out of that with minimal damage. ..he just made things worse on himself.

On a good note Vmart is still raking

Top of six. Score 7-Up. Let’s get a 7-2 road trip!!! Go Max and Go Tigers!!!!

Ya know you even with a loss today it was a heck of a road trip but the last 2 days really 3 ( although Smyly able to limit the damage) pretty disturbing don’t ya think?

It wasn’t very smart of Miguel

The dangerous Carrasco and his nearly 6 era too much for Tigers.

On deadspin there is a section called Know Your Umpire. Timmons has a 50% higher ejection rate than the average umpire.

So Max has outlasted four Indian pitchers?? How is he Doing??

Like Justin yesterday terrible early ….ok late. But unfortunately neither could help themselves out early enough

They may have patted themselves on the back too much after Sunday’s sweep of the Red Sox. they need to come back down to earth and face reality here, the Indians stink and they are taking it to the Tigers Starters!

Not too proud to take a gift run

Is the other Martinez starting to come around maybe?
They just might bail scherzer out

Jeez… many of those down in the wheelhouse of the left handed hitters are the tigers pitchers going to throw these lefties? Tigers pitchers are killing me.

And now Nathan blows the save. Brantley and Murphy have been pains for the Tigers for a long time. But this is ridiculous.

Tigers need a plan B if they are to get to the post season . To lose three games to the Tribe is shameful . It is not Coke and Al A either . Todays game should have been a win !!!

Rod Allen said it best–he found their “Happy Zone”—why he didn’t throw anything high and hard I’ll never know.
Nathan also fell asleep on Brantley’s steal.

11 hits 9 walks…..12 lob and 3-12 with risp

Oh Ian Krol…….not you too

Nearly 5 hours and this game not over yet

#13 in the thirteenth for a big round of curley fries!!!!

That was a really good idea leaving Coke in…played with fire and lost

Why does Phil Coke still have a job?

They need some arms tomorrow. An early exit for Ray and doom.
A LH loaded lineup was Coke golden chance

Except they most batted righty. Managers should never have left him in there. Not that I think Albaquerque is any great shakes but Phil had one decent inning and in my opinion they could of got him out of there to leave a good taste in his mouth but know Ausmus and his minions play with fire and lost.

2 switch hitters plus the PH.

5 righties 4 lefties. Doesn’t matter we shouldn’t have been there. Thing of it is, is that the pitching sucked early and late. Defense lapsed early and it was a mess from the beginning.

Bad pitching all day long it just ended with Phil and Al. Scherzer sucked, Nathan sucked Coke good for one bad in the second Krol and Albaquerque sucked. Chamberlien and Krol are the only two who managed to do their jobs. ^}%{>~€|>{€|*|*]+{€~>~>|£{¥]¥{€~??}~*{£]£]!~?~£]*]€|>|>{@&!??.’

One UGLY series!! The zubaz curse is starting to feel/look real. Everything stunk from a pitching perspective, except an inning here and there. To lose to the worst team in your division hurts.

Can’t win them all, but these games were brutal to watch. Maybe tomorrow they can turn the page. Maybe!!

They better call some fresh arm for tomorrow. Al has options. Worth wont be claimed if DFA. Perez could backup for 10 days

They do need some arms

They are losing important games in the 8th, 9th and EI. Reminiscent of ’13.

2-3 in xtras but before today:
“We go to the 9th with the Tigers (somehow) leading 9-7. Detroit is 24-0 when leading after eight innings, compared to 1-14 when trailing.” Tigers gameday

Funny since 2011 and Nathan was out one year but…….

Nathan 68-77 in saves for 88%
Valverde 95-104 in saves for 94% Jose was also 7-7 in minors but I didn’t count that

Hope Joe is better next 4 months he’s already about reached his limit in what acceptable for blown saves in a season. Others run out if town and booed mercilessly for that.

I know this doesn’t all fall on Coke, but he really needs to go. I’ll bet 95% of the fans, maybe more want him gone. At some point management has to listen to the fans and cut him. Once he enters the game, it’s not a question of when will he give up a run, the question is, how many will Ausmus allow him to give up.

Ya I know….but I think they played it wrong today leaving him in for the 2nd inning. Miguel didn’t need to get himself kicked out that hurt, Scherzer, Nathan, Coke and Al were pitiful…..but I just don’t think it’s right to lay it all on the shoulders of Phil and he will be scapegoated here when if Scherzer and Nathan did their jobs we are happy instead of having headaches right now….the two high priced pitchers blew it much earlier.
And to top it off we have Darvish tomorrow.
Just watched the post game and Nathan didn’t even speak to his failure and I’m sure he was probably asked.

A real hard game to watch . So very many mistakes made by the Tigers . They need to think over the mistakes made and do better . Things will not be any easier whe they get to Oakland . Pitching again real bad .

1. Alex
2. Victor
3. KroJoba
Really bad baseball. And that’s all I have to say about that.

I hope that this series works like a major wake-up call. They sweep Baltimore and Boston in their respective yards and then waltz into Cleveland probably cocky as hell in their Tiger striped pajamas and get their teeth kicked in. They should be completely embarrassed about these last three days.

I hope Miggy and Victor get a fire lit under them such that they pick this team up on their shoulders and carry them into a four game sweep of the Rangers!!

With them on fire and decent pitching, we can get this train back on it’s tracks. Tomorrow will be a major character test for this squad!!

Major test indeed as we have a rookie on the mound in Robbie Ray and unlike our opponents (with their CY-like Starters) we cannot expect CY Ray to shutdown the Rangers can we? We need fresh BP arms for this weekend series. I am dissappointed in JV this season. Lost velocity and still heavy-ego pitching instead of smart pitching has me wondering about his future successes.

Hopefully Evan Reed doesn’t have to part ways with the team – last thing this bullpen needs. Joba, Krol, Sanchez and Porcello all had a good week pitching. Vmart and Cabby are eatin’ up pitches like we need them too, and Alex and JD are smoking hot. I’m confident Jackson will come around sooner rather than later.
Texas bring it on.

It’s just the normal ups and downs of a baseball season. The Tigers came in overachieving and Cleveland came in underachieving. These things balance out.

Yes that’s true Rich and thanks for the reminder but this Dr. Jekyl / Mr. Hyde type of play at times is just so frustrating. The hard part is when they lose the two games the way they did coming back in the top of the 9th both times only to lose the lead both times. That is incredibly frustrating.

I guess we just grin and bear it when it comes to the obvious. Coke can’t be relied upon, he will not become even an average or ordinary LHP in the pen.
Don’t know how many games it will take to lose, or how inflated his ERA becomes.
Management seems hell-bent on a favourable outcome with Coke and they will suffer along with fans as the disintegration continues.

I’m guessing they are wishing he can hang on until Hanrahan is here. I think the problem is if you look in AAA and there is literally nothing there, especially when it comes to a lefty. Robbie Ray is probably the only decent arm down there but my guess is they want to leave him stretched out incase someone gets hurt.

Coke has no command and this is so obvious . DD has to be wondering what the end result will be .

Could it be this simple?? Phil Coke makes all AL hitters think they are as good as Ty Cobb.

I just laughed after Coke walks a guy on four pitches and Raburn comes up and hits into a DP on the FIRST pitch. It’s like an old comedy show with predictable and comfortable jokes delivered by zany characters.

To cap off the trip, it sounds like the media guys got caught in an old fashioned blinding Ohio Turnpike thunderstorm, except for the one who just checked back into his hotel after the game.
