Wednesday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Astros

Regular day off for Austin Jackson. Don Kelly not only gets the start in center, he’ll bat fifth against Brad Peacock, who’s giving up a higher average to right-handed hitters this year but a much higher average to left-handed hitters for his career.

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B (1-for-6, K vs. Peacock)
  2. Torii Hunter, RF
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH
  5. Don Kelly, CF
  6. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  7. Alex Avila, C
  8. Andrew Romine, SS
  9. Rajai Davis, LF (0-for-3, K vs. Peacock)

P: Rick Porcello

ASTROS (career numbers against Porcello)

  1. Jose Altuve, 2B (0-for-3, K)
  2. Dexter Fowler, CF (1-for-3, double, K)
  3. Jason Castro, C (1-for-3, HR, K)
  4. Chris Carter, DH (0-for-3)
  5. Alex Presley, LF
  6. George Springer, RF
  7. Mark Krauss, 1B
  8. Matt Dominguez, 3B (0-for-2, 2 K’s)
  9. Marwin Gonzalez, SS (0-for-2)

P: Brad Peacock

again putting someone in the 5th lineup spot that can’t protect Victor? ok.

I would have batted Kelly second and Hunter 5th.

Seems that Phil Coke was not saying “they haven’t cut me yet.” He was communicating with a little girl in the stands.
That will teach me not to post items from nefarious sources.

sure looked like he said that to me, who told you otherwise?

Probably more nefarious sources. 🙂

Umpire failing to recognize a 3rd strike to Altuve cost Rick Porcello a ER to his ERA. Too bad.

Tigers 1 hit through 3 inning. Yes a few walks but??

Astros pitching too much for our guys tonight.

I think it was more like Tiger pitching was too much for the Astros.

Whew! Joba was terrific.

He was good.

He sure had his command didn’t he ?? If Joba keeps this up he has found a new home . Another win !!!!

Why do all closers seemingly refuse to even attempt to hold runners? They should be even more concerned in my opinion.

IDK, but they did run a pinch runner out there, didn’t they? Probably wants to just concentrate on getting the next guy out or get a DP.

1. Tori’s shorthop catch and strong throw to keep Krauss from scoring.
2. Victor’s second homer in as many games.
3. Jojaba shuts the door.

A win is a win. Ricky P not as sharp, but did enough against the Astros. Miggy is slowly warming up. Nothing from the bottom tonight. We should sweep, butthat’s not so easy, especially in a 4 game set.

somebody pinch me! Joba looked like a beast out there! Might need to get Krol, Coke and Miller some work though. Feel bad about bitching so much now – dangit.

I don’t see the Beverage Brothers (Coke & MIller) living the High Life too much longer.

You are right on Miller and Coke they might be packing up . To allow them to hang around longer is a mistake. Some times things just dont work out.

Joba is all business out there and he is throwing strikes. And has been for a while now. Nathan, on the other hand, has uncharacteristically been allowing too many free passes.

#Tigers lineup: Davis lf, Kinsler 2b, Cabrera dh, V-Mart 1b, JDMart rf, Jackson cf, Castellanos 3b, Holaday c, Worth ss. Smyly p.
